Campbell Tomato Soup and a Grilled Cheese Sandwich was our favorite lunch made by our mother with love. Thank you for posting the history I never knew. I’m 69 years old and yes there are several cans of Campbell Chicken Noodle soup in our cupboard ❤
Your’re a gal right up my alley. 65 & still remember my Nan making that for lunch on a cold day. Mixed the can w/half milk. Turned my son onto it & he even adds cheese to the soup & skips the sandwich. Chicken Noodle in our pantry too. 👋
Being born and raised in Philadelphia suburbs near Whitemarsh Hall …I am a great fan of Horace Trumbauer designed buildings!!! So glad to see Villanova taking over as Cabrini College is closing !! Let’s not see another fine building torn down as was Whitemarsh Hall !!!
My grandpa worked in the billing office at Campbell soup. Uncle was an electrician and another uncle worked security there. Needless to say,, I've eaten a lot of Campbell/ Swanson/ Lady Godiva products! Thanks Ken.
What a beautiful mansion! My favorite rooms are the great hall and the library. Campbell's was very smart in their marketing, as they published thousands of recipes using their soup in all the woman's magazines of the day. Many holiday recipes are made with cans of Campbell's soup. I hope Villanova takes good care of this gem of a house!
This is an historic home. John Thompson Torrance is a great American historical figure. Good grief, he invented Campbell soup!! I really hope they DON'T tear his home down. TOURS would be great!!
What a stunning house. I think it’s my favorite so far, especially the idea of 260+ acres of parkland. Oh my. It’s a shame about Cabrini closing and I hope Villanova doesn’t destroy this beautiful gem.
I never realized how powerful the name Campbell Soup ment! I have enjoyed it all my life and never realized all the background. Thank you for wonderful wonderful video.😊
Very pleasing mansion. It takes you in all at once. You’re not over whelmed by boisterous architecture. I love the whole house. I hope and pray Villanova has the good sense to continue its preservation. That said, it’s also nice that the Campbell family didn’t just tear it all down and start new. They lived in somebody else’s design.
@thishouse - can you please do a few videos on the "cottages" of Mount Desert Island before the fire? I love your videos of old beach homes! would love to see more
Villanova University is a Catholic school, so this mansion will probably repurposed as a residence for priests. Far better than letting it rot. It should be a nice home for them.
I love your videos and actually the narration really adds to it in my opinion. I can really feel the narrators passion for the subject and it’s not ‘too polished’ and voice of god like. I feel like I’m hanging out with someone who is genuinely enthusiastic about the topic. 👍🏼👍🏼
I find this particularly interesting as my great-great uncle was Alan Wood Jr. who build his mansion, Woodmont, in nearby Gladwynne, PA just a few years earlier in 1894. It was designed in the French gothic style by William Lightfoot Price. Alan Wood died less than ten years after it was built & left it to my grandfather Richard G Wood. In 1954 it was purchased by the evangelist preacher Father Divine who headquartered his International Peace Mission Movement there. Seems like a couple of parallels between Woodcrest & Woodmont estates.
Funny when I open a can of soup I don’t add water to it but milk. Make it’s more richer and creamy. All our family did that. And have fresh butter bread. Dipping the buttered bread also makes a bit of butter come off into the soup.
Wow. Gorgeous. My family may have built a room there. Love the opportunity to see these American treasures . Hate to hear it is not going to be utilized after this year
Speaking of food, consider a video of the Fay House in Fitchburg, Mass, which is now a semi-private social club with a great restaurant board. It was built in 1883 by a local railroad businessman, and fully restored.
Beautul home!! I would loved to of toured thru it! I absolutely love ecploring old houses!!❤ I love Campbell's tomato soup❤ Is it only made with "beefstesk" tomaotes? Thsnks.
Used to eat Campbell’s soup as a child all the time, especially during winters in the North East. Today I have to watch my bp, and doc says it’s a no, no. ☹️
Too bad Campbell's went by the way of adding bioengineered ingredients to their soups. Huge no no. People are not purchasing these soups any longer who steer clear of anything edible with bioengineered ingredients. Shame of Campbells
I can eat the tomato soup a few times a year.....the rest of it.....never liked it....but to be fair , don't like any canned soups or foods....make my own soups

Chicken noodle soup PBJ. Grilled cheese and tomato soup. Double yum at 25 cents a can.

A classic lunch combo! My second favorite was tomato soup and a blt.
Still stock lots of Campbells..
Child abuse😅
I do hope this beautiful classic mansion is preserved. It is an architectural treasure!

So sad. Hope they save Lynnewood in Elkins Park.

Don’t care for anything made with Cream of Mushroom. I still have some Campbells Cook books
That mansion is mmm, mmm good! I especially liked the library.
This is an historic home. John Thompson Torrance is a great American historical figure. Good grief, he invented Campbell soup!! I really hope they DON'T tear his home down. TOURS would be great!!
I met Mr Dorrance's grand daughter in South Carolina. She was lovely, very down to earth. She later moved to Newport and passed away not to long ago.
Literally eating the soup now. Perfect timing.
Had some Manhattan Clam Chowder yesterday. No Oysterettes though 😢
@@samanthab1923 I hope to travel to Manhattan someday, and to have a cup of their chowder.

The entire mansion is/was simply breathtaking! I love the exteriors stonework 🥰
That facade is so beautifully symmetrical.
I never realized how powerful the name Campbell Soup ment! I have enjoyed it all my life and never realized all the background. Thank you for wonderful wonderful video.😊
Gorgeous mansion. I loved the library.
I love this channel. These old houses show what can happen when you have a great idea
While I’ve seen the prominent circle on Campbell’s soup tins I never bothered to look closely, and had no idea it was a medal. Interesting story!

