When we thought we didn't needed a rock power ballad, Nemophila said "Here's one to melt your heart!". Mayu is just fantastic!
Pretty song. But "Now I Here" is still my favorite ballad of theirs.

Two other great more ballad like songs are "Life" and "Now I Here" (no typo there 🙂) And for something more different try "Style". Oh, I forgot their cover of the Minions' Banana Song. 🤪

There isn’t a single song they perform in any sub-genre I don’t love. I lean towards their heavier music, but love all their ballads, Nu-Metal, Industrial Metal, and covers. Fabulous band.

The song was chosen as the campaign song for “Oshiri Tantei: Saraba Aishiki Oshiri (The Movie Oshiri Tantei: Saraba Aishiki Buddy) Yo” (Japanese only)
Composed by Ryosuke Imai (A big-name song-writer and producer, Ryosuke Imai, who's worked in pop, R&B, hip hop. He's probably best known for his work with J-Pop superstar Namie Amuro, especially her song "Hero". He saw Nemophila at the Aftershock Fest in Sacramento in 2022 and liked their sound. I think he knows Mayu from way back.)

Mayu said she was thinking of her baby boy who was sick when she sang this, Saki said she was channelling Brian May for some of the counter-melody in the chorus.
Imai explained that the song title "Odyssey" evokes the epic poem of that name from ancient Greece. Just as the protagonist Odysseus experienced a life-transforming journey, so the trajectory a band follows or any human relationship follows-lovers, husband/wife, parent/child-is a transformational journey.
I think this is going to be a big deal song in Japan for Nemophila, not sure if it will be a hit, but people will know who they are after this (metal music isn't popular in Japan so any positive notice a metal band gets outside of the metal world is a big deal).
Why do people freak out when you have 5 top quality musicians that can play anything.....come out with a ballad. They absolutely killed it.
And got to hear another side of Mayu's beautiful voice !!!!!

Beautiful rock ballad. These ladies can play anything. They dont have many slow songs. Life is one you reacted too. Also off the first album Game Over which has some chuggy heavy breakdowns and wonderful solos. Also Now I Here off the last album. Great solos on that one too.

If you wanna see even more sides to their music I would recommend ENIGMA (industrial Metal) or STYLE (Nu Metal)
