- Just a sit down chat about my journey from a general science degree to applying to nursing programs in Ontario. The accelerated programs are a good choice for students who already have a bachelor degree and want to make the switch!
I did accelerated nursing & worked full time so it’s def achievable and I felt like it made time fly!
That’s so cool...please what school did you attend for the ABSN?
@@oriakhiflora5107 I went to IUPUI in Indianapolis, Indiana for my accelerated BSN program!
FaithFilledNursing okay! Thank you
I've been looking for info on UofT nursing forever, please keep this up it was so helpful! I'm applying next year and can't find many Canadian youtubers in nursing school!
same! good luck to everyone applying!
could you do a video on your whole experience applying to accelerated nursing like, what program you were in for you bachelors, how you took all the prerequisite courses etc
Please post more videos about your nursing journey! I have been searching for uoft nursing forever and you are the first one I came across!
Congrats on Nipissing!! I will for sure try and stay on top of the journey thanks for the positive feedback! Fingers crossed for Uoft! :)
Hey! I would love to see/hear more about your supplemental application for UofT nursing? Also thank you for this video, so helpful. I’m applying for sept 2021. ☺️
Hi!i got accepted for Nipissing congratulations on acceptance to UofT! I am waitlisted to UofT and hopefully I could get in
Hi! Can you do videos about preparing/writing CASPER and also your supplementary application? Thank you!
This was very helpful. Thank you for this vital elaborate information. Looking forward to more nursing videos from you
Hi! I've been looking for vlogs about Nursing in Toronto and I stumbled on this vlog. I'm applying soon for my masters in UofT and I hope you could have more vlogs about nursing. Thank you for this! You look amazing btw
Pleaseeee post your supplementary application or at the least and in depth video on tips! I am trying to apply to this exact program in third year as well, thank you so much! just subbed :)
This video helped me! Thank you!
Hey I’m looking forward to apply to Canadian universities or colleges for bsc nursing after my high school next year. I would be an international student there so I was hoping if u could tell us more about this accelerated program? Like ur experience and everything else. Would be really helpful😄
Hi! I am currently in the application process for Nursing at Bloomberg UofT (app literally due in two weeks lol). Would you mind if I could reach out to you for advice on the supplementary application?? Really appreciated this video!
Could you make a video about the Casper test?
Hey! I just had a quick question about the Scholar Practitioner Program at Nippissing. Do you need to have a prior degree? I’m looking to apply but I’m only in my second year! 🥺 Congrats by the way!! Praying for your success!
Yes unfortunately if I recall correctly you must have a complete undergrad degree however I encourage you to check the website requirements for clarification!!
what degree did you do for the four years before the accelerated nursing program
I like this video, please make more. What undergrad did you take prior the accelerated nursing program at uoft
Thanks for your feedback!! I did a double major in human biology and health studies at Uoft, however now that im in the program I've seen many students that came from non-science backgrounds and they've said it hasn't disadvantaged them!😊
@@thatnursingstudent oh okay great, my whole entire family is full of nurses and I'm the only in finance. I really want to blend in so I'm debating between pharmacy and nursing with no chem, bio or science background what undergrad would you take of you're in my shoes? From uoft specifically, Pleas advise or recommend. Thank you.
@@yawantwi8050 so you need to have certain prerequisites to get into nursing school, to make your life easier i would find an undergrad that would cover those prerequisites which would be science majors, taking a major in biology would probably be your best bet so that you can obtain those prerequisites without having to take them as electives or on top of another arts or buisness program. Also you only need to take first year chem with a biology major and you don't need physics either
@@thatnursingstudent OMG, thank you soo much and you're the B.E.S.T. youtuber ever....my whole community is gonna follow you now......Cheers to nursing
@@yawantwi8050 no problem, glad I could help☺
What are the chances for an international student looking to take the accelerated nursing program? And what if we don't have the prerequisites don't the school's offer those
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! Do you mind sharing your personal statement (it's totally fine if not :))
Hi Usagi, shoot me an email and I can send my Nipissing statement!
@@thatnursingstudent Thank you! Sent :)
Hi please how did you take your pre requisites and when did you take them? Is that before you applied or after?
u tell em
hey! thanks for making this video as it was very helpful! would you actually be willing to share your personal statement? I'm planning to apply this year for the sept 2021 intake and any advice/insight is greatly appreciated!:)
Heyy, shoot me an email and I'll send it your way!!
@@thatnursingstudent Hi doing some research and I cam across your video. I am interested in transitioning to Nursing as well; in the process of completing my prerequisites. Could you share this with me as well?
Did you ever receive this? She is no longer answering emails or dms at this time based on her schedule.
Hello, please which colleges in canada offer just the prerequisites?
Hi I am a registered nurse in Ghana and want to work in US or Canada. Should I do an accelerated BSN before writing NCLEX RN? Or do you have any idea
Hey! I found this video really helpful. I am applying to all the schools you applied to for September 2021 admission and UofT is my first choice. Can I contact you somehow to ask you some questions?
Shoot me a dm on Instagram @akeela.m or email akeelamulla@gmail.com :)
That was helpful
Hey! I am actually a UTSC student who wants to apply to 2 year nursing program after I graduate. Can I pm you? Thanks.
Hi! I'm also interested in applying to uoft nursing. I was wondering what healthcare experience you had at the time of your application, if you don't mind sharing :)
Hey Samantha, at the time of my application I had experience in volunteering in the dental clinic at princess Margaret hospital (1 year) and I also have been volunteering in the emergency department at lakeridge health since grade 9!
i’m a 15 year old student and i DREAM of becoming a nurse. i’ve read that U of T has one of the best programs in the country, but my parents don’t want me to go to school in the city. How has the school been? Are the things people say about U of T true?
