The independent country artist are really the way to go these days. Real country is back!
Yes yes yes
brandon beatty I’m a pretty avid country hater but I’m honestly fucking with this
Tanya Tucker
Its never left you just had to search for it a little harder.
@@amirpalamar7133 Im the same, Charley Crockett is something else tho. His more soul/blues albums are fuckin ON
Holy flipping crap. REAL country music is back. How am I just now discovering this dude? He's amazing. Sturgill Simpson, Tyler Childers, Colter Wall and now Charley Crockett.
This song is from 1972 so a lot more real Country Music was played back then.
add some cody jinks, turnpike troubadours in there
Add Matt heckler to your list
Its all about the red dirt...
Try nick shoulders and Paul Cauthen also
I havnt stop listening to Charley since I discovered him three weeks ago dude is great
Why isn’t anyone giving the Steel Guitar player a shout out. Solid AF!
Amen
Because most of the listening public doesn’t know that real steel guitar players are “born not made”.
Solid AF👍👍👍 The voice of the angles
When any artist starts off a country tune with the steel..come on man. So good. Unique and brilliant Charley.
That’s is why it’s so good
Like Graham and Buck
If you’re discovering Charley’s music, this song is essential.
I know he writes his own. I like his version and his vid. Song was originally sung and released by Tanya Tucker.
That would be me my Friend
I just discovered. Am blown away
@dannyingram3737 yes she did, back in 72 I believe.
This is the man they should be playing on the radio every day
Nope. They'd only ruin him.
@@williamwiggs6328 he said play on the radio not sign a contract with the devil.
I might listen to the radio if they did
No kidding . Nothin but crap they play in los Angeles
Him and Wheeler.
Bruh... ?? WTF am I just now hearing this guy.? Awesome , just Awesome.. Back to my roots.
This guy’s songs have an uncanny ability to get stuck in my head.
ManScoutsofAmerica for real I just decided to listen to it for the first time in a week even though it’s been in my head that whole time
Its a great song. Tanya tucker is the original singer. Her version is pretty awesome too
Been stuck in my head for weeks and glad it is
I first heard this song 72 hours ago and now know every single word to it. I've got this mug on repeat
Same
My uncle Mack Vickery wrote this song. I like the way Charlie Crockett does it.
My buddies dad wrote the song girls just wanna have fun
Charley Crocket could quite possibly have the most soothing voice ever.
A damn nice cover of a song Tanya Tucker released in the early 70s. About time we get some REAL country music!!
What is this!?! Holy shit! Real country music!
Sadly enough it's a cover. Well done cover though its just that real country isnt being written as much anymore
Old Tanya Tucker song if I remember correctly?
Josey Wales I was thinking patty loveless but you may be right
this person's dad Tanya did it in 1972 originally. Patty may have covered it at some point? She did a lot of classic songs live. She's from the next county over from me. I'm a huge Patty Loveless fan!
this person's dad his mew album welcome to hard times will suprise u
Well just look at that, will you just look at it, just look at that wow, just look at it
I thought he looked so familiar...I couldnt figure it out but you did haha
Bartledoo!
I only regret not knowing about Ed Bassmaster before 2019.
Sometimes you’ve just got to look at it, just take a step back and just look at it. Would you just look at that.
@@skynyrdnemoy2418 and put them on the news!
The fact that he's rockin the epiphone outdoors says a lot. Smart man.
Imagine not loving this song
I’m still convinced this is ed bassmaster
john Cummings Lmao was just thinking the samething
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! Best comment!!!!
Psh!
LMAO I THOUGHT IT WAS HIM WHEN I CLICKED ON THUMB NAIL
Would you look at that!
Great song, written by my dad Mack Vickery and Bobby Borchers.

@@concretecowboy9388 Is that a big deal? Who is that?
@@nunyabusiness3709 archon much?
@@nunyabusiness3709Look him up. Mack Vickery is a legend in songwriting.
seen your cousin in this comment section somewhere
Oh my God! Real country music! I thought it was dead!
This guy has really come along way. It's plus he's a really from Texas a true jewel of the Valley
Sir you will be my children's Willie Nelson ❤
Charley Crockett Band is a class act! Old school soul, original flare, clean/kind guys with integrity.
Definitely has that Tubb flair and cockiness
In this shitty day and age, old school is the only way to go. Charlie puts the "O" in old school. I dig it
Charley got his start as a criminal like most in this genre but I get where you were going with it lol
He has some notes of Hank Williams Sr in his music
This man is authentic as they come. Met him at a bar and he didn't hide his nice side. He has sweat his fair share of shows I tell you that!!.
This is a combination of filming locations in Colorado. Ouray, Ridgway and Silverton! How awesome I love those towns!
Durango too lol
Good catch. I was thinking same thing because I just drove thru Ouray and Silverton
So beautiful
That’s so dope! I live in the western slope and that’s so cool to know he filmed here
Wheres he at in front of the mountains in the beginning?
