  • The Samruddhi Expressway project in India with a total length of 701 km called for a massive fleet of Wirtgen Group machines to create a uniform, high-quality pavement. The fleet included Hamm soil compactors 311, Hamm tandem rollers HD 99, Vögele asphalt pavers SUPER 1400, SUPER 1800-3, SUPER 1900-3, and SUPER 2100-3, along with Kleemann screens and scalpers. With its 150 km/h speed limit, this expressway is the fastest in India, cutting the time required to travel between Mumbai and Nagpur from 16 to 8 hours - thus demanding an optimal paving performance in terms of output and quality to ensure a comfortable and secure journey for drivers. Consequently, 16 Wirtgen SP 1600 slipform pavers were utilized to pour the concrete surface. Concrete is an ideal material for such a monumental task, due to its cost-effectiveness, longevity and low maintenance.
