- Here is PedalPawn's take on the coveted Cesar Diaz Texas Ranger!
I put this treble booster up against an old Diaz Ranger from my collection!
Check out the tones, hear their similarities and their differences!

Thanks Everyone!
PEACE!
Thanks a lot Nik! This video is so cool for us to watch :)
Man even just your clean tone is a dream tone !
Perfect strat tone ever !
Great video Nik.. Both are great pedals!! And sound very similar. But I NEED to get a Pedal Pawn Texas Twang. And great playing as usual
Awesome playing Nik, I want to get one of these if I can’t find a Diaz
What a great video, the Pedal Pawn Texan Twang sounds every bit as great as the Diaz Texas Ranger, but you can buy the Texan Twang to order!!! Fantastic
Once again Nik - awesome video, great to see you in Matt’s Nashville guitar-safari video to! Now I need this pedal as well 😅. Have a nice weekend. Peace.
Nik your videos are killing it, absolutely loving the content!
3:55 wait WHAT!? haha amazing lick my dude !
You’re one of the few cats I see with their pickups’ heights off the pickguard. I may need to experiment. Nice video!
Ya, I have Seymour Duncan Antiquity 2 pickups and I set them a similar height. Combined with a Fender tube amp set with the bass at about 3, mids at 5 and treble at 7, you can get close to the SRV sound. A treble booster like the Pedal Pawn really helps. Note: No matter what amp you use, a Kingtone Heavy Hand will take you a long way toward the SRV tone.
Sounds like that hand heeled just fine. Nik is TEARING IT UP!!!!!!!
Oh man! Nik, I’ve only just picked up on this pedal 😮
Holy cow man, this is THE pedal!
👍🇦🇺
Great segment...AND exceptional licks, Nik!
Thank you my friend!
So very close Would like to hear how the Homestead falls in there as well Very cool Nik That circuit has become my core tone Love it every bit as much as my fuzz Maybe more
Sounds F’n killer!!! Both pedals are A+
holy smoke, nice playing. the pedal sounds amazing too. both of them.
SWEET!!! both sound KILLER!!!!!!
The one we all been waiting for 🎯🤯
Coming in hot for 2020 with great content as usual brother!! If adding either one to your pedal board doesn't motivate or inspire you to pick up your guitar and play everyday untill the cops show up or your girl threatens to leave your dead inside! 🤣😆
Super Nik ! Thank you for your work!
Gotta have one man, incredible tone there.
Awesome playing - great pedals, thank you!
you've got that srv tone down pat. Sounds awesome!!
Good video Nik 👍👍
Great playing and tone by the way
Great upload, mate.
Love it , that is kicking...
Sold!
WOW!!!
your clean tone was already good enough LOL!!
Nice video Nik
When you got fuzzy and distorted around 6min 30secs it sounded alot like a msxon sd9 ala Mike Landau and that's not a bad thing at all. Landau it's fierce
Excuse my ignorance but that’s a pedal your talkin about
Diaz ,for sure
Holy tone batman!!
Bro, I was finally able to get a texan twang pedal and as soon as I turned it on i got a heavy radio frequency. It only happens when the pedal is on. What should I do?
Send it back and ask for a new one
Hey! Same thing happened with me but I was told to try to use a battery and it fixed everything ! Hope this helps
i guess tune up your favourite radio station and jam on it then :D :D (sorry for the spam)
I love how your starting “clean tone” is a dialed SRV tone that’s better than I can dial in with any and every piece of gear I own. Lol Face Palm.
I still want that Texan Twang pedal, so bad. Hoping that it will be able to take my Hot Rod Deville as close to SRV as I can get with what I’ve got. Everything so far gets close, but not close enough for me. Tried the Fulltone 69’, the Steel Singer, Tube Screamer, Marshall DSL20, Fender HRDv 212 IV….. and of course Strat with SD SSL-1’s and higher action and lowered pickups, w/ 11-49’s. And as far as “Tone is in the Fingers”, I’m working on it. Lol
Hey man. So, the twang pedal is t going to give you the “tone”. Its a treble booster, its going to expose the higher frequency of what you are working with. Its not the gear as you said. But, the Deville is a different circuit. Maybe look into a Deluxe or Vibrolux for more of that Blackface type tone. Then, you can just plug straight in and enjoy
@@theriffwniksevigny5473 I’m aware the Hot Rod Deville isn’t the most classic black face or SRV voiced amp, but with enough tweaking, you can get some acceptable and passable Classic Black Face & some SRV tones out of it. I would have gone for a Pro Reverb or Super Reverb or Blues Deluxe, but I needed more modern features out of the Amp.
