As an ex professional diver myself (including drift diving with zero visibility in pitch-black waters in the Netherlands) there are so many things I would have done differently. Where are the diving flags? Diver balloons? Buoyancy bags? Descending lines? Where is the planning? Ideally you calculate where the tide is taking you. You go in 5 min before tide change. The drift will take you to your search area. There you have a good time-window to do what ever you need to do during still waters.. And when the tide changes it will bring you back to the boat. All this while attached to a balloon so the surface crew knows exactly where you are.
I'm not trying to be a smart-ass. I'm just concerned for the safety of the entire crew. This is how people die and get lost under water. I've seen it.
That said though I realize you can't show everything in a video. And there is probably a lot of planning you can't show in a 22 min video.
Love the video though. Can't wait to see part 2. But please, stay safe. It was said in the video, this isn't Bermuda with it's 200 meter views below the surface.
❤❤
(Edited: fixed some spelling errors.)
I agree. I worked as a millwright for a hydro company , all the divers we hired had a safety plan and radio communication at all times
seems reckless the way they did it, shouldn't have been possible for that guy to float away like that.
A month or more ago another youtube channel already did this. I do not remember seeing any balloons and they were with a different crew completely so that may just be something that isn't used on the hudson. Plus with hard helmet diving they're connected to the boat so those guys don't need it as their lines won't break so easily.
It does seem like something that could have been useful for the guy that had the line get cut who wasn't in a hard helmet though. Even more so since it sounded like they didn't have any way to communicate with him once he went under.
I think it has to do with water channel rules and the fact the dive lead is a sewer diver this isn't a hydro electric dam or some water system where the divers control the waterway and don't have much to deal with in the way of ships so all the flags n stuff might take up too much room the bad/bladders n shit might be due to them being hard divers idk
Im not a diver but as someone who has spent a lot of time jet skiing and falling into the water around Manhattan..... the currents are real. I knew right away when they were talking about diving around hell gate (google it) that is was going to be tough to impossible. Im actually shocked that at least the crew from the barge company did not say "yeah thats not a good idea right now". Was anybody on that crew from the area?
Heavy D has the most diverse channel on youtube. Absolutely delivers every episode 🙏💚
Indeed they have, love their programs, best regards from the UK.
Fax
Wholesome family stuff too. Kudos to all these guys.
No only diverse but the production quality is real similar to the big bucks cable television channels.
It’s so diverse and the best part is that it works!
HeavyD, if you all are able to find just a quarter of the bones dumped. You guys are talking 10s of millions, if not 100s. And knowing you and your team, I'd bet you find much more than that. I'm looking forward to part two. The mere diversity of what you're doing now a days is unwavering. Thank you for some more truly amazing content
Thank you guys SO MUCH for getting Doug Bishop in on this. Not sure if he was invited or just joined himself, but he is a highly skilled diver as well and he deserves to be a part a of these expeditions!!
Doug Bishop! 😎
I was so surprised to see Doug Bishop, I'm so glad to see he's doing some awesome stuff after adventures with purpose!
What happened to him on AWP? havent watched them in forever.
@@max_moto2877 omg man so much
@@max_moto2877 Doug resigned because the owner of AWP, Jared Leisek, has been charged with child rape.
@@WeHAFHD please do explain. Seems like he stuck around through the whole “allegations” thing. Then that guy came back… i didn’t even realize Doug had left.
@@stick004 just Google search "what's going on with adventures with a purpose" I didn't know either in that search brought up more than I cared to find
I'm honestly invested in this video series. Better be longer than 2 parts.
same i really want to know how to scam people with this pyramid or bone scheme
9:20 Hans coming in with the skeptical face. Brilliant he is a man I can trust and knows a scam when he sees it.
Hans is the realest one of them all!
Exactly !
*Is it crazy that no one in the 40's knew Ivory was valuable?*
So good to see Doug Bishop!!!
Enjoyed this adventure and can’t wait for part two. So happy to see Doug joining in.
Heavy D & Doug!! Can’t beat that combination!! Wow!!
Love seeing everyone doing different things! And you have Doug Bishop with you!! Glad to see him in a dive suit again!
I love this channel! Heavy D achieved success and now he’s just doing side quests, truly inspirational to see the many different activities him and his team per take in!
Bob Kirby's son here... good to see my pop's equipment helped you guys out!! He passed last June, but his spirit is checking you guys out through my eyes... His real love was aircraft... like yours.
These guys are so rad. From rescuing my old town of Crestline from snow pack to a mammoth tusk expedition. These guys go hard in the paint.
Im sorry
@@UsaRubber for what?
Hard in the shill paint. They still bent over for the scam Est Titles and let that scam cuck them.
So happy to see Doug. Totally wasn't expecting that. Can't wait to see part 2. I hope we get to see Doug dive too.
this crowd going to kill someone, probably Doug
After listening to this podcast the day it came out and being mind blown, I am so pumped to see that you guys are the ones that are doing this. I remember wondering who would be the ones crazy enough to undertake this expedition. This makes me so happy
okay but lots of people have been down searching for this. they are waaaaay late tbh so weird to say they’re “the ones that are doing this”
So cool to see so many different people coming together for a big adventure. Great to see Doug Bishop still on you tube
this seems more like a sonar scan job than a dive and randomly feel around
Yeah, at least start with sonar.
They probably need to find a few bones for money, then go in with more expensive tactics.
I'd imagine if they did the smart thing and scanned the area, they wouldn't have enough content to make money off videos and merchandise lol.
@@grantwho5203 haha, no, these guys buy heavy equipment, monster trucks, sport cars, 8x8 tow trucks, helicopters, and all just for no reason other than they just want to play around and have fun. the internet says heavy D's net worth is $8 million. so i dont think he needs to save a a few dollars to go on a treasure hunt
maybe the sonar is not allowed. Maybe some marine protection thing.
Absolutely thrilled to see Doug with you guys. Great video!
Man, y’all are the best channel out there! The adventures are endless. Scary moment there, glad everyone is safe.
I absolutely love that HeavyD and the team joined this crazy endeavor. And as always, filming and editing is on point 👌
Glad to see some of the people on this voyage exspecially Doug Bishop and your crew.
So awesome he is doing this! That was an awesome pod cast and I’m glad the Heavy D team is doing this!
So good to see Doug out adventuring with you all!
So happy and surprised to see Doug Bishop!!❤

