You can damage the piston in the caliper by clamping directly on the surface that pushes the brake pad, it's recommended you use the old brake pad between it and your clamp to help prevent damaging it when squeezing it back into place

Just changed pads and rotors on my 2010 Avalanche and most everything went well until I removed the bracket bolts .I couldn't believe how hard the bolts were to remove until I got them out and three of the four bolts had booged threads and this was the first time the brackets were removed ,they were so bad I replaced the bolts other then this it is a straightforward job.

Yep...i just did this tonight on my 04 chevy avalanche. Never heard the wear indicator, and on a two hour trip, we were out of pad and grinding into the rotor on the rear passenger side. They didn't have the AC delcos in stock, so I had to go with the Wagner OEX pads. Got the bad side done tonight, plan to go back and get another rotor to do the drivers side rear. Why not....with 200k on the vehicle, new rotors are probably due anyways. Did you notice any uneven rubbing after putting the new ones on? im hearing a slight rub as the tire rotates, and it only rubs a hair where it appears to be a high spot. Hoping it will even out after a day or two of driving/braking.

I think it lightly rubbed for a day or two with the brand new pads and rotors because there was not much extra space with both being replaced.
