My grandmother's name was Odessa. She died on my lap in church 39 years ago. This song means a whole lot to me.. I was 5 when I hold her as she died. I miss her..

This is almost a year later but Charley is already up top
I know this song is about Odessa Texas, but I can’t help but think of the small town of Odessa Ontario that I grew up in.
I spent endless days in the creek across the road, or in the farmers fields out back just exploring and interacting with critters and nature.
The 3 or 4 years I spent there will forever be the highlight of my childhood.
Thank you for giving me a soundtrack to go along with the memories!

I’ve seen him perform 3 times in concert here in the Midwest, all were killer shows! Out of the 54,000 some minutes listened in my Spotify wrapped this year, Charley earned 4,500 of them. Every album he puts out just blows my expectations out of the water. It’s been a great experience these last 7 years listening to his music! There’s a reason spotify said I’m in the top .01% of his listeners. Simply can’t say thanks enough for all the amazing music over the years Charley!

To me “Odessa” is a hardship we all face in life and odessa can take many forms. A person, a place, a state of mind.. but its walk of life and a place we all go to in our heads at some point in our lives.. and odessa is a beautiful name for that special place

Grew up in Seminole TX not to far from Odessa. It isn't a place I keep on my mind to often.

Hey, Charley has been my favorite musician for a good minute now, and I'm genuinely surprised more folks don't know him. I traveled hard for a couple years myself when I was 18 with the alice pack, banjo, dog, zero money always, sadness forever, combat boots, etc.. and all of his songs just really speak to the pure experience of it. (Well, and Choking Victim, but shhhh...)
I saw him in DC in November. It was a truly life changing show. I love Charley and all his music.
