    I know this is an older video but I just came upon it. Old or not it is very nicely done. The pendants are very nice indeed. Fantastic finish. Great coloring. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and remember, when the wood goes around the face shield goes down.🙂🙂

    Liked and subed. Hi Martin, i had no idea you could do things like those on a lathe. You have just added a load of ideas for me to try when my first lathe gets to me at the end of September, the only regret i have a bout wood turning is not trying it many years ago when i first though about it. Keep the videos coming there all great thank you.

    Those are beautiful and the finish is especially good considering you are working with end grain. I bought a pack of those spirit dyes but I'm kinda scared of them because I'm colourblind so I'm not sure of what gos with what. Maybe I'll discover some unique, bizarre, colour match that will surprise the World. Then again... maybe not.
    Best Wishes, Brendan.

    Loved the video Martin, going to try it myself, but as I live in Lanzarote getting timber is a nightmare. the only timber I can get is Pine out of Pallets, Have you ever tried making pendants out of Pine, and what was the result?

    Great video Martin, I really enjoyed this one. I use Lacquer on 90% of my work and have done so for a few years now. I have never applied it to that depth however, and was impressed with how they had turned out. Have you ever taken a small flatwork to that depth of finish? (By small I mean A4 - A5 size)
    Maybe I should try one at some point. Anyhow, keep up the vids, they are a nice break from my burning whilst I have a brew. :)

    • @SteveWright-sunlion
      @SteveWright-sunlion Před 9 lety

      ***** Thanks Martin, and yes I am very well thanks. I generally do up to three coats. I tend to soft brush my Lacquer, using the flow method on the first. ie brush lightly touches the wood and the lacquer flows and evens out, with some soak up from the wood. (A delicate operation) After that is dry, I bush two thinner coats, so probably comparable to your spraying 4-5 coats.
      (If I have added colour I tend to use a couple or more spray coats of fixativ first mind, as I often use watercolour with my pyro, apart form my recent experiments with the pencils you have probably seen).
      look forward to your next vids.
      Steve/Sunlion

    Great video Martin! I enjoyed it very much and really liked you showing all the details! I have turned a number of pendents and find they always are most welcomed as gifts to friends and family. One question though, you mentioned using 'bench oil' to cover the dyed colors to bring out the color...bench oil? Maybe mineral oil or? Not sure what that is and know it must be something compatible with laquer...but??? Again thanks for the video and look forward to your future ones! Safe turning always!

      Hi Mumma Toni...The bits on the end of the leather pendant cords are called Cord Ends. eBay has loads of them, all different sizes. I searched for 'Leather Pendant Findings'.
      I hope that helps,

      Probably Chestnut Acrylic Gloss Lacquer. Chestnut is a UK company. You could use Hampshire Sheen lacquer, car lacquer, used by some, or Minwax Wipe on Poly.