Hi Kaelan! This is a very broad question, I encourage you to go through my videos to see if I've answered your questions on how uoft is. The program for sure is extensive and heavy and can be quite challenging but I would definitely say it's worth it based on how well they teach and the connections the school has! However, keep in mind that if you want to do nursing straight out of high school uoft does not cater to you (they only have an accelerated program so you would have to do another degree first). Hope that helps!
hello!! I am not sure if you will see this but Im struggling between uoft and queens! (ive been accepted to both) I dont know which one to pick and was wondering why you chose uoft over queens (aside from distance, is there something more about the uoft program that queens doesnt have)
Hey!! So basically I knew that UofT was the top nursing program in Canada so it had to count for something, also I wanted to have exposure to the downtown hospitals as well. It’s really a personal choice but I’m very happy with my choice because I love the placements so much. However, regardless of what program you choose you’ll end up with the same degree and job so it’s more about individual factors like travel and whether or not it matters to you where you will gain your experience
@@thatnursingstudent thank you so much!! I really appreciate it. I feel the same way! I just want the most exposure and variety in terms of clinical placements. Thanks again!
@@thatnursingstudent also, sorry another question! does the class size at uoft feel too big ever? I know the program is around 160-170 people which a bit larger than other schools like queens, western, etc. (since they have the 4 year BScN it makes sense). I came from a huge cohort in my first undergrad degree, and I definitely dont wanna feel lost in the crowd again. just wanna make sure at uoft you can have close connections and profs are tending to all of you (if that makes sense haha) thanks so much in advance!
@@deniztokgoz8622 since we haven’t all been together physically due to Covid I’m not sure how it feels in person. However, from my experience so far I don’t feel lost in the crowd at all. My profs know who I am etc, I also came from a big cohort so ik how it can feel but for some reason I feel like our group is really close knit
Can international students apply for this ?
Hi! As far as affordability, which school would you say is the most affordable from the those mentioned?
That's a really good question unfortunately I haven't looked into how much tuition is across schools but I know you can find out if you do some digging online, currently for uoft im paying about 10k per year!
@@thatnursingstudent Awesome , thanks for your reply!
Hi! Was GPA calculated for the final year or was it cumulative GPA? On Bloomberg it states that its for the final year but i'm not too sure
Hey, uoft looks at the last 5.0 credits and calculates your gpa based on those courses!
AkeelaImmy Hii:) Was wondering what u mean by last 5.0 credits?
@@LEILA-fw2ie hey Leila, each course at uoft is usually 0.5 credits so the last 5 credits would be your last 10 courses which is usually your last year of undergrad!
@@thatnursingstudent hi, if I apply in my last year of undergrad which is usually December-feb (app cycle) how do they make a decision if I’m still taking some of the prerequisites and won’t complete them until April? I heard they start to send out acceptances around April. Thanks for the video
LOL I wanna hear why you didn't chose Trent
I declined in third year because I was really close to being done my degree, I had to move off campus and it was a longer program than other accelerated programs so it didn't make sense for me at the time. In fourth year it wasn't my top choice because it was further from me and also uoft is the top rated nursing school in Canada so I decided to go based on ranking!!
new sub hereeee
Hi, I would like to get some insight on your supplementary application please
Sure, email me your questions at akeelamulla@gmail.com and I'll see what I can help with!
Hey, I sent an email to you re your application package. New subbie who is interested in transitioning to Nursing.
was there any reason why you didnt apply to mcmaster?
When I was looking at macmaster I didn't have the prerequisite they required at the time which I think was microbiology but they have recently changed their requirements now and I dont think you need microbiology anymore
AkeelaImmy what was your gpa applying to all the nursing schools? I know this is a personal question but there isn’t a lot of information out there about this stuff.
@@janicamae6468 I dont mind sharing at all im planning on making a Q&A video to share commonly asked questions!! So for my first 2 years I did pretty bad in my undergrad i was going through a lot and didn't focus on school but my last 2 years I really brought up my GPA. My cgpa was only a 3.44 but my GPA in the last 2 years was around a 3.7 and the last year was 3.9! Alot of nursing schools calculate your GPA based on the last year or 2!
for UofT specifically do they only admit students that have graduated with a bachelors already? Im kind of nervous that ill waste my time on the application because I have my associates (middle of my bachelors) and i have all prereqs, but I see a lot of people say you need to have a BS before admitted.
I did apply with 3 years done and I got into Trent, so it is doable but priority goes to students that are done their undergrad, if you really want to try there's a chance especially if you have a high GPA and good experience!
@@thatnursingstudent thank you so much!! :) you have no idea how much you give me hope haha. Everyone keeps telling me that its really tough!! Perseverance is key! 😃
@@thatnursingstudent would you say “good experience” is something related to research and healthcare? I’m lacking on this a bit
@@jaday7318 good experience is generic, in terms of nursing schools i would say definitely try and get some volunteer experience in some Healthcare settings but personally I did not have any research or paid experience.
@@thatnursingstudent thanks again! I look forward to your next vids! :)
Hi! Your video was very helpful! Do you mind sharing your personal statement, please? I am not sure where I can find your email
You have hella nice teeth lol
Hey I would love to email you some questions I have about this program !! Could you provide me your email
