The Boy and the Heron Didn't Deserve an Oscar

  • The Boy and the Heron, the last, presumably last, movie by Hayao Miyazaki, a legendary Japanese director and animator, just won an Oscar for the best animated film and I want to share my opinion. Not about the movie, but about the Oscars. Share my… disappointment? I mean, I knew that Oscars academics never watch animated movies that are nominated, because of their prejudice since they believe cartoons are automatically for little kids. So, they either give the award to the most popular film, or a film by a famous director. And this is exactly what happened this year.

I totally agree, I was so certain Across the Spiderverse would win my face actually dropped. Nimona was amazing from many points but things like the lighing and textures had some problems and the ending was a bit predictable, The boy and the heron is a great movie but it's far from Miyazaki's best, the paicing ain't great and Mahito's character arc makes no sense, Elemental let's admit it was nominated only because it's Disney propriety and Wish was just to bad. Idk what the Academy was thinking about honestly

I can agree with spider man movie, it really provides incredible animation, but I can't say the same thing about nimona, it provides cool ideas about accepting yourself, love and e.g but the animation in here is not that great in this situation.
