    The 4x4 in my 84 nissan pick up. It only engages when i lift the 4x4 stick all the way to the top. In the pther 4x4 positons it does engage

      Ok if the front driveshaft doesn't spin in 4wd with wheels off ground then the transfer case is broken and needs replace it rebuild

    Dude that owned my 1985 before me runs Rotella 15-40 in it in Texas. I have been thinking about dropping down to 10w-40w conventional oil. Is there a reason for using diesel engine oil or does Rotella make a non-diesel oil. I saw the video on the standard transmission service and got me some 85w-90w yellow safe gear oil to service the standard transmission and the transfer case since I do not know when it was last serviced. I saw on down where you explained the diesel oil having zinc so I am sure that is why it is used. I will stick with what the man before me was using.

    Why do you run that oil?

    • @Captain720
      @Captain720  Před 4 lety

      The Zinc and other additives in the Delo 400 Diesel oil protect the old valve trains and the weight is perfect for my climate.

    My kid and I have an 83 720 just like yours. Have same Weber carb and no emissions stuff left. Canister is gone. Only vacuum tube left is vacuum advance to distributor. Could you do a video on your carburetor? I think we’re missing something and get get it tuned quite right.

    • @Captain720
      @Captain720  Před 4 lety

      I would love to do one on that! I am currently very busy with work though so it will be awhile. Make sure and check your "base idle screw" it's commonly missed and is different from the regular idle screw. When ever I am tuning a carb I keep a small notebook with notes for things like "turned mixture screw 1/4 turn clockwise 12-June-2020" so that if it goes wrong I can revert back to what was working

    I live in an area with average low winter temps about 5 degrees F. (Down to -10F. Often) and average winter highs about 35 degrees F. What oil would you recommend in winter. Planning on running DELO in summer. Thanks. Great videos man.

      You can buy different grades of delo if your order it, that's what I would do

    I have a z24 more than 200k miles would you recommend that oil ?

    • @Captain720
      @Captain720  Před 3 lety

      Yes absolutely hands down what I would run. Just so long as you have pressure (40+ is perfect if you have gauges) if low on pressure maybe something thicker also consider climate. I see 10°F-105°F in my area and it's the perfect oil.

    • @ratattckfunk9309

      @@Captain720 i don't know about the gauges or pressure ... It has 8 spark plugs 4cylinder

    • @Captain720
      @Captain720  Před 3 lety

      Ok don't worry about the gauges then. Just put down delo 400 in and give it a try! The main way to know it's good is just listen to your engine and it will really tell you what it likes. Delo 400 is the perfect motor oil in my opinion

      @ratattckfunk9309 Před 3 lety

      @@Captain720 is that for diesel engines ? Im just worried .. Just got the truck and guna do first oil change ...

    • @Captain720
      @Captain720  Před 3 lety

      Yes it is a "diesel oil" which is why it contains the zinc and ZDDP additives needed to preserve our old valves and camshafts while other motor oils do not have the high zinc content and other "heavy use" additives that are needed in our old motors. Common motor oil sold is perfect for new cars but starves our old motors of the necessary additives for long life. The Shell rotella oil has similar properties. I run this motor oil in my old Chevy 350 as well because of the cam and I run it in all the diesels as well. It is not the SD23 this is a Z24 but the SD23 should be in the area of a gallon, just put some in and check your dipstick
