  • During the filming of Valeria Piccini's Wild Rabbit Sauce Pappardelle, the images of the cleaning and butchering of the animal appeared to us as central as they were potentially disturbing for an impressionable audience. Therefore we have dedicated a tutorial to this ancient procedure, widespread in all hunting areas of the world, a prerequisite for every recipe based on hare. This video is aimed at all fans of game and sustainable hunting!

    Videos like these are important. Without sensationalizing, they show as professionally as possible the butchering of an animal- a practice that gave early humans proteins and fats, which popular theory says was needed to develop our brains; and also a practice modern humans seem to have neglected to keep in mind. I think we all need to be presented with this truth early in our lives so we can make our decision: whether to join our vegan brethren in their passionate abstinence, or to recognize and accept this practice as a cruel but natural part of life. On my part, I'm a simple man. I think killing and eating animals is natural. I think hunting and farming them responsibly are efficient means of procuring sustenance, and are expressions of our development as a species. I think butchering them so is an expression of our knowledge and respect for their anatomy. I don't think it biologically wise to deny the instinct that says "meat is delicious". You are of course free to disagree, but even if you do, you must agree that these videos are important so we can even-handedly reach our own conclusions.

      Speaking as a liberal suburbanite/city dweller, most Americans and westerners at large are too disconnected from their food, and I believe that everyone should better understand where their food comes from. Videos like this are extremely important, but the physical act of ending the life of an animal and cutting them into parts in order to consume them should be something every person who eats meat should experience. It would engender a new respect for the animals and the processes of their lives, and of the butchers and meat packers who do this all day for us so we don't have to.

      Caring for animals in this kind of way while we have millions od people starving and not having clean clothes to wear on a daily basis is madness. Its crazy and out of this world to care more for animals then for a human being

    • @thereverendfetus
      @thereverendfetus Před 2 lety

      @@MrBilioner Agreed, but I'm more concerned with the fact that very few older folks in "developed" ot "Western" countries are passing down their hunting skills, including the craft of field dressing game and video is a great way to preserve and share those skills. At least here in Colorado, it seems like we have a missing generation of people that know how to humanly take down and process small game and they are PLENTIFUL here. I went pheasant hunting, and instead of getting to learn how to field dress my own birds, the guide handed me pre-dressed birds that had been shot the day before and mine went to the next group he took out. It's like it's secret knowledge they don't want to share or something....

    • @MrBilioner
      @MrBilioner Před 2 lety

      That was odd giving you already finished product while you already had fresh meat hunted down. I really do not have an answer on why did they do that but I believe with some effort you could find it via Internet. Since its a type of bird I believe from my knowledge and experience that cleaning it its not difficult rather sometimes it can get stressfull cleaning all those feathers by hand even though I did not get further then a chicken, still it counts as bird right?

      @rebeccahicks2392 Před 2 lety +1

      There are different species of both. The reply that said the difference is whether they're wild was mistaken. For identification, you just have to learn what type lives around you and how to identify them. There are multiple biological differences, for example, hares are born with fur and eyes open and more developed, and rabbits are born after a shorter gestation so less developed (no fur, closed eyes). They tend to live in different habitats, hares are bigger and faster with longer ears.
