JVC RC-S11JW Cute Boombox belts replacement

- This is a cute boombox from JVC. A simple mono radio and cassette player with silver color body. All I needed to do was cleaning the volume and tone sliders and replacing the worn out belts to new ones. Demagnetizing the head and adjustment of the motor speed made this mini boombox alive again. Enjoy!

Wow,that cassette portion sure was a bear to take out of the chassis. As usual you triumphed over it. Great work in saving another vintage radio there Ted.😃👍👍
Hi, Ralph. Thank you for your compliment!
Thank you for the video. It had helpful information that helped me fix my JVC. It was a little tough following in fast forward, but I managed. Peace!
Well, it looks like I now know who built those radios for Radio Shack. I have a similar looking radio, Realistic Minisette 12
Thank you for the comment and information!
Great Work Again Teddy.

Thank you for your compliment! Hope your diy repair goes well!
Hey teddy Another great project accomplished it seems like these small boomboxes have lots of clutter inside to work through I can't really tell but it seems like for a small boombox it has good Sound. Another great video I will be in touch soon for the restoration of the Biphonic
Thank you for your compliment! The inside of the small boombox is always amazes me. During the cleaning of this one, I thought if the JVC made this one STEREO but not mono with 4 speakers, it maybe the great and cutest boombox ever!
@@teddyhashee a bigger brother for this one is JVC rc-s5 (stereo), and the smaller one is rc-s2. Also similar rc-s1

I was feeling your pain while attempting to pull the tuning knob :-)
Great job as usual!
Removing the tuning knob was very frustrating work as you said. Once it was removed, then the rest was OK.

Hiya, I have a few questions regarding cassette boombox/tapes and whether is worth to invest
1) I have a JVC PC-37 boombox that a friend of my dad gifted to me, the first time I put a cassette in and play it, it sounded a bit slowed down, do I need to repair the belts or other parts in order for it to play properly?
2) Regarding cassette tapes, should I wind up the wheels just a little bit for it to not become tight and possibly ruin the tape entirely? It has happen to my first purchased ever tape and it was heartbreaking to see a good 8" of tape creased and wrapped :(
3) Should I trust the "auto reverse" feature on the boombox or not?
Hopefully the questions are easy to answer, have a wonderful day good sir ^^
@Teddy Hashee I have a question I trying to fix a sayo boom box and the fast forward works and the rewind works but play doesn’t work I opened it up and it seems the thing that pushes it to spin doesn’t move over
Is the capstan sniping? Also the capstan is touching the pinch roller? What is your boombox model number?
@Teddy Hashee it spins when I push play I don’t think the capstan is touch the pinch roller
@Teddy Hashee I’m at school right at the moment but when I get home I’ll tell you the boom box model number Thank you so much for the help!
what an application to set the engine speed ???
Tuner T1, you can download it for android or ios.
Great work. I have a small question. The capstan motor out of my tape boombox has failed, it was 9 volt 2400 rpm. Will a 12 volt 2400 rpm replacement motor work or?
It won't work unless you step up the voltage to the motor to justify the speed. But it won't be stable. I recommend you to find same type of the motor for the replacement.
@@teddyhashee Thanks a lot!
Great job! Where do you find bulk parts, like belts, etc. I have a few home decks that I’ll be diving into to this summer.
I buy belt from ebay, amazon, and other online seller. Mostly I buy the pack of the belt, but if necessary I but specific size belt for the each model, it is expensive though.
Hello from France absolutely wonderful your work .
but what is this application you use to adjust the speed .
i have seen that you have used your smartphone as i am completely fan of repairing i am curious of this thing
At the moment i am in negocition with Sanyo MS 350 LE .
The app is called T1 tuner in ios and android. You need to have a A-400 hz tape to check the speed with this app.
@@teddyhashee thank you man an respect
Классный JVC !!!! Я купил бы себе , друг продай !!!

@@teddyhashee are you from Japan?
Unfortunately you didn't tell anything while making this video, although i need this because i'm blind. But i can hear the sounds of the radio when you test it, thank you!
Thank you Tatjana for the comment. Was the sound of this mini boombox good? I hope you will get more great sound from my future video.
@@teddyhashee Yes, it was good. I can't see the radio on the screen because of my blindness, but you wrote in your description that it is a small radio, so it sounded very good.
I am glad you enjoyed the music!
My friend im talking about my sanyo80's he doesn't record and i cant understand why i cannot detect wich pieces are damaged
There are many reason your boombox not recording. Only way to find out the main reason is taking apart and test all possibility one by one. Hope you will find the solution!
@@teddyhashee sorry but sanyo is not a good company of japan
can you tell me, about the recording work, a transistor can be a part of record pieces team?
The boombox is already in a hand of my client, so I can not test it again. But it does record.
I have one them some color Panasonic vrey good