Really beautiful house, and some absolutely amazing ceilings. So glad to see it has been preserved! Thanks for another great video.
"Soup and sandwich, soup and sandwich, have yourself some Campbell's soup and sandwich, Anytime or weather, soup and sandwich go together"
Wow another fantastic house. Glad it is still around and hope it stays with new owners coming. Lived the great hall.
These mansions have so much more meaning with gardens and landscaping.
Even the horse stables were over the top......
Great narration.....
4-pork chops in a shallow baking pan covered with sliced onions and 1-can of Campbell's Mushroom Soup, bake 1-1/2 hrs at 400 degrees (yum)
With a splash of Worcestershire sauce.
Love the great hall, beautiful wood work.
I've always loved Campbell Soup and am blessed to receive a college scholarship bearing his name. ❤
Would have liked to see more of the kitchen and cooking areas.
Very beautiful, one of My favorite one's. Love this style. Glad to hear this is still standing.
I saw this just as I sat down to eat my Campbell soup dinner. Great to know it didn’t just become another tear down.
@thishouse - can you please do a few videos on the "cottages" of Mount Desert Island before the fire? I love your videos of old beach homes! would love to see more
I hope they don't tear it down.
I grew up in the fifties, in Cos Cob, CT. I ate Campbell's soup frequently, Tomato, and chicken noodle, mostly.. I don't eat it much, anymore.

Interesting presentation, Ken. Thanks.
Beef with Vegetables and Barley! That is my favorite soup!
It was fabulous.
I have Campbell's in my pantry! Nice to know the mansion is still there: hope it survives the new owners.
When I worked as a Cabrini faculty member, my office was in the former Campbell’s stables. It was small and cozy.
Thanks for highlighting this Main Line treasure! 😍
The Dorrance Family is still very wealthy and they're really nice people in Gladwynn, Pennsylvania
I only wish the pictures could have been in color. But interesting history about the house I did not know.
Note the photos were taken before color photography.
I lived there when I attended Cabrini college from 1984 to 1986 in a dorm
The ceilings in many of the rooms are very ornate!
Haha, I worked on the yards and gardens here when I worked for a nursery in the mid 70s.

Great 👍👍👍👍👍
What a gorgeous home, but I'm very partial to Tudor homes
Beef and Barley...The best one EVER
I didn't even know this was here what an awesome post thank you for sharing❤

I've heard that one of the Campbell heirs is building or rehabilitating a smaller abode along the famous Ocean Drive in Newport, RI. Narragansett Bay
Reminds me of the Kodak mansion in Rochester
Too bad it's closing. Thanks, ken! Another great one, I love the back stories... ❤
Most tasteful great hall yet! And simply can’t beat the tomato soup 😂
EXCELLENT VIDEO. Keep it coming.
Beautiful house

Amusing to find this video as i close in on a 1 yr work anniversary with Campbell's
Mm! Mm! Good!
I love the great room
Is the Saltines mansion right next door?
Every room was decorated in a different colour of soup
The j.r.watkins family home in winona Minnesota
Hey hi my friends yours is the top account of the house available. A + 😎
Would not run out of space in that home.
I like the exterior more than the interior which, to me, is just too overly much. Ceilings like in the dining room make me feel claustrophobic !! Lol!
Great to know we can get wealthy helping poor people. Can goods today seem degraded to the condition of favored water.
I used to eat this brand as a child, now there's waaaaaay too much sodium even if diluted.
Well it is a gem of a home. Wonder if the stables had bqthing pools. Budapest Zoo Elephant House looks to have them.
One must wonder the incredible cost of keeping it shiny.
Beautul home!! I would loved to of toured thru it! I absolutely love ecploring old houses!!❤ I love Campbell's tomato soup❤ Is it only made with "beefstesk" tomaotes? Thsnks.

Andy Warhol liked it too! 🍲
I'll never understand the need for extremely wealthy people to have such huge houses.
I love your videos. Let's tighten up some of the erroneous pronunciation: ElizaBEEthan and JacoBEEan.
Keep up the good work!
Only soup I buy!
His soup was condensed, his house not so much.
The Dorrance family are cousins.
Did they " liquidate" the property? Or " condense" it - no pun
Well, that leaves people hanging. It is closing its doors for good, but what are the plans for it?
I agree! His videos are subjective.
❤❤❤
Looks like Stately Wayne Manor of the 60's Batman Tv Show.
Not a fan of the interiors, but the exterior is my perfect mansion!
*_Why?_** 51 rooms and 47,000 sq ft... that's not a home, that's a barracks. Must be nice to have too much money!*
how about a list of all the soups they made . people don't believe me that they sold turtle soup .
😮😊🎉cool😊
Zuppe!❤
Now a warning on the label: GMO
Why is this in black & white?
So who owns it, a University?
Be advised to look at the "bio engineered" ingredient on the label. I stopped buying this product.
Sorry to hear that.
Doesn't taste the way it used to. 😮
At least it hasn't been torn down to make way for tacky condos.
Too bad Campbell's went by the way of adding bioengineered ingredients to their soups. Huge no no. People are not purchasing these soups any longer who steer clear of anything edible with bioengineered ingredients. Shame of Campbells
I worked at the Napoleon plant. Disgusting place. Disgusting product. Disgusting union. The founders would weep.
Poison
Campbell soup
makes you poop
up and down
your rubber boot!

Home looks cold
