- Learn how to install a through hull transducer in your boat for your fish finder. This video covers EVERYTHING from start to finish on how to install a new thru hull transducer properly and save thousands of dollars by doing it yourself. I show you how to remove the old transducer and fairing, how to drill a new hole in your hull, adding backing plates, sealing with 5200, and finally we go out and explore a ship wreck to test the transducer out. In this case we are using a Raymarine rv220 transducer and we need two so we can get side scan, 3D imaging, chirp, and RealVision but this process works for other brands like Airmar, Garmin, Furuno, Simrad, and more! This is @chrisfixstyle but for boats so you know you're learning all the best methods and wont sink your boat!

This guy's a madman! He's drilling holes in his boat!
hahaha
He better fix that. Otherwise he might see some wooder in the boat
Hi
Hey chris
Long time no see
Good to see this style of video coming from ChrisFix I think this channel brings the same great content and wouldn't mind seeing more even though I don't have a boat. For ChrisFix if I can suggest a video on a sagging headliner repair would be nice. My car is in the hot SoCal heat and the headliner is starting to separate from the trim piece, looks like a simple DIY for $50 vs a shop quote of $350 despite it being a 2 door coupe with only about a 5 1/2 ft x 4 ft headliner area.
Bring back ChrisFish!!! we miss this content :(
My grandpa and I have been renovating a boat, this will be helpful
Awesome! What boat?
Noah’s Ark……duh
Probably a yacht
Always wanted to get a boat n restore it but i no nothing about boats lol
@@vinski_ they don’t fly ?
I don’t own a boat but I find this very helpful
I don't like fishing much -- but I love Chris! He somehow someway makes me super entertained through anything!
I'm glad you were still entertained!
Agree, have subscribed to ChrisFix for years and only today found the existence of this channel. Despite knowing very little about boats I watched this to the end.
I dont even like the ocean but watched it all the way!
@@chrisfished I love fishing
Even though i have no plans to own a boat, the amount of information and detail chris puts in all of his videos keeps me coming back for more
I know exactly what you mean.
I clicked this unknowing that it is Chris' other cgannel and thought
"Haha, this guys totally reminds me of Crisfix"
Just goes to show how original your videos are, man !
Thanks!
I completely forgot he has a fishing channel. I just found this video because I’m buying a fishing boat and had questions about electronics. I am almost in tears I’m so happy. Thanks for your content Chris!
I hope to get my already filmed content out on installing the GPS and Radar and other electronics! I am just so far behind from my move!
@@chrisfished you take your time sir! Thanks for everything!!
6:35, some hole saws have a long enough thread so you can stack a 2" hole saw on top of the 2 3/8"hole saw. Then you use the 2" hole for alignment.
This is you
I really love how prepared youre Chris. Youre always 10 steps ahead when doing something to make it 10 times easier for everyone
Thanks a lot! That is the goal. It takes a ton of planning but I think of it this way, I do all the extra work planning and laying it all out so it's easy to follow, and then thousands of people are helped with a smooth, easy to follow video.
@@chrisfished that is true! Both ChrisFix and ChrisFish channels, you are doing an amazing job at tutoarials and entertainment in your videos combined!
Ya it’s crazy he always has everything he needs and never has to run to get a part or tool he’s always so prepared. Unlike me 😂😂
@@chrisfished yes
Before long we will have ChrisFly teaching us how to fix airplanes. Good work chris.
I’ll stick with cars and boats for a really long time lol
What an incredibly detailed video! Interesting even to those of us who don’t own a boat. I know the production of this video was probably very involved and difficult. Appreciated! 👍👍
Thanks a lot dude!
I don't even own a boat but i watched the whole thing, Information and installation technique was very well presented. I have adhd and the fact you kept my attention for 35 minutes is amazing in itself! The reverse direction trick on gelcoats is a awesome pro level tip to anyone working with anything gelcoat!
It works really well! And I'm glad you liked the presentation!
