You put as much love into a trash can as an heirloom. Really fun little project. I saw Julian Baumgartner’s influence there. ❤️
This seems to be a trashcan *and* a heirloom! Fabulous, isn't it?
I freaked out a little when she started retouching without an isolation layer. 😂
Trena, very entertaining video. I must say that this is the first time in my 40 years of woodworking that I've ever seen anyone use a hand plane and a chisel wearing red nail polish.😃
The nail polish matches her hair color (26:30)
She's a Lady!! 😊
I’m just getting around to viewing this video and your comment was the first one I saw. Made me laugh here in Southeast Georgia. I have ruined many manicures by not wearing gloves.
I have to say I've never seen a chisel wearing any kind of nail polish. And polishing nails shows a whole level of detail that only a dedicated, skilled professional would do; and is the hammer polished too? 😅
Watching you return this box to its former beauty is a testament to the quality work you do. I especially enjoyed seeing you renew the sides. The removal of the marks was amazing. I am never disappointed watching you perform your magic!
Oh thank you!
I'm blown away by your attention to detail. You're not only a craftswoman, but an artist. I've seen another video of you 'retouching' a painting on a clock. You're work just amazes me! Keep up the great work! I hope your customers are grateful to your for all your expertise and your dedication to your trade. :)
Wow, thank you!
My favoritest part was when your pink hair flipped into frame! Whoohoo! I said to myself. Love it!!!
Lol it was for a party 🥳❤️
I'm glad to see that you are finding joy at work and play❤
You’re pretty good with colour touch-ups. You make it look easy, but that’s the result of good education and experience. Job well done 👍🏻
I love watching you work! You put as much care and expertise into restoring a little trash can as you do into restoring a fragile antique. Thank you.
Yes! Thank you!
Your added elegance to this humble container made it a striking conversation piece, I’m sure !
Nice job
Nice work
The cleanup and finish really made the piece pop! It has so much character!
It’s good that this thing fell into your hands.
How cool. I thought all trash cans were plastic! Lol
Wish I lived in Canada (in more ways than one!) so you could work your magic on some pieces!
You teased us with a little glimpse of your pink hair, but never a full view. However, your trash receptacle was beautifully repaired.
Lol it was for a party
Very nice. I'm guessing art deco from the 1910s/1920s.
Good job! Glad there wasn't any fingernails damaged in the process! lol
Me too!
I really enjoy it when you work on unusual pieces. This is probably my favorite video I’ve seen of yours. I know it was a simple project, but sometimes simple is best.
Glad you enjoyed it!
This restoration is glorious. The colors on the linen are extraordinary. I can just imagine it next to an old rolltop desk as the afternoon sun pours into the windows. BAM! Eye candy. Thank you!
Lovely visual🥰
@@johnsfurniturerepair thank you - it was like a picture on my mind. Cheers!
You do a wonderful job on everything you work on, I wish I lived close to you I have a piece I would love for you to work on take care
i love the waste collection basket. iconic piece of its time. it could be made for todays needs in the home office. but with basket weave or leather stamped panels. excellent work reviving this beauty.
Thankuou
Love this piece😊
Art comes in everyday use pieces as well! Good restoration Treena. BTW love the hair color!
Yes! Thank you!
Nice sympathetic restoration
The before-and-after shots at the end of your videos are always amazing. By the finish of a video I seem to always forget how beat-up the piece was when you first showed it, so revisiting the "before" makes for an "oh my gawd..." contrast at the end. 😄
Glad you like them!
I think at some point, this was used as an umbrella 🌂 and or cane 🦯 box.
This just came up for me. Can’t stop smiling😊 will be in Monday to pick it up. Now I better finish watching. Definitely a save and share video!!Thankyou Treena
Have fun! See you Monday🥰
Very cool piece and an excellent job.
You do fantastic work on everything you put those magical hands on. Big or small you fix them all.
Thank you very much!
Indeed, “Dust Follows”. Good choice
It’s a planter. My aunt had something very similar.
