Birds are the same species as fish cos they both lay eggs, that's how you tell 👍 The science is settled 🙃

I do know that catching a hummingbird in the melon at 85mph will get your attention. Like hitting a really big moth without the jelly donut across the face shield.

The first time I tried riding with my chinbar up I was instantly bombarded by weaponised hay and insects. I can't imagine what a bird strike to the chops would be like.

Quite right. If a driver makes a stupid and dangerous mistakes it should be brought to their attention in some way, because like you correctly point out, oblivious they are likely to do it to someone else, and they might not be so lucky. I usually sound the horn or wag my finger at them! Why do birds suddenly appear. Every time. You are near?

@@SloboloboVFR cars approaching thinking they can squeeze me off the road get a shaking head, or policeman's stop type hand gesture, and those who drive too close behind get a go away gesture. If they stop behind too close at the lights, I look behind in disbelief at the gap. The next lights they leave space, so gesturing does work! Makes a change that they're actually paying attention.

Making things a non-event is fine if, say, someone pulls out and the gap isn't really big enough and you can slow down without too much drama; everyone makes mistakes.
That van driver was butt hurt that you got in front of him and he made it dangerous to prove a point. People need pulling up sometimes because they will kill somebody some day driving like that.

My thoughts exactly. Someone making a mistake is fine, im not even mad at people going slower than the speed limit (annoyed yes). I dislike the thought of people assuming they can do something and other road users will have to let them or get out of the way. Then that attitude being reinforced every time someone fixes the mistake and says nothing.

@@SloboloboVFR ~ I had a Hawk hit the backside of my car while traveling 80MPH(50km?)...... I saw the rodent
run across & heard that large hawk slam into the rear, denting it pretty well. It would be a bad day on a bike but

A motorist is driving below the speed limit. A truck behind him honks its horn and flashes its headlights... The disgruntled motorist stops in the middle of the road and goes to speak to the truck driver. As he gets out of the truck, he is hit by a car.
You get stabbed for not letting someone pass in a roundabout.
Conclusion I never say anything, all I do is shake my head and silently curse.
I don't know if it's a question of survival instinct, or if Mother Nature has opted for a new technique of natural selection.

I'd never advise anyone to get out of the car and start shouting. A beep or a gesture then go about your day. I like just letting the other road user know they were dumb and moving on.
I have seen people take it too far and I can't muster that amount of anger at a stranger. Unless they hit the bike maybe. A red light jumper wiped out the front of my car a few years ago, I don't even think I raised my voice.
