    Thanks for the video. I installed my b117 through Hull on my 97 sea cat sl1 a couple of weeks ago. I followed your steps exactly with no problems minus the extreme anxiety that comes with drilling a 2 inch hole in the bottom of your boat!

      I know it can be daunting but you just saved yourself a ton of money and gained a good amount of experience. Catch'em up!

      Rob, I got the same boat and planning to do the same, where did you install yours? Thanks

    Nice job. Clear and brief. Just what I needed to be confident with my installation.

    Move Tom Florida and be my neighbor! Please
    You are doing things to your boat that I’m nervous to do. You guys rock

    Nice video @FishonForte! Thank you. I’m about to install an SS75H and am petrified to drill a hole in my hull. Much more confident having watched you do it. Thanks again.

      I bought nickel-sized magnets from Home Depot. They stuck to each other through more than 3/4" glass. This is a great tool to precisely locate the pilot hole.

    I'm curious as to why you didn't remove the core around the hole after you drilled it? Whenever I install a through hull with a cored Hull I use a finish nail or wire Brad chucked in a cordless and bent at a 90 degree angle to remove 3/8 "of the core material. I fill this area with thickened epoxy (silica) and let it sit for a day before proceeding. Doing this ensures that no condensation will ever touch the core and it also strengthens the area that you drill out. You did a nice clean installation. A lot of people figure the more 4200 the better off they are. Adding gobs of the stuff just makes for a messy install and actually increases the likelihood of a leak. It's also important not to over tighten the interior nut or backing plate.

      John Wells Thanks for watching. never thought to drill out some of the core. If I do a chirp sonar later. I may do it your way. Thanks for the info.

      @@FishOnForte clearly shows that you should remove and then fill the core with epoxy in the instructions for these transducers

      @@davidlofberg9792 Thanks for watching. I can hardly believe it has been almost four years since I made that video. I have not had any issues with the transducer or water intrusion.

    Don’t you have to grind out some of the foam and fill with structural epoxy?

    • @FishOnForte
      @FishOnForte  Před 3 lety

      I think it all depends. I did what I saw the guys at the Marina do. It’s been years and I haven’t had any issues. If I upgrade I will epoxy the hole.

    It looks like this video is 4 years old. Can you tell me how this transducer performs? What I have trouble with is losing my fish finder when I am underway. I can maybe do 3 or 4 mph then I lose it. I have a transom mount transducer and am wondering how the through hull works.

    • @FishOnForte
      @FishOnForte  Před 2 lety

      The transducer has been great. If you look at some of my newer videos, since I put in the Simrad MFDs, you should be able to see how well it holds bottom at speed in some choppy seas. Thanks for watching.

    Great video. I thought 4200 was for above the waterline and 5200 for below.

    • @FishOnForte
      @FishOnForte  Před 6 lety +2

      dave radford Thanks for watching. You can use either one below the waterline. However, it will be hard to remove the transducer if it fails if you use 5200.

    @Fish on Forte how does this read at speed? Nice and clear?

    • @FishOnForte
      @FishOnForte  Před 3 lety +1

      It sure does. I usually run about 25 mph to the fishing grounds and it holds bottom where my transom transducer didn’t.

    How far forward of the transom did you mount it?

    • @FishOnForte

      Sorry for the late response but I think it is about 18 inches from the transom.

    What size hole saw did you use?

    • @FishOnForte
      @FishOnForte  Před 4 lety

      I can’t recall but it differs depending on the transducer. If you get a through hull transducer, the hole saw size will be included in the instructions.

    no lock nut on inside with this transducer ??

    • @FishOnForte

      Kevin Libby No sir. The transducer is tilted 20 degrees inside of its housing.
