    Hello everyone,
    HAPPY NEW YEAR!
    In this episode we head north to Loch Arkaig where we spend a few nights enjoying the calm conditions on the loch. The fog was a bit heavy after the first day so we stayed by the car for most of our time on the loch. We were lucky enough to spot a pair of sea eagles and either a young eagle or a golden eagle perched in a tree, I found out later that there were both nesting sea and golden eagles on the loch this year and there is an eagle viewing hut on the south shore in the hills.
    Thanks for watching and stay tuned for part 2,
    All the best for the new year,
    Ben.

    I haven't hot tent canoe camped for a long time. I love the amount of space and the fact you can warm up your tent, cook and chill during the cold days and evenings. I have an old Moskotelkatan Arran 5 and a Kifaru stove that's been stored away for the last ten years. Your lovely wee film has inspired me to dust them both off and put them into good use again. Looking forward to watching your next upload, cheers Fred

    Great video mate. Glad you got some clear weather
    I’m a massive fan of Canadian canoes 🛶 and hot tents. ( my little girl came in and went we do that dad lol)
    Loving the north water spray deck. ( very Jim Baird) great in our crappy rainy climate I bet.
    Tiny burn holes part of the hot tent experience lolz. Tear aid, clear tape is what you need. Invisible tougher than original tent. Avoid pine wood spits and the resin will gum your flu up.

    To avoid condensation, damp inside, moisture etc you have to use canvas tents or at least cotton inner. The downside of course is weight, drying etc but still superior to the plastics, vinyls, nylons etc. Some tents are a mix with the nylons being the greater content, but not as good. I take my hat off to backpackers who use nylon in winter, then keep all vents open to avoid a soaking and have the wind howling through! 😊
    All best for 22, nice vid and lovely scenery 👍

Not sure if i can link here but the title is, Spark Arrestor Mod for a Camping Wood Burner Stove Chimney/Flue. Could maybe try that? He uses some really fine mesh and a metal ring and all looks good. Happy new year to you both….great video. I paddle a 16 prospector I use a voyager grey owl paddle but i know it gets a touch cold out on the water & when it does like you said it’s difficult to build body heat so what I do is switch to a double blade paddle & put in a bit of a shift for 10 minutes it works great..I know it’s not conventional with a canoe & the paddle isn’t all that efficient it can be a bit awkward although it does work & it does get you a bit of a heat 😁

    Lovely loch this one buddy, I really enjoyed my stay just recently there . I did want you paddle it but with me having my dog ended up leaving the canoe at home . Pleased you got to see the Eagles, I did see one on my stay, it flew directly at me from across the loch ..amazing sight ... possiblity a golden with the size of its wingspan . How did you get on with your new stove mate ? At the moment for me it's about the best option with it having a solid flue, I'm trying to avoid the role up type if I can but still keep things light weight . Nice video again mate ...really enjoy it 🤙🤙

    • @Adventure-Outdoors
      @Adventure-Outdoors  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks mate. The stove was great! Much better than the frontier stove, I didn't once get any smoke in the tent at all as it draws really well. The downside is that it has buckled a fair amount now but it assembles back together fine; some people reckon the fact that it buckles could increase the risk of gasses escaping but I had a carbon dioxide detector next to the stove and everything was fine. The flu can be an arse to take apart but a subscriber told me to apply some high temp. copper grease to the ends which I'm going to do soon.
      Some of the Polomy stoves look good, what put me off though was the prospect of having to pay extra VAT etc. as they come from the US. Hope that helps mate 👍
