- E3 is just around the corner and speculating new nintendo games coming to switch is REALLY FUN! And with leaks and rumors going around about a new donkey kong game developed by the super mario odyssey team got me thinking... so I thought out-loud and turned it into a video!

As one of the only twelve people on earth that actually LIKES Donkey Kong 64, even I have to say he deserves another attempt at a 3D game.
Well considering Oddysey ended with Peach dumping both Mario and Bowser and walking away, I'm not really surprised that this game didn't get a sequel.

Hot take: I actually would rather see a 2.5D Donkey Kong than a 3D one, because Nintendo hasn’t made a first party 2d platformer for the switch, and I feel like Tropical Freeza has a unique charm that 3D platformers (while great) can’t capture

A new 3D Donkey Kong would be such a refreshing change of pace. I feel like we've been stewing in a quagmire of sameness for the last 20 years only getting 3D Mario and 3D Zelda games.

Thing is EPD is a very large company which means it’s very much possible they could be working on both Odyssey 2 AND this rumoured DK game. I mean there’s literally no reason not to make a sequel to Odyssey
That’s what I’ve been saying, if it’s a 3D donkey Kong game then probably they’re not working on odyssey 2 or odyssey 2 isn’t in full delevopment but if it’s a 2D DK game then they’re probably working on something else
Every 3D Mario minus Sunshine has at least supposed to have a sequal so I'm really hoping for this

The most likely scenario is that Nintendo do have a team working on a new 3D Mario game, but it's not going to be literally "Odyssey 2". It'll probably be an evolution/combination of the two formulae used in Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

I just had an amazing idea. The Donkey Kong game could take place in tandem with Super Mario Odyssey. Maybe there could be a part where you see the NDC festival in the background.
I think you should do these types of vids more because it give you AND us peoples insights about things. I think this is REALLY cool!

The thumbnail made me think of how cool it would be if Bowser and DK teamed up and kidnapped Pauline and Peach and Mario and Luigi worked together to defeat both of them. It would be pretty awesome imo, the multiplayer would have both Mario and Luigi each with their own Cappy. Maybe Luigi’s hat could be Cappy’s cousin.

DK Jungle Climber was the first Donkey Kong game I ever played and my very first introduction to Donkey Kong himself

The Odyssey team is very well capable of working on multiple projects at once, and besides: an Odyssey sequel is better of coming on a stronger console -wich Nintendo might be working with Nvidia on.

What I’d like is a 3D Wario Land game, mostly based on WL3. The way you used enemies in odyssey was reminiscent of Kirby’s copy abilities, but it shares similar principles to Wario’s reactions. Having Wario Land’s unique blending of power ups and failstates for puzzle solving in a 3D context would be amazing. They could make it a collectathon but I think it would be more interesting if they took the sort of Metroidvania-esque progression where finding a treasure chest affects the world and opens the path to another or a couple of them, or gives you a new move. Wario Land needs a comeback, and this is just one of the ways it could work
Technically, there already is a 3D Warioland game: Wario World.