I never went fishing in my life but love your videos on both channels. Honestly I could watch you talk about planting pumpkins and still be hooked on it...
Haha thanks a lot!
A little tip: a scrap piece of 2x4 can be used to prevent damage to the thru-pipe when hammering on it.
Good idea!
i dont even have a boat nor a car or license, but your videos are just too entertaining
I can’t wait to hopefully start seeing more videos on this channel. I’ve just been rewatching these videos cause the way he goes about making his videos just checks all the right boxes.
There will be some new video very soon! Been hard at work behind the scenes getting some new content and trying some new things out!
@@chrisfished Can’t wait to see those! Keep up the good work!
I love both of your channels keep up your good work :)
Thanks a lot!!!
man should’ve been the engineer of the titanic
I love all of your videos! Your the reason I enrolled in an auto mechanics school Chris! Thank you for the amazing videos!
Thanks and that is awesome Devin! Love hearing stuff like this! It keeps me motivated!
Hey man. What are the thing they teach you there. Cause Im planning to enroll In Auto mechanics to become a car mechanic.
Tbh, im having a hard time to pick what course i pick so please answer, it would appreciate a lot.
Hey Chris, Just saw this video and being an avid fisherman, I can explain the difference of the side-scan sonar and side-view sonar.
What you were talking about is the side-view sonar which scans the sides and bottom but you cant direct the angle that it views, which gives you a general view of what's around you which is helpful but isnt as precise as a side-scan sonar.
A side-scan sonar is normally in the ballpark of $30k-50k and its a giant periscope bulb that drops below the boat and isn't seen on small boats due to the size of it. We have one on our 48' Cabo and it still takes up a lot of room in the engine room. The perks to this is that first off, you can change the direction of where it scans and the distance that it scans, anywhere from 50-2000 feet. You can also change the angle and the way that it scans (faster or slower, screen shows circle or square or some other odd shapes) and you can also turn on sound for when it scans, so whenever it picks up a fish or object in the water, it will make a much more distinct and loud sound than it does while normally scanning.
Both are great to have especially since you can change the beam on the side-view sonar but that comes at the cost of everything slowing down and not being able to scan as far. But you can install them on any boat, even a kyak, while the side-scan sonar is massive and takes up a lot of room while adding a lot of weight to the boat aswell, plus its extremely expensive as I've stated above.
Great video anyways
-Aidan
Thanks for sharing Aidan!
I’m betting most installers aren’t this meticulous. Your perfection to your craft makes this look like an art. I’m betting your in hot demand and your booked well in advance. For you my friend , I award the Honorable Man Card. Cheers great video
Exactly why sometimes it's worth doing it yourself!
Well done Chris! What an excellent install. I dont think you missed a thing!! Cheers
Thanks a lot!
Sorry these videos aren’t getting as many views as they deserve, such detailed edits that I know so much time is put into and I wish they got as much recognition as the ChrisFix videos. Soon I’m sure they will!
They are getting more and more each time!
15:50
Man, this guy knows about cars too.
I wish he had a channel about cars.
lol
The best DIY video on CZcams PERIOD. I don’t even own a boat but watch it all the way and I feel confident that I could perform the installation.
Thanks a lot!
This is cool Chris I have something similar. I recently got a fishing boat from my father. I live in Grand Haven just of Lake Michigan i'm 23 now and I remember summers of just peaceful hours and hours on Lake Michigan fishing and listening to Jimmy Buffet. Luckily my father is still alive. The first time I owned the boat was surreal just spending hours on the boat and taking my father just as he had done so many times before
That is awesome man! Those memories are great!
I love the channel chris keep up the work!!!!!!!!
Thanks a lot
I'd love to see more fishing tutorial videos next time you go out! Thanks for all the great content Chris.
I don't know how I've only just now found this channel, I just can't get enough of Chris's amazing content!
I don't even have a boat or care about fishing. Just here to watch these videos for the knowledge and enthusiasm you throw down! Keep up the great work.