Wonderful❤👍👍🌹
Just plain lovely! Wow! Thank you for sharing all of your surprises with us.
You are so welcome!
I'm going to build a trash can now for my sister in laws office. Thank for the inspiration!
Have fun!
It's really cool. I don't think it is a trash can. I think it's for umbrellas or canes.
I like the attention to the tiny details... that's a nice piece and I'm sure the customer will be thrilled to see it restored!
I think so too!
A little love goes a long way
Plant stand? That’s what I thought the minute I saw it! Yay!😀
Hi Trena, I hope life is good for you and yours. I've really missed your regular posts, but no pressure. I know they're a lot of work, As always, your results are fantastic. It must be nice to colour something again. The pattern is gorgeous & you certainly did it justiice. Thank you so much for sharing your skills! Best, Angela
Thankyou
Truly great work
Very nice, lovely looking trash can.just continue doing what your doing and carry on.😎😎😎👍👍👍
Thanks, will do!
That was a cool looking interesting piece.
Such a fantastic, interesting piece! I agree - being a planter is a much more noble pursuit of its use 🤩 I now have serious planter envy ☺
Your work is beautiful! I'm impressed that your nails look as good as your work does.
Thank you so much!
Lovely item. I think it will be good as a planter, and I also liked the idea of umbrellas… too pretty for trash.
I think so too!
I think this is more of a waste paper basket than a trash can. a thing af beauty.
You say to-may-to and I say to-mot-to. 😉
Unusual piece- nice work as usual!
Thanks again!
Taking things apart can be risky. You can cause more harm than good in some cases. So, judgement needs to be exercised. But, as a general rule, I'm with you on taking things completely apart when possible. You can do a much better repair that way.
Yea I agree
Wow!
nice job!
Trena, this restoration was especially fun to watch. You put so much love into your work and that shows in the end. Thank you for sharing.
You are so welcome
Many things about this video that I enjoyed but the best was when you said that you would use a "few" clamps and then watched you use many. One of my favorite tools is a block plane so I smiled as you used one.
Lol always more clamps
A beautiful result as usual!💕 Thank you for sharing your excellent restoration skills with us🙏
My pleasure 😊
Trenna you a wizard of restoration. Thanks for sharing your talents.
Wow! It looks so good without losing it's antique vibes!
What a beautiful result!! Really well done
Thank you! Cheers!
I’ve been working on wood projects most of my life as a hobby. Watching you work with such knowledge, detail and care. You are a master of your craft.
Wow, thank you!
What a beautiful little thing. Well worth bringing back to it's original glory. Great job.
Thank you very much!
WONDERFUL TRANSFORMATION OF THIS ANTIQUE, JUST LIKE ALL OF THE OTHER PIECES THAT YOU HAVE DONE, TRENA! AND FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH, YOU ARE MORE ATTRACTIVE THAN EVER. CHEERS TO YOU, ALSO!
Thanks
Your master craftsmanship and artistry is a joy and wonder to behold. Thanks for sharing the journey turning near trash into treasure.
My pleasure!
A thing of beauty. I love small items like this. Thanks.
At the beginning I thought what on earth you can do with that box. I should have known that you can work wonders. You did it looks wonderful. Thank you so much Trena.
😊 thank you
Omg! Love your pink hair! I kinda wanna dye mine, but I'm scared of destroying it
It’s a temp dye. It last like 2 weeks. Do it. It’s fun. I did it for a party
Lucky you tuber!! Lives close to Trena!!
Well done Trena! another awesome job. I really like your job, it's a very intersting art.
Congratulations, i love work with wood too.
Greetings from Brazil.
I just love your work!
Thank you! Cheers!
Very nice restoration of what may have been a lost treasure in someones attic. I was really amazed as to how well the oil cloth came back to life. Very nice Trena !!
Thank you very much!
I have never seen such a fancy trash can! So glad you were able to get it back to beautiful once again. I think such a fine piece as this should have a more worthy use than for trash. Great job!
You and me both!