That has to be one of the most unpredictable rivers in the country. As you just seen that river can go from slack tide to raging in seconds. I’ve seen a boat docked the wrong way and before anyone could react and turn the boat around it was sunk. Love the videos great to see you guys in my back yard and be safe. Lots of items that can cut you down there too
I 100% agree with you. I live in upstate NY and was thinking the same thing. I posted about them in even swimming in the Hudson because of the pollution from the GE plant in Schenectady. But you’re also 100% right about the unpredictability of the Hudson River
Doug Bishop Wow! What an honor! The Dudes onboard are dangerous! always remain dangerous was long as you can! I'm 68+ and still shine, I just hope for another 4 years or better!
Doug Bishop I’m glad to see you landed with a great team.
Respect from the UK to you and the crew
Doug is a keeper! Bring him in for sure! Great Video and editing, as always! 👍
Hey Doug, great seeing you again!!😂
That was very scary. Looks like a definite Rush!
Wow!!! This seems like a pretty dangerous thing to do. Need to really think about all the things that could go wrong for sure before jumping in. Everyone please put safety first. Doug glad to see you along for the ride, but you be careful too. Good to see you back in action. Missed seeing you. Looking forward to seeing if Bones are found.

My cousin did diving like that all his life. He went all over the world. He had some wild stories about working in NYC !
AWESOME video, love the diverse videos from vehicle recovery, helicopters and now diving. I did mud diving for years in power plants around the Potomac river and can confirm things can from good to terrible in a second. Tide tables and a hard had safety diver would have helped as well as knowing what weight the one diver needed from the start instead of figuring it out on the fly.
As a long term windsurfer. Who has been Windsurfing the Hudson for years. I would love to know the back story of why these bones were located to NYC. A huge tidal river with big waves. And given our world class Museum of Natural history. Why the bones ended up being dumped in the Hudson.
And lastly. Due to Pete Seeger the folk singer and the boat the ClearWater, the Hudson river is now cleaner than it has ever been over the past half a century (50 years)..... what's equally interesting is the stories about drilling under the river to build the Lincoln and Holland tunnels between NY & NJ..... GREAT VIDEO!!!
Whoa that's an amazing ep! Very glad to see Doug Bishop with this venture, he's a natural fit with all you amazing guys. More like this please!
So happy to see Doug Bishop ❤
Amazing. The things heavy d gets to do are so outta this world
great job guys glad everyone was safe
Preserving history would be giving those pieces to scientists, not selling those away for profit.
This is not to advance science, this is strictly to advance pocket books, which is fine as long as it is paid for privately, Mel Fischer is an example. And it is a interesting subject. But Dave and gang are really just tourists on this one. They we’re doing this for months before they showed up. And the fact that they let untrained hard hat divers go into the Hudson does not speak well.
Yeah i would sell them. The scientists should go dive themselves
The scientists were the ones who dumped the bones in the first place, so yeah no. You’re wrong
Man what can’t the diesel bros not do, now they scuba!!! Love em
We need a whole week worth of videos on just this adventure
Oh wow was not expecting this these guys have def learned so much from tv/show experience love it!!!
My dream team at it again no place they wont go and the adventures they seek for us to tag along is just breathtaking👊🙏😎
The east river is no friggin joke…. I have lost count how many times over the years I’ve sent out a water rescue for someone in the water, only for the person to unfortunately drown cause the current changed from slack tide to an in/out bound tide and the person gets dragged underwater and pushed a few miles away. It happens so quick unless you’ve seen it, you would be hard pressed to believe how fast it changes and how fast the current gets.
Honestly I've been waiting for this to happen. That podcast sparked something I could feel it.
Wow that was intense. Patiently waiting for part 2!
Love y'all. Great seeing Doug out and about. Question, why didn't the safety diver have a DSMB/SMB?
I would LOVE to see you on the Joe Rogan Experience.

I live in upstate NY and I agree with @Yo BMo . I’ve lived here my entire life and I like to say we’re a different breed 😂 but the new people coming in are what we call super soft and can’t take our, what outsiders call, “attitude” (aka can’t take our bluntness). Well tell ya how it is straight up
It’s amazing what these divers can do Here in the UK it’s reported they are using divers to help clean out the old Magnox storage ponds at the former reprocessing plant In Cumbria one of the most radioactive parts of the plant Total respect