Thanks a lot man! It is kinda cool that now you know stuff most people even with boats dont know. Not many people know how to do this!
u are doing great on ur both channels love them both. My dad is a fisherman so i am made just like u chris
sea guy and car guy. Thanks to u i get to learn more about my passions. Thank u

Awesome video with great detailed explanation of every step in the process. A true seminar in 'how it's done'!

Love how he has different intros for different channels
nice vid chris keep up the good work!
Thanks a lot
Do I have a boat? No. Will I ever have a boat? Unlikely. Will I watch this video until the end? You bet
this man makes anything sound easy and interesting but then when you go try to do it you need to watch his vids like a step by step process lmfao ive been watching him for a FAT MIN and hes always been amazing while getting the right camera angles for every bolt and teaching people as well its super impressive how far youve come bro i even bought some of that spray nine you mentioned in a video a while back and it worked like a charm for my fenders and hood thank you for taking time to teach us even though i know ill probably never actually own a boat i still watch both channels
Thanks a lot! That's the goal every single time!
I just watched a 35 min video and I don't even own a boat lol very entertaining thanks Chris
Haha well now you know how to install a through hull transducer. Something people pay big bucks for! This plus the radar was a $10k job total from the installers.
Hey guys ChrisFix here , today we are gonna swap a bmw e46 engine into this boat!
It's aluminum so I wouldn't have to worry about corrosion :o
Time to go to the Black Sea to find the Moscow!
I’m starting to like this Chris fish guy he reminds me of Chris fix :)
CZcams has taken you so far in life... I recall when you bought your neighbours car for dirt cheap and fixed it up, I think you sold it back to him after... keep up that grind my guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks man! It definitely has been a journey!
I just discovered this, holy crap more Chris. I’m all about it my dude. I love boats and cars and I’m hype for the possibilities of this channel!
I'm glad you're liking the videos!
How it’s made vibe. Love it !
Thanks

I cant believe ChrisFix aka ChrisFish is a fan of fishing, this made my day!
I've known you for a few years now and congrats
I've been gradually losing my hearing and I watch most YT videos at 1.25x or 1.5x speed, and every time you said "hole" "hull" or "whole" I'm glad it wasn't a drinking game! Great vid, very good instruction and filming.
Haha thanks a lot!
I've been watching your Fix videos for years and just came on this channel by random lol
Yayy!! New episode of ChrisFish ,i hope chris and everyone doing well today
Thanks for the support
I do not go fishing, I don't have a boat either, I will probably will never install Fish Finder in my life. But man oh man, do I learned a lot from this video? Heck yeah I did! And it was very satisfying to watch. Thanks Chris!

This channel may be the reason I get a boat someday.
Do it!!
Hello as a viewer from the chrisfix channle😊
Hello!
Make more videos plz i love your content I've been a subscriber to your chanels for 5 years
I live off the Chesapeake bay and I don't even have a boat. Shoot I've never been fishing before yet I end up watching this whole video. You really should think about making a home improvement channel like your apple fools video and I'd probably watch that all too.
I will be posting the home improvement stuff here!! You should try going fishing. I dont know where on the Chesapeake you live but there is a lot of good catfishing up north!
well this is a first. I had no idea Chris had a fishing channel
Every time Chris says “transducer” you have to drink!!! My little boy thought it was so funny. We have watched this video 5 times. Good times
I'm glad you guys enjoyed the video!
I do not have a boat, I haven't gone fishing in years but I really enjoyed every second of this video. Greetings from 🇨🇱 Chris
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for the support from Chile!
Look at these fancy graphics!
After watching your videos, I feel really confident about fixing and repairing mechanical components
I really enjoyed Christmas fish video especially the tournament one, at the end of the day its something that you like to do
That was possibly the best DIY video I've ever seen on CZcams. Legit. Your attention to detail is mind blowing. Great job bro.
Thanks!
