- How to play Wagon Wheel Guitar Lesson by Bob Dylan or Old Crow Medicine Show ✅ Buy Lauren’s Guitar Course - laurenbatemanguitar.com/courseyt - Welcome to my Wagon Wheel guitar tutorial. The song was originally done by Bob Dylan but later covered and made popular by the band Old Crow Medicine Show. It was later done by Darius Rucker. So that should tell you how popular it is. While the chords remain the same between the version, Bob Dylan and Darius Rucker don't use a capo while Old Crow Medicine Show use a capo on the 2nd fret.
This Wagon Wheel lesson starts with no capo. If you are used to the Old Crow Medicine Show version of Wagon wheel, they use the same chords with a capo at the 2nd fret. The Darius Rucker version of Wagon Wheel follows the Bob Dylan version no using a capo.

brilliant very helpful thank you
You're welcome!
Always a pleasure with such an easy teaching method of how you teach strumming and rhythm. Though I’m not interested now in playing songs, but your chord progressions and strumming I am. Currently focusing on the keys of the pentatonic playing up and down the neck once I broke out of the boxes.
P.S. supporting you channel anyway I can.
Rock on. I truly appreciate it. The comments help
You are awesome! I love the way you teach and show the strumming pattern. I am an older learner you make it so easy for me. Thank you.

Much better video than the first one you did for Wagon Wheel. I appreciate that you took the time to do it again. I like the Dillion version but am trying to get the swing of the Old Crow version. Thanks again.

Thank you very much for your donation! I really appreciate it.
Swingingly Swankly Smooth.
Ha ha ha. I like that.
One and ah, two and ah and ah… reminds me of Lawrence Welk band leader, you ever hear of him🎸? Another great lesson by the way🎸🎸
I have heard that name.
Afternoon,a few days ago a just happened to wonder how to play a triplet on the guitar.when I play triplets on the piano I actually say trip a let while in beat. I like to use slash chords which for the key of g major has g slash d d slash g d slash f.are they the same as the the alternating base notes in your lessons.thanks have a blessed day
Shawna, you can count it that way!
Bob Dylan wrote the Chorus in 1973 and Ketch Secor wrote the verses 25 years later. Secor contacted Dylan and they agreed to share writing credit, with the final version being first released by Secor and The Old Crow medicine show. I don't know if Dylan ever recorded the final version.
I put my guitar away for the past year. This makes me want to pick it up and have some fun again.
Yes!
great song and lesson. But I don't have a capo yet but i'm about to get one
Yeah!!!
You are a great instructor!! Thanks for posting the lessons. If you have a chance to do wide open spaces by the Dixie chicks it would be much appreciated.
Thank you, Michelle for the recommendation. I get lots of song requests so I cannot guarantee that I will get to it, but I will definitely add it to my list.
Hi Lauren. Could you comment with a tip or advice on chord changes. It seems you’re changing chords on the last up strum. Is that what I’m seeing/hearing and is that common for all songs?
You're observation is correct. 😊
Love in love
😎
Woohoo that really sound good but obviously I’m struggling with the strumming pattern 🤩🤩
The later pattern is trickier
What great instructor. It would be really great to be able to get personnel lesson from you.
Aww I know Wes. Unfortunately, I don't have enough time in the day for one-on-one anymore.
@@LaurenBateman
Oh I know. And me being on the west coast makes it tough also.
Could watch n listen to you all day ,but then I wouldn't be learning guitar ,so off to practice wagon wheel ...
Ha ha. Yes go practice.
@@LaurenBateman n I'll go n pick you a bouquet of dogwood flowers also .
I like the Camaro
Thank you
I’m a Dylan nut but never actually ever heard him do it. I know it was during the Soundtrack for Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid.
Yeah there are a few recordings floating around on CZcams.
Wow great lesson, thanks, but I wish those base notes weren't thrown in there, eek!
You don't have to use them, but you can.
❤👍
❤❤❤
Tip 😄
Ha ha. Thanks!
I never heard this song before
I like your T shirt.
To me you are Supergirl.
Great lessons.
You rock!
Where are you from Lauren?I like your accent, sounds very comfortable.
Boston 😊
😘😘❤
🤗
Disappointed in the Superman shirt over Spiderman.. Otherwise great video Thanks. Love this song
I actually don't have a Spiderman shirt. I have Superman, Batman and Captain America. I really need a Wonder Woman t-shirt but they are always sold out of my size when I go to the store.
@@LaurenBateman Damn :( I would check my locals for you but it would probably cost more than the shirt to ship from Australia
You are lovely 👍🏿
Aww thank you!
🙂🙃😉😊😇🥰
😎
Thank you for the swang!
You got it
Some people feel the rain. Others just get wet.
B. Dylan
Thanks Teach.... 🍎
The is a Capo cameo in this video
@@LaurenBateman 🌼 is her name...
her strumming pattern is actually wrong for the old crow version they hit a base note and strum down once theres no second down stroke there its more syncopated
Yes, they actually use a hopped rhythm. I believe Darius Rucker plays it the same way.
I want to Like this video just forget Ninja Turtle action figures lol
Ha ha. Awesome.
Or is it a mustang?
Camaro. I have a 1968
How did I never know bob Dylan was the original. Smh. Always thought it was old crow
Bro you look like Patrick bateman
Thanks for watching!
WoW what a great lesson - the contrast between the Dylan and the Crow versions was pretty stark both sounded really catchy - glad you pointed this out and explained it so well 😊🤗🤗🤗💕
