  • Today we’re checking out the Miltech Simulations CH47D for MSFS, or as it’s more commonly known, the Chinook. We take it on one of its built in missions where we fly across Alaska on a search and rescue mission. Lots of mistakes will be made, no doubt! So if you know better than I, please leave a comment so the whole community can benefit!

Sitting on couch last night and this video popped up!
Options where either, early night, sit and watch the Mrs watch BBro, or jump into the sim and try this!
Loved this video so much, brought, downloaded and set up the Chinock within the hour.
Was then low level flying around the Mac Loop in the Chinock until the small hours!
Great to have something quick and fun to do other than airliners in the Sim, which can take an hour just to get off the ground!
Can’t land the Chinock yet, but looking forward to learning how to… so any tutorials would be great!

It’s amazing fun, isn’t it? I must admit, I’m in the same boat in terms of learning. Though for me, that’s all part of the fun. Nice to have something less serious that can dip into when the jets and VatSim get a bit much!

They are coming out with a version of this Helo in DCS, I am waiting for that one. When I was in CH-53E and we went to army bases I never saw them hover the 47 much, when they land they were usally moving forward at a very slow pace. Great heavy lift aircraft.

Looked great, sound was spot on too... Very nice Sim. Nice control David.. Well done. Helicopter flying is completely different, the yoke plus collective is a real balancing act. Bizarrely I flew an actual Helicopter Simulator last week.. 1 hour of pure magic.. I was a very lucky boy..

Oh wow, that sounds awesome. Yeah, this was way harder than I ever anticipated. Going into it, I heard how stable the chinook was relative to regular choppers, it still nearly got the better of me 😅

@@AirNOTT Chinook is pretty stable...A lot of power & big stability. I flew a twin engined Helicopter but it was incredibly sensitive & highly agile..

it truly is! Also, there is a 2 week Trial for basically all the modules, except 1 or 2. So if you want to give it a shot you just choose the plane, start trial and fly! If you're thinking about trying it you can allways let me know! :D

A friend of mine is a HEMS pilot ( emergency medical helos ) and he's tried out my basic setup to fly helicopters in MSFS 2020. He said it's actually much easier flying the real thing. My setup isn't that good, basic hotas sadly.
