    It is an example of a rare occurance in art history world when you can laugh your ass off :)))) I almost fell of my chair after hearing that Calixtus Catacombes would serve great as a Dungeons and Dragons map :D

    lol I would love a Chibi Constantine!
    Just to let you know, Professor, Japan have many Manga dedicated to Roman history (although most of them arent translated).
    There's Comedy manga name Thermae Romae that features a Roman Bathhouse Architect who time traveled to Modern Japan and bring back ideas. While it's a funny manga, it's full of historical detail and it set during Hadrian's era (which he is featured in)
    The mangaka herself is a Roman enthusiast, married and living in Italy .

    Thank you for this. I've been sick for weeks and missed a lot of my Art History class and these are extremely helpful.

    Very smooth and comprehensible explanation. But at minute 9.50 it is not a tapestry. It is a fresco that painted resembling tapestry.

    Is it really so that right off there is a movement towards round buildings in the East and Basilicas in the West? Isn't so that the first churches in Constantinople were basilicas? Isn't it rather that only after a while with the development of the cross-in-a-circle church that the East goes on another path (Kreuzkuppelkirche)?

    Just to note: Cumbaya is a Christian song. I think it’s from the Gullah people of the SE US.

    • @googleaccount4471
      @googleaccount4471 Před 2 lety

      Paganism is a catch all term, it includes every single person who worships gods that aren't the Triune Christian God (Jews not included)