Need to buy a boat now after watching the vids
reverse gelcoat drilling is a new tip I learned from your video, 35 minutes well spent, thanks! This will come in handy when I will be installing transom and hull lights)
Glad you learned something new!
Man chris your videos never cease to amaze me even if I know what you’re doing good job bro
Your dedication to teach is incredible
Thanks!
i have never fished nor will i ever probably but this video is very interesting so i watched the whole thing
I'm glad you found the video interesting!
Each of your channels should hype what the other channel is releasing.
if chrisfish here accidentally says chrisfix in his intro, we would all have a laugh. 😂
I don't even have a boat and this video had me mesmerized for all its length!
Thanks a lot!
Friend. I am amused or whatever you say.... This is a very very very amusing video. Thanks a lot. Very helpfull
Thanks Juan!
32:36 Yes please!
Thank you Chris for your quality content!
Thanks for the reverse drilling tip !
Glad the tip was helpful!
Exceptionally done video. Very informative. Professionally done. Thank you.
I'm not into fishing and I don't have a boat. BUT I'M WATCHING THIS VIDEO!! Chris is so good at entertaining!
I'm glad you still found the video entertaining!
@@chrisfished the content doesn't really matter. what matters is you sir! thanks a lot for good entertainment.
The moment I heard "oh hoy there ChrisFish here!" I immediately started laughing internally, thinking it sounded like a parody of ChrisFix.
This is a great video; very well explained step by step. Not many people do this quality videos. Cheers Mate!
So beautiful! 🥹 Great job as always. I’m excited for your summer out on the wooder.
Me too!! Still waiting for the weather to get a little warmer...
Your tutorials are Mater Class level. Thank you!!
Thank you!
Bruh this dude did NOT just start a fishing channel. this is about to be the most hyped fishing channel on youtube
Haha I did! Love fishing and boating!
At 17:55 in the video that is a very very very nice setup you got there ChrisFish. Thank you for teaching me something on every video and even on you car channel
Thanks a lot!
@@chrisfished your welcome
I don't even fish but find this satisfying
I'm glad you find this satisfying!
Hi chris love your car and boat videos a very helpful tip when working with 4200 and 5200 is soaking a rag with WD-40 it cleans excess 5200 very well and you can form the bead the way you want it. Thank you for sharing all these videos with us.
Thanks for the tip and thanks a lot!
Enjoyed the video. I was talking to a Gamin rep once upon a time and he told me that the boomerang image you see is actually the air-bladder of the fish reflecting the sonar signals. You can sometimes identify species by how that boomerang looks. Not sure if that is accurate but it makes sense.
That is true. Since the air is less dense than water it bounces back very strong.
I don't own a boat, dont plan on getting a boat soon, but this is sure entertaining! Keep up your work!
This was a great video, am a nubbie to big boats and have a ton of DYI stuff to do.
Understanding what products to use below the water line is critical.
Thanks a lot! That is the goal with this channel. Try to teach as much as I can about the proper way to work on boats!
Gotta love technology always improving...great tips.
Right? It is amazing what sonar can do these days! Have you seen the Panoptics stuff? It's like an ultrasound under water!
That engine looks really cool
Yea it's going to look even better this season. I removed it and will be fixing it up!
Please please please please please please please please please please keep making these videos! You're in Florida now right? You have to! lol
I don't even own, or want to own a boat, but man I love your videos ! :D
This guy should really start a mechanic diy channel
Haha 😂
Great video, I have a 30' Sea Ray 300 Sundancer with a leaking transducer, now I know how to fix it.
Thanks Buddy.
Glad the video was helpful! To get the old one out without damaging it, use piano wire or fishing wire. That saws right through the 5200.
Chris, I’ve been a subscriber to your car channel for years. I live on my boat so l’m really happy to find your boat channel. Looking forward to seeing more boat fixing.
chris i love the way you say water lol
Been a long time Chrifix fan, why am i only learning about this channel now? 😅