Tyler Childers, Colter Wall, Vincent Neil Emerson, and Charley Crocket are the future of real country music. They all have a little taste of something else in their music too. Tyler - bluegrass. Colter - folk. Vincent - Jazz. Charley - blues. But they all stay very true to country. They may as well become the Highwaymen 2.0. Thank God for them. Long live country music.
Don't forget the dead south can't leave those amazing Canadians out
The Ghoul Ranger they’re great for sure. But I’m talking about single artists (even though they now have bands with them like the scary prairie boys and the food stamps). They’re still mainly single artists. It’d be darn tooting amazing if they did some sort of collaboration together.
@@CowpokeCannoneer oh if you didn't know the main singer from the dead south and Colter wall have sang together before in a song lemme know if you want a link to it
Sierra Ferrell also
I wish your kind of country was on the radio.
You know it's good country music when you think it's a lot older than what it is.
This is actually a cover. But his sound still has that old timey flavor
These underground country artist should be the guys getting all the attention. Not this bubble gum bs they play on the radio.
I passed this by so many times until I finally clicked it. This is now the 3rd time in an hour
Universe was speaking 2 u
Charley is legit, authentic and so easy to listen to. The day he ends up on mainstream radio is the day his music is lost. I wish you much success, but stay true, stay resilient and stay determined to share your gift not the "gift" that they sell you.
lol, what a hipster-ish comment.
Hipster
Stumbled upon this artist during covid. Bought a bunch of his songs.
🌴😎🌈Aloha 🤙🏼
I get Motown vibes from this masterpiece.
Whoever decided on the backgrounds needs commendations
Colorado. Around Silverton.
@@birdpi1ot looks a little like Durango too.
Looks like Silverton to me. Absolutely beautiful town.
100% Silverton Colorado, I've been to the shady lady saloon and a few of the overlooks of town look like they are at the miners shrine up on the hillside
Strater Hotel in Durango, CO and Blair St. in Silverton, CO and the San Juan Mountains on Hwy 550 between the two towns
Bring real Country music back. Just. Like . This.
It sounds like real country, but if you knew that he grew up in NYC singing music in the subways that sounds nothing like country and only changed his sound a few years ago, would that change your mind?
RC he did not grow up doing that. He grew up in south Texas and later moved to Dallas and performed in Dallas
H and M Fishing ok, maybe he didn’t grow up in NY but is early stuff sounded nothing like this and the videos show him in NY subways. It was far from “Real” country.
A case of gone was all she carried
As she got on the Jamestown Ferry
And she said that gone was all she'd ever be 😢👌
Does anyone else replay this song a few times if only it was like 10 min long 🥰
Yes
Dang , I love this guy !!!! Brings back REAL country music !!!!!!
Just realized this is a Tanya Tucker song and that makes it rock even more
Charles if you see this, thank you buddy. Love your soul.
Just heard of this guy a few days ago and i cant get enough of this song and his music.
same
That is why I am here now!
@@slavenssarah - me too
It is a Tanya tucker song
@@somedude3601 Yes written by Mack Vickery and Bobby Borchers.
People like this dude are the only hope for real country right now
Shit he is so good and so real, true country music should be, back to its roots. this is lovely to listen to 🎶👌🏻
Had the privilege of seeing him live in Luckenbach, TX 04/21
I'm someone who likes basically every genre of music we got but Charley has the best voice I ever heard.
agreed. you should check out aa bondy
Cannot stop playing this damned song.
REAL MUSIC! YES!
Pedal Steel intro=LEGENDARY!!!!!!
This is YT's saving grace; finding new music. Great sound.
When I listen to your music, I'm transported back in time listening to my grandmothers jukebox as a kid. THANK you for keeping real country alive man!
Then I guess you realize he's butchering Tanya Tuckers song. How dare he pose on the video as if he wrong the song 00:24. What a disgusting hack.
@@morgan1719 huh?
This is true country and western.
Thank you for playing real country with steel guitar the possum, haggard, and all the legends are proud
2:33 gets me all excited, sends shivers through my body. THAT'S A DAMN GOOD STEEL GUITAR.
Pure, soulful, western. Filling corners of my empty spots.
The absolute best in country right now. Charlie is killin it!
Thank you Colter Wall Radio (:
Proud of this guy from my neighborhood hitting the million views!!!
This song haunts me. What an amazing artist.
yes indeed 👍
This is only a cover, but I gotta be honest, it's better than the original.
@@diegogomez7240 mmmm this is good. But Tanya tucker is unbeaten
@@sinbadk.7667 true, I’m not gonna argue with anyone on that, but I think because I’m a dude, this resonates with me more cause it’s from a man’s perspective.
@@diegogomez7240most of his covers are somehow better. you wouldn’t think it could get any better. but he does just that.
wow... just thinking... REAL country music is back!
Real country don't stop singing it
Nashville doesn't know what it's missing by not playing songs like these. Truly amazing..
