I used to do it all the time but I didn’t get scared because loads of cats lived in the area and would always be in our garden, so I convinced myself that they’d protect me 😂
When I do things with my sister she is like your dad and ends up doing most of the work and I just loiter being annoying. Especially when it comes to flat packed furniture!! 😂
we used to do this in my friends back garden and our parents would all sleep in the house... not because we liked camping, just because there weren't enough beds for all of us lol :)
I grew up in the 80s and I had my Dad put our old tent up when I was about 10. 80s tents were definitely basic in design compared to nowadays. It was literally the old triangle shape. There was no "porch" area, zip up and you're in the main part, no bug protection. I had a fly get into it within 1 hour of it being erected and I was like "NOPE! Not happening!!", my poor Dad did all that work for nothing. I was such a spoilt child lol!

As someone who's had to go through the absolute torture of DofE and Scout Camps this was the funniest and cutest thing ever. The setting up of the tent reminds me of helping the Beavers and Cubs put up tents and the food just reminds me of how lazy everyone was when it came to what food we ate at night on DofE.
I am actually watching this in a tent in my living room! I camped every summer as a kid, but hardly at all as an adult and I missed it. My husband got a tent for his birthday last year that we haven’t used yet, so I surprised him last week with it all set up in the house (apartment with no yard). We have really been enjoying it!

Same I used to Camp in our garden a lot as a child but mostly on my own and we live in real nature with all kinds of animals around until one time my older sister wanted to Camp with me and we read the 3rd Harry Potter Book and made up Horror stories about Dementors around us. We went to sleep in our own beds that night and I never camped in the garden on my own again😂😂

When he was maybe 15 he slept in a bivouac (essentially a sheet acting as a cover using a cord to make tent shaped). Open at both ends! I couldn't do that, we have snakes around! I did open camping as a teen but that was in NZ where there are NO snakes and with other teens. I do love camping in a tent though, even now (I am at least your Mums age!). You did well, well done and hope you do venture out further when you can.
I last went camping in April, and the weather had been really nice the days before. Reaching 20° and all, which is glorious here in Southern Sweden after a long winter. On the day we camped, the temp dropped like crazy and after dinner (lovely steak and roasted potatoes with garlic butter) the wind picked up like crazy and it started snowing. We thought we might as well give it a go, but at 10 pm the temp had dropped to -5° and we were starting to feel the beginnings of hypothermia hahahahaha, we were definitely not prepared for the weather! We had to pick up camp and go home.
A minute in I was like, I have a feeling Grace is going to discover the beauty of camping... and then I was V happy when you did! 👏🏼 you’ll have to try it in a forest next time! Whole other experience.
When I was a kid I used to camp with my friends in my back garden. I still enjoy camping, but these days it's glamping, usually in the Lake District. I missed out on my birthday glamping weekend in April this year 😢. Stay safe 😊
We camped out over Easter on our Vango tent too! ♥️ Me, husband and two kids. And we bbqd for dinner. Cannot wait for it to warm back up again and set it back up. Camping is my happy place, definitely reset my batteries.

I was doing this last weekend, we got in the tent and the British weather came along...... it rained very very badly
