I exercised regularly, didn't drink or smoke, but my BP always hovered around 140-145/80-85. Two and a half years ago I went on intermittent fasting (8 hrs/16 hrs.) and added potassium to my diet in the form of 1 full teaspoon of NoSalt potassium chloride every day. Within a couple of months my BP went to the neighborhood of 100-120/60-65 and has stayed there. I take out 15 minutes every morning and take 3 BP readings at 2 minute intervals which my machine averages. This morning I was 107/64 average for the three readings. Not bad for a 73 year old guy!

I was on BP lowering medicine for years until being diagnosed Type 2 Diabetic. That scared me. High blood pressure was normal in my family and, I thought, normal as you age. I researched T2D and was astounded to find it was 100% diet induced and fully reversible. Within two weeks I was off the Metformin and insulin, and Surprise! Surprise! I had to stop taking my BP meds. I asked my doctor about why he never told me about this, he said it takes so much exercise to overcome the high sugar diet. I told him no, you stop eating the sugar and carbs. What an idiot. He's not my doctor anymore.
My one and only visit with the Dietician was a train wreck. Totally wrong info. Everything she told me to do would have made me worse. Chronic and progressive, just like my doctor told me when diagnosed.
In conclusion, DO NOT TRUST YOUR DOCTOR! Check things out yourself. Do your own research. Figure things out for yourself.
Unfortunately, we need doctors to get prescription medications and have certain tests done. But you use the info. The doctor's solution is drugs or surgery. Neither of which heal you.

I recently read an amazing book called "The Salt Fix." It blows my mind that mainstream doctors still recommend a low salt diet for the majority of people. I got diagnosed with hypertension and my doc gave me a diuretic and told me to limit salt intake. I had horrible side effects from the medication, and the low salt diet caused brain fog, muscle weakness, and fatigue.
In the book I learned that healthy kidneys can remove up to 45 grams of salt per day. For comparison, the "experts" recommend limiting salt intake to less than 2 grams per day. Our bodies have five different systems for handling excess salt, but ZERO systems to handle long-term salt deficiency.
I've recently begun intermittent fasting, low carb diet, and diatomaceous earth to help lower my blood pressure naturally. Wish me luck!

When I was Hypertensive Crisis 180/160, I took 500mg of Resveratrol, which is a concentrated form of the stuff in red wine, and my BP dropped immediately to 160/140. That took me out of crisis and helped keep it lower as I lost weight. I stayed using it while I started Keto and IF. The BP was dropping in concert with my weight and visceral fat percentage. I'm now using Resveratrol 250mg as a maintenance. Also, with high BP, the Insulin Resistance helps to damage the eye, as my ocular pressure was very high. Now it's normal and the floaters are all removed.
Thank you for mentioning the sodium issue and the misperceptions. We only use Iodized salt when cooking and iodine is a critical element, much like potassium and is extremely important for pregnant women and young children for brain development. My daughters have POTS syndrome and they can get lightheaded and pass out because they don't have enough blood volume. They need to take salty foods and drink water. Fludrocortisone 0.1mg is prescribed for two of the three. Also, BP can be high if you are dehydrated. The key to taking effective blood pressure tests is to create a consistent test environment, where you are not over hydrated or under hydrated. It's best to drink a glass and a half of water 20 minutes before taking a BP test. Cuff BP meters are far more accurate than wrist ones.

Great Video! Worth every minute spent watching this video!
Normally doctors do not explain 'why' part of their advices. They expect you to take their advice without any questions. May be they are too busy.
But here answers are available to those normally un-explained 'why' s - in an 'easy to understand' way.
Hence I find myself returning to this channel frequently.
Really Great work. And Thanks indeed.

I lost 7 kilos within 2months. My BP is starting to be within the normal range. And in general i think much greater. More energy, more focus on my job. Clear mind....and so on and so forth. Thank you again. Keto is a king and the crown is yours. Best wishes from Azerbaijan.

Dr. Ekberg: I have just begun watching your educational videos (I have started a playlist of them!) I must tell you that I always had low blood pressure all my life until I reached my late 60s when I began to notice my blood pressure creeping up. I also began to gain extra weight especially in my belly. I decided to do intermittent fasting, begin a walking exercise program, and cut back on carbs. I also drink hibiscus tea and some beet juice. To my delight and surprise for the past approximately one month I have been off all blood pressure medication‘s, and now my blood pressure is approximately 105/65, and I have lost 10 pounds. Just wanted to let you know this stuff really works! And thank you for your tremendous teaching videos. 😁

Thank you, I was in a state of confusion whether to make an appointment to see a doctor today. Now I know what help should I look for when talking to the doctor, because I am on BP medication.