I have been able to get a couple SRV style tones out of my HRD and my Fulltone 69’, like a pretty decent Lenny tone. Still fine tuning other tones.
Anywho, thanks for input dude!
Thanx a lot!!!
Thank you!
have you ever tried Tooper Electronic Pemburu= Monyet purple series signature Rama Satria? many people recommend it to get srv tone
Rama is great. It must be good!
Nik, I think the R weaver stuff sounds better then the pedal pawn and has a lot better build quality. Do you agree?
Hard to say pedal pawn might be more balanced more treble to.
Thats the gain of the pedal. That fizz comes thru as top end!
I like that
Finally pulled the trigger on one today
Diaz all the way but still close
For us guys out here, how do you set up your amp for these tones? EQ and how much are you pushing the power section? Thx
Usually volume on a super reverb on 6
Treble 6-8 mids 8 bass 3
@@theriffwniksevigny5473 thanks a lot, Nick!
Thanks for the interest
I use higher powered speakers, so to make up for it, ill push the tubes a little hotter via the bias and just dial the eq in
Yeah that Diaz is Nicccce
Killer tones! If you were to stack with a fuzz, would you go ranger into fuzz or fuzz into ranger?
Fuzz into ranger!
THE RIFF W NIK SEVIGNY, do you know any other texas ranger clone pedals? to get that SRV sound?
I wouldnt say its for an srv sound. Its just more in the style of playing. A cesar diaz type fuzz with the guitar volume rolled back, will help produce those glassy tin pan alley tones for sure
@@theriffwniksevigny5473 does rolling back the guitar volume on a normal fuzz face do the same glassy tin pan ally tone or no?
I'm looking for a pedal that does that glassy tin pan ally tones any other pedals that can get that tone?
As the Pedal Pawn Fuzz is a clone of the Cesar Diaz Fuzz and is told to clean up very glassy it should be the better choice for a SRV sound, right ? Bonus: Cranked it gives you the Hendrix sound as I understand...
@@ThePortolio yes i know but what is causing that glassy sound because my stock dunlop fuzz face and my 60's fuzz face doesn't do this glassy tone any reasons why?
@@billwilliams6338 yeah, no glassy tones from my Hendrix Dunlop Fuzz too. Some secret sauce that Chris from Pedal Pawn found I guess. That´s why I ordered his Fuzz today :)
Do you like the blues power over this more or no?
They are two different pedals
There is no “srv” pedal. Its all in the eq
The blues power is a fat boost. The twang is a treble boost
The Riff w Nik Sevigny Thanks! I have the duellist (leads) and I wanted to try the blues power to fatten up my super reverb. Wasn’t sure if you preferred one over the other.
Great playing. A/B with King Tone Blues Power?
Does any of this work without a cranked Fender?
Cheers!
They really show what they can do with the amp pushed. Not sure you will
Get the same results at low volume!
@@theriffwniksevigny5473 How about a video comparing the Blues Power pedal with the Texas Twang/Ranger pedals... Keep the great vids coming!
#thesefingerskillit ✨
My ears like the diaz more but my bank account likes the pedal pawn more lol
THE RIFF W NIK SEVIGNY, the cesar diaz texas ranger has a transistor , what transistor part number is it? and what transistor part number does the Pedal pawns texas ranger use?
Is that thing just a fuzz face!?????
Treble boost
@@theriffwniksevigny5473 cool cause it sounds just like my fuzz face when it’s dimed and ye roll the volume bk
SRV guitar clones are annoying.
You too baby!
