That's really useful for auto sorting trains without needing any complex routing, even giving priorities to some paths in the case two trains move out at the same time. Also, for fun stuff.
Shalz, both examples can be made using signal blocks. They will emit Redstone power whenever a train is on the passage, which means that you need only one input from particularly first signal block to force gate into lower position using normal gearshift, which will return the gate in its first state when train comes off the passage. Sorry for awful English, not my mother tongue + almost no practice made it this bad)

You didn’t superglue the train tracks to the blocks. Superglue all the blocks together, and then find the train hit box, and glue it to the middle line of blocks under the track. Only works for straight pieces, not curved ones.
It won't work, train tracks are immovable

Couldn't you use a mechanical bearing and a sequencial gearshift?
Trains don't work on contraptions. When create aronautics comes out you will be able to put trains on contraptions, and also airships cars boats ect.

You CAN move the tracks(trchnicly), as deployers can place them, and drills can break them

I think you should build a working railway with cargo and the passenger trains stations and have some building stations❤ that would be really cool
Very easy fix to this. Make redstone signal destroy and replace tracks on the rail turns so it can choose which way the train goes. This can be done by drill(mby) and mechanical hand with rail in hand.
For gates, can use elevator pulley as well.
You could probably use the train detector or whatever its called ,and end the railway after that and start seperate rails and then if the train is for example filled with lava it gets lifted up by an elevator and then pushed to the left and put on the left railway and then just use more detectors for the different ways and different trains

but you can make a train shedbule on a train station and the rain ins collenting them and if the signal is trigger it can give the rain the shedbule to which station it should go

I just thought about a smuggling/contraband system that could be used with train observers
Say there is a village that your train runs through
They specifically disallow lava buckets and tnt
They have observers set up to detect those items
you could carry them with you and since you are not a train you can get them through the station
Or another scenario is that only registered trains may use the rails and the observers would detect the registration "card" and let the train pass and if not the train is Discreetly relocated to a area where the train can be either stopped and searched for contraband or allowed to go down a different route
As imagine a random player driving a train down a crucial rail line that normally moves water to a steam turbine power plant or heavens forbid a nuclear power plant cooling system
and the system would have a maintenance mode id "card" specifically to allow maintenance workers to drive down the track without being diverted
so if the train doesn't have a id "card" at all it would divert the train instead of it blocking the important train be moved to a different track
the system is hidden as not to create a market for fake train id "cards"
or be bypassed by malicious players

Maybe its Possible to replace the tracks true comamnd blocks. When the train drives over the signal they send a redstone signal to Command blocks that replaces the old tracks whit air and places new ones. Probally it will only work when you see the tracks oterwhise the train will glitch out dont know

and not being able to (de)assemble trains with redstone is sad too

tip: instead of a rope pulley you can use a piston for vertical and horizontal gates/doors, it’s faster with less lag
use a link, a redstone toggle latch, and a gearbox to swap the rotation for opening/closing
