this run is possible with the hollow point (aka gun mod) it is possible to fly using the gun

@@Violet111 my friens died in the starter area and there was a shade, maybe it depends on which platform you are using? Still, it was fun to wach them try to play
@@theredruin8750 oh the shade, yeah that's in all platforms where the game is available, it's a feature of the game itself. The person that responded you was confused because there is an ability called the shade cloak, that appears later on the game
You absolutely can beat this game without jumping. It doesn't feature motion controls, so you can just remain seated for the entire session. The character jumps, but you don't.

I thought it was just gonna be a screen which said “no” then just black for the rest of the video.

I know this was an April fools day video but the utter defeat in your voice when you realized it would be impossible to do a no jumping run made me very sad.
I didn't notice when this was released until he was looking around in despair for some way forward. He got me good.

Though this is clearly impossible I still think it would be cool to see a "Minimum Jumps" run where you jump as few times as you can

hm. That reminds me of the Super Mario Oddysey Minimum Captures thing. One could imagine that if someone made a video when it came out like "Can You Beat Super Mario Oddysey Without Captures?" they would conclude no, but in light of new discoveries and whatnot its been reduced to 3 captures in total. So at least a Minimum Jumps thing is achievable but can progress towards a No Jumps conclusion.

To be honest, I was surprised you could damage boost over the first gap. :D
Instead of "without jumping", you could have "without jumping during combat". It would still be a significant challenge, but it might actually be doable.

You can beat *The* Hollow Knight without Jumping, you can just avoid their attacks with the shade cloak and descending dark if necessary. Sharp shadow would probably be good for it too.
A regular run, but with *all* bindings.
-no extra soul vessels
-no nail upgrades
-no equipping charms
-no collecting any masks or using Lifeblood
Oh and you gotta do it on Steel Soul

I've actually managed to get 100% using a mod to have all bindings for the whole game, although it wasn't steel soul and I would have used lifeblood

I know this is an April fools joke, but a “what’s the minimum amount of jumps needed to beat hollow knight” would be great video

Well, that's no different from normal game.
For anyone who's played the game the first half runs a bit too long for how funny the joke actually is.
You know the folks over in the Hollow Knight discord tried something similar: How few directional inputs does it take to complete Hollow Knight when starting with all movement upgrades? And Vengeful Spirit too since that's required to beat the game.
We found that you're able to turn around by jumping and dashing into a wall, which is obviously pretty important. With this you're able to beat the Hollow Knight himself by dashing through his attacks with the Shade Cloak and Super Dashing from one end of the room to the other, the back blast of which would damage it.
We did run into a bit of a roadblock though on the gameplay side. That being the Watcher Knights. We're still trying to work on a couple things with them, but as it stands I've only ever been able to bring down 2 of the 5 necessary.
Anyhow, that's the general gist of it. It's a fun challenge idea that'll test how well you can navigate with full upgrades.

I agree. The only problem might be that it'd be hard to track since the game is so open ended. Retraversal through areas and such. I'd really like to see something like this with maybe more linear games, if concepts like this have been tested before.

Now I'm stuck imaging dying so you can get a Shade (A floating enemy) that way you can basically get 2 jumps, and the more health you get the more health the shade gets, so it could be used for more.

This idea may seem crazy, but whenever I’m moving from point A to B, I try to restrict my jumps, It’s quite fun, but I don’t stress it heavily as I don’t use damage boost.
Great vid loved the awesome run you got so far too bad it didn’t workout, if it wasn’t for that part obviously there was totally no other walls that would have stopped your run, it was just that one little part, sorry it fell through good luck with your next hollow knight challenge. I think go a little simpler like “ never touch a spike”, “without spending geo” or even “without picking up a single geo”. Or if your insane “without ever sitting on a bench”.

Just equip the wayward compass since everyone knows you A. Spawn with it and can put it on without a bench and B. Allows you to fly

Ingenious guy, you might be able to beat the game, or certainly get farther, if you tried in the god seeker mode, where you begin with more available items. I honestly really want to see you do this, even if it is meant as an April fools joke.
