Pippen has a lot of regrets. He signed that horrible 7-year deal and was grievously underpaid for his entire prime. He got his bag with his Portland contract, but that contract poisoned his career, making him hate basketball.
And now he doesn't want to recognize that he's the architect of his own misery, so Jordan is an excellent scapegoat. The frame...kind of fits...since Jordan was so broken as a person, but this is all regret and envy and resentment, mixed with lack of real smarts.
His agent advised him signing that contract to make it even worse

It seems more simple to me. He probably just wants people to acknowledge the fact that he was essential to the Bulls success, not just a worthy member of the "supporting cast." And in that respect he's right. His defensive impact was inestimable and the real key for the Bulls, along with Jordan's awesome abilities of course. Pippen was by far the better defender.

Wasn't compensation Scottie's fault? He wanted a longer contract due to concerns about his health and ability to provide to his family. Unfortunately, the salaries were still low back in early 1991. Of course the Bulls weren't going to renegotiate. Not good business. Besides, they may not have enough money to sign all the players they wanted if they gave Scottie more money during their run for the 2nd 3peat.

He wasn't taken advantage of with his NBA contract. He pushed for that deal when he was told by the owner it was a bad deal and he shouldn't sign it. He insisted and was told fine but don't come back later asking for a new deal. Of course it was a bad contract and then he cried about it and still does. Every problem Pippen has had has been his own fault through stupidity, jealousy, and envy. People need to stop making excuses for Pippen since he made his own bed against the advice of everyone.
