    • @Musicsports
      @Musicsports Před 2 lety

      Ya, I have Seymour Duncan Antiquity 2 pickups and I set them a similar height. Combined with a Fender tube amp set with the bass at about 3, mids at 5 and treble at 7, you can get close to the SRV sound. A treble booster like the Pedal Pawn really helps. Note: No matter what amp you use, a Kingtone Heavy Hand will take you a long way toward the SRV tone.

    I love how your starting “clean tone” is a dialed SRV tone that’s better than I can dial in with any and every piece of gear I own. Lol Face Palm.
    I still want that Texan Twang pedal, so bad. Hoping that it will be able to take my Hot Rod Deville as close to SRV as I can get with what I’ve got. Everything so far gets close, but not close enough for me. Tried the Fulltone 69’, the Steel Singer, Tube Screamer, Marshall DSL20, Fender HRDv 212 IV….. and of course Strat with SD SSL-1’s and higher action and lowered pickups, w/ 11-49’s. And as far as “Tone is in the Fingers”, I’m working on it. Lol

    • @theriffwniksevigny5473
      @theriffwniksevigny5473  Před 2 lety

      Hey man. So, the twang pedal is t going to give you the “tone”. Its a treble booster, its going to expose the higher frequency of what you are working with. Its not the gear as you said. But, the Deville is a different circuit. Maybe look into a Deluxe or Vibrolux for more of that Blackface type tone. Then, you can just plug straight in and enjoy

    • @Exsomos
      @Exsomos Před 2 lety

      @@theriffwniksevigny5473 I’m aware the Hot Rod Deville isn’t the most classic black face or SRV voiced amp, but with enough tweaking, you can get some acceptable and passable Classic Black Face & some SRV tones out of it. I would have gone for a Pro Reverb or Super Reverb or Blues Deluxe, but I needed more modern features out of the Amp.
      I have been able to get a couple SRV style tones out of my HRD and my Fulltone 69’, like a pretty decent Lenny tone. Still fine tuning other tones.
      Anywho, thanks for input dude!

      I wouldnt say its for an srv sound. Its just more in the style of playing. A cesar diaz type fuzz with the guitar volume rolled back, will help produce those glassy tin pan alley tones for sure

    • @ThePortolio
      @ThePortolio Před 4 lety +1

      As the Pedal Pawn Fuzz is a clone of the Cesar Diaz Fuzz and is told to clean up very glassy it should be the better choice for a SRV sound, right ? Bonus: Cranked it gives you the Hendrix sound as I understand...
