I dont know if you notice, but he did that. Took only short trips with the morning surge. Does not take long pick up rides waste of miles even if you can track them. And does not do share becase in boston is way more risky to do them... He has done morning runs of 60+ hr.

DC market is dope. I never average less than $25 per hour after expenses. Most of the time it’s over $30. For part-time money here and there is cool. I don’t know about full-time to pay bills. But for play money it’s cool.
I think Boston Uber Guy's strategy works a lot better if one lives near or better yet in the area where one is driving. I have to come from outside Boston in the metro west area and work my way towards Boston so for me a bit different. Some of those longer fares that he is talking about are oftentimes accepted by drivers that are going that way anyway. These fares pose a better alternative than just deadheading the whole way. A classic example of where something is better than nothing.
Not a fan of his strategy not knocking how he looks at it but no way am I going to sit there for eternity to get the right local rides. That is losing time and money not saying take every ride, looks like he probably sits for hours to take one ride spends 8-10 hours just for local no way am I doing that. Not too worried about my gas it takes baby sips. Might as well not even drive why waste 8-10 hours only driving few local rides and the rest of the time just declining that is like passing up on money you can earn more per hour. Not knocking what his strategy is but for sure I'm not waiting hours at a time for a ride.
I pretty much do the same in San Francisco, we can do this because we live in top tier cities, you're not wrong, you certainly can't pick cherries when you don't have enough cherries in front of you!

I know that you're only going for a certain dollar amount and you wanna stay close to your house so your strategy appeals to you but I would never use your strategy if I lived in Boston