Trena: that’s the best looking waste bin I’ve ever seen. The desk that was near the waste bin must have been something! I can see the library/office now. Haha Carol from California
Love that you shared that your dad would have left the oilcloth in! Multiple approached by seasoned pros.
Ù let the little durtbag sparkle again. Even the leather work doesnt scare u off. Great work again. Love it
Yes! Thank you!
I learn a little something every time I watch your videos. Beautiful work as always.
Thank you! Cheers!
There are so many resto channels these days, it really is fantastic how succinct yours are without any gimmicks. Just show the process,
what worked and what didn’t. Very relaxing and informative. Really love these vids Trena.
Wow, thanks! Thats very kind of you to say
Would've thought that a trash can could be such a classy object? Really, really nice piece and more than just restored. I think brought back to respect for it's age and history, would be good.
Really, the same kind of attention in this humble object, that usually just sits in the corner and literally collects trash, as some noble clock or chest of drawers. You do fine work, Trena.
Thank you very much!
Thank you Trena.
Another piece completed with excellence, very nice looking, thanks for the video, appreciate your time and effort that you put into your projects and videos.
Thank you very much!
What an interesting and unusual piece. It's beautiful! You did a wonderful job - it shines with pride. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much!
I really love this box! Will be a fabulous plant stand! I admire your artistic skills to fix the oil cloth details. Well done as always.
Thank you so much!
Wow interesting piece.
It really is!
You seem somewhat different in this video but did a lot of work for a waste paper basket. It might be an umbrella stand. Your magic astonishes me every time. Excellent job thank you for sharing.
Hi Trena, I've never seen such a beautiful garbage can, I hate to even call it that, I'm glad it will be a plant stand now. I like all the detailed work you put into it, I'm sure your client is very happy....Take care...cheers !!!
Thankyou!
G’day Trena, as always a superb job of restoring this beautiful item. I love how you take everything apart and then reassemble it, ensuring that is strong and will last another lifetime. This was an interesting video. Take care from Down Under 😘💕🇳🇿.
Thanks so much 😊
Beautiful result, as always, making this the best looking waste basket ever. If I were the owner of this, I would not use it as a plant stand or a waste basket -- at most a recycle-paper container.
Looks good. Obviously the work you do requires a variety of skills.
I'm not sure if people appreciate the amount of work with traditional hand tools that is involved with this type of job.. You obviously have some mad skills. Great work.
Thank you very much!
I actually thought that was a
planter when I first saw it.
I was thinking it was for umbrellas, or maybe fancy walking sticks :)
I bet shop dog would love to have pink hair too ! Love to all, great job ! My best to your dad ! Greetings from California , USA
Thank you so much!
For some reason I don’t think you would say no to any repair job. This was a very interesting and fun to watch video. I didn’t know what to expect. Great job.
Glad you enjoyed it!
As always, brilliant work. Disappointing it wasn't leather😢. I agree with the owner, a plant holder is a far better use than a waste paper bin.
Another beautiful job. Great work on touching up that leather!
Interesting and unusual piece. Very good job as always. Cheers.
Many thanks!
It does look really nice.
You did it again Trena! Another A+ !
Beautiful job. Be safe God bless.
Beautiful as always. Unique and never have I seen one so lovely. You did an amazing job on this, but then you always do.......amazing talent Trena! Loved this video.
Blessings
Thank you so much love❤️
Good restoration on an unusual worthwhile piece.
You are a miracle worker. I so enjoy watching your videos. Thx
Seems like anything you touch turns to gold. Excellent job!
Thank you! Cheers!
Your choise ofmusic makes the video even better!
Enjoyed the video Trena, I can understand your Dad saying leave it together but you made the right decision removing all the side panels so you could get all the dirt out. It is an unusual piece and you did an amazing restoration on it. Thanks for producing the video. Take care and God bless.
Thanks so much
Trena it's beautiful. Love the pink nails and hair.
I would advise the client to have a removable galvanized tray fitted to the inside of the piece. This would protect the wood if being used as a planter or umbrella stand.
