On F1 2018 I saw the car in front of me in an online lobby jump start so that startled me and I released the clutch and unlocked an achievement for a reaction time of under 0.16s

marcus was actually so fast when you consider how far away his finger was, max and grosjean had the right idea hovering their fingers just above the screen whereas his thumb was at least an inch away and at an angle so he has to sweep it around to press the screen.

Just some technical issue here (don't mind me)
A phone screen is at 60hz while the real ones does not affect by the screen's refresh rate.
Like 144hz is was better than a 60hz screen (and I've tested it on human benchmark site on 60hz and 144hz, and it does affect the result)
Therefore it is actually not really a best test case scenario 😅
But everyone had the same case so it was fair

I've been trying the game out and is it possible that the delay is always the same? When I just react to the lights out, I get 0.350 seconds, but now I can get sub 0.050 second times by jumping the gun in such a way that by the time my finger hits the screen the timer's started. So even though I'm technically jump starting, I still get a positive time.
This could become a pretty big exploit

Reaction times get naturally slower the older you get :( 0.28 is still fast enough and what he loses in reactions he makes up with experience, he can predict things before they happen on the track
edit: and it's just a single try, if he did 100 more he may get those 0.22 times too :D

Not so bright people argue that Bottas' reaction time from Austria (0.201 seconds) is completely normal, which would be true if he only had to play this game. *But* Formula one drivers have to do a little more than just pushing a little button. They have to spot the lights turn off, releasing the clutch and step on the throttle without causing wheelspin. Also the engine needs a little time to release the energy and finally there is also the inertia. At the end of this chain when the car finally accelerates, there is a sensor the FIA is relying on. These values are reaction time *+* mechanical processes/physics. So these numbers are ofc higher than normal reaction times. Vettel's sensor gave out 0.369 which is way slower than the average reaction time of 0.2 seconds as you can see in this video but did he have a bad start? No, all other cars behind him were equally fast. Now think about a normal reaction time of 0.2 seconds plus the time, the car needs to move and look at Valteri's 0.201 seconds. You will notice that there is not much time left and that's because he started releasing the clutch and pushing the throttle even before the red lights turned off. The onboard video clearly showed this. Even his tyres were moving when the lights were still on. In conclusion: *Yes* he did a jump start but the tolerance range of the FIA is so wide, that jump starts are within the rules. Maybe they have to think about making those tolerances smaller or having better sensors recognizing tyre spin or clutch releasing better.
paSco Even so, we're talking about maybe a couple hundreds of a second difference? Yes Bottas started a bit too early but he can't consistently keep doing starts like this. Most likely if you try to jump the start you get the penalty 99% of the time. Bottas just got really lucky this one time. And honestly, I'm happy for him.
His tyres moves 0.003 seconds before the lights turned off, but according to rules 0.010 is the minimun of a jump start.

best part of this is how quickly he tells them to 'fuck off' the instant he has their times. fasted i recorded was 0.234 from pressing the button to 'get the fuck out my sight'. impressive.

How do you use it
@@ynwforro2270 it doesn't matter cuz the developer didn't put any effort to make it better and the later updates were crap. The app crashed all the time after the new updates. Still if u want a name, it's called "GP START" by Mic-Apps Ltd.
As for the how to use it, u just had to press the button as the lights went off and it would show your time on screen.

The screen refresh rate of a smartphone isn't fast enough to make this an accurate test. Some of these results are within 1 millisecond of each other, but your screen doesn't refresh at 1000 Hz, more like 60 - 120 Hz depending on your phone. 120 Hz would get you an error band of +/- 8.333... milliseconds.
