  • NOTE - the green Longleaf pine needles in this video came from dying trees that fell over, and trees that homeowners had removed because too large and near the house. And we get permission remove needle before branches are tossed into dumpster. We Get most of are needles from the ground as they fall from the trees and they are dried out ready to use once washed and dried off. As the green needles take 4 to 6 weeks to dry out to sell them the ones that fall from the trees all year long are ready to sell then.
Also all must be hand picked can't be broken for basket weaving. If used for mulch they can be broken and they sell for way less.
Today is May 2nd, 2024 - Longleaf pine needle used for basket weaving and other home decor. We sell them for around $27 per pound. these green Lonleaf pine needles came off a dying tree and off a tree that was cut down and I had asked if I could pull the needle from the tree branches they were throwing in the branches in a dumpster and they said yes . All the needles I have drying now is around 100 pound or more as I weigh them before I put them out to dry. around $2,700 worth they will all dry this month at different times. and I will bundle them all to sell the ones in the shade will dry green while the ones in the sun will brown. all of thes are very long needle 15 to 20 plus inches a majority of them. we send them all over the country as we have a large customer base. My mind is blown. I had no idea people would pay for pine needles, I can see why, but still. What a great way to get some income.

Note I pick them from the ground as they fall from the trees on my land. Most basket weavers do as they can not weave with green ones cause they shrink when they dry out. The green ones you're looking at in the video came off a dying trees that fell over and trees that have been cut down buy homeowners that did not want them, near the house to big. They take four to six weeks to dry out. From green. And the ones that fall from the trees all year long are 99 percent dried out some green fall on a windy day.they have to be hand picked as they can not used broken ones thats why they sell for ao much. The one that people rake ans use for mulch do not sell dor rhat much but people with large Longleaf tree farms make noney off the raked ones for mulch

🌲Cool video, nice haul! My home borders a Ponderosa grove, the needles are 10 inches long, in clusters of 3. Would these be of value?? Thanks 🕊

Yes you could sell them people weave with then too..but they can not be used for making tea as they are toxic. But great baskets once dried out. Now the Longleaf needle are not toxic so they can be used for making tea green and making baskets when dried out