They played this A LOT when Tanya Tucker first released it. Definitely agree they should bring it back though
This is so freakin good. I can't even figure out how to describe his music style when I tell people about him. It's just something completely unique.
Tanya Tucker style since he’s covering her song🙌
It's motown with a great steel guitar player.
Charley Crockett, Colter Wall, Midland. Country is in good hands.
Qriminal 1:64 never ever fathomed country music was always into hip hop(which I still am) until I heard colter wall, then I heard midland and today I discovered this man.
Qriminal 1:64 also tyler childers and cody jinks
Thank you Colter Wall Radio!!!
I think I’ve listened to this song about 100 times since finding it. Charley you a real one buddy!
His style is immaculate. The shot of the grain mountain and trees and him with the most vibrant colors
I didn’t think I would like this cover as much as Tanya’s, but I was surprised! What a great refresh of this classic Hit!
Charley I saw you in Florida with my Mom. You are sooooo GOOD. LUV YA. your fan Kaitlin Rivera
Well hell, that was mighty fine, mighty fine indeed.
Stumbled across this guy on Spotify. Glad i did!
I did also.
So did I
Same, listening to turnpike troubadours radio lol. We struck gold
I didn't even think I liked country, and yet here I am.
The terrain does not really lend it self to a place where there would be a ferry. Good song, great video.
I have listened to this a 1000 times and never gets old
You should listen to the original by Tanya Tucker in 1972
@@louisianawolfeyes6314 I enjoy it also 🙂
A breathe of fresh air. Not enough singer story tellers out there. Definitely not enough people using 50's rock fades.
Man I listen to this song 15 times a day
That steel guitar brought me back in time . Nothing like George straight, Alan Jackson , Loretta Lin Dolly Parton and many more greats .. And now hearing come alive 2024 most wholesome feeling and kind of country needed ❤
She just caught the Jamestown Ferry
It's not a hot day in January
Like she said it'd be
If she ever left me
A case of gone was all she carried
As she got on the Jamestown Ferry
And she said that gone was all she'd ever be
I didn't think that she'd leave me
After sayin' how much she needs me
But the fact still remains
I'm sittin' here all alone
Missin' the lovin' of my baby
Lord, it's about to drive me crazy
She was the sweetest piece of heaven I've ever known
She just caught the Jamestown Ferry
It's not a hot day in January
Like she said it'd be
If she ever left me
A case of gone was all she carried
As she got on the Jamestown Ferry
And she said that gone was all she'd ever be
As I walk through that valley
Of honkeytonks and bars
I remember how she'd hold me
And comfort me with talk
She didn't cuss with every breath
She had a soothing southern drawl
Made me feel like a man through it all
She just caught the Jamestown Ferry
It's not a hot day in January
Like she said it'd be
If she ever left me
holy crap im glad guys like this are keeping the traditions alive and breathing new life in the western culture
Real country boys
It's still alive
Wow, love this guy. Listening all the way from the UK..
American music is alive and thriving
This is incredible, as a tanya Tucker fan I've dreamed of performing this song from a male perspective
Man new fan right here that's a sound country and the blues has been missing for so long man you got it Charley 2 thumbs up brother and Texas roots as my own man.....
Charley's got me convinced she was the sweetest piece of heaven he's ever known.
Men like him will always keep real country alive, god bless them.
Unbelievable. Amazing. Charley Crockett is the shit ... can’t wait to see him live!
He's so on point live and dances once he's warmed up he does so great man
Charley Crockett is the best up and coming artist out now! He is legit outlaw and on fire with the music right now. Hope has arrived for this generation of music.
The most underrated video on youtube????
First time hearing this song, listening to it about 30 mins away from the Jamestown ferry lmao
Thankful for digital media. I found this song 2 says ago and I literally would have worn out an old cassette by now. Been looping it over and over. Brings back some deep nostalgic feelings.
I love that country. I used to work for outward bound doing mountaineering courses in the San Juans. We would get resupplied by the silverton train.
My gosh Charlie is just larger than life. When George said who's gonna fill their shoes? Charlie has a pair of em. That's for sure.
Just found this. Man this is country music. Finally some good sounding stuff instead of the kids crap of today.
Of all the songs in the world, this was stuck in my head.
Cant wait for the Denver show! 2024
After seeing the disgraceful CMT awards, this is a reminder real country still lives.
Idk why sometimes it takes a few listens for some songs to click for me. The first time i listened i was thinking this wasnt bad. It only took another listen for this to sink in how good it is. And now im freakin hooked. I hope you keep on keepin on. God bless
Exact same with me... especially artists like colter wall, Cody jinks, and Sturgill... This is my first listen and hoping ima love it
Wow, glad I found this on my suggested videos. Now that sounds like real country. Love the steel guitar.
How does this not have over a million views ?!?!?!?!?
The shot in the birch trees is 🔥
This song has played in my head hundreds of times since I first heard it... months and months ago.
