If you can't automate red and green in 40 mins you should delete the game bruh, i'm literally on my first play through and i've been playing for 6 hours, you are tripping badly.
I always imagine when you escape, you just crash again but like, thousands of miles away from before. So eventually the engineer just gets really good at setting up, but cant ever get the hang of rocket science.

Automated red 10mins ago and now automating green!!! Me: 70 hours into first game oh that’s how you make purple potions. What does the different types of oil do. You: WR run finish under 2 hours. Amazing job sir I have a much better idea what to do in the game now but I’ll never be this good. I’m going to start a new game now.
The youtubers Nilhaus and Katherine of Sky make quality introductory content. I believe Katherine of Sky also has a bunch of helpful content on Steam as well. Good luck out there!

Covers many basic topics, and he does have older still relevant tutorials for trains and much else. You basically just have to search for "Factorio insert-topic-here" on youtube and most likely a Nilaus or someone else's guide shows up.

Just completed my "first official" run in 36 hours, never came any further then either yellow or purple science before. This is crazy, i'm going for a fast run with the right ratio's this time.
Factorio, a game where you (should) make factories that produce all types of things so you can eventually automate the design of a rocket to escape the planet. Or, as this guy and a lot of speedrunners play it; put down everything needed for a small factory, hand craft everything, hand deliver everything and fuck making a factory.
HOLY CRAP that seed though. All those resources just RIGHT THERE. That's the biggest iron patch I've ever seen. And there's even an oil patch a few steps away. This has got to be the richest world seed EVER.
This is funny because when you see how much power hes generating and compare to your own (slower) factories, it shows you how much time is a factor when you have to produce everything at once to get a speed record; you have to have a factory with utterly huge throughput. Say you normally launch at 40 hours, well you're going to need probably 20x less of everything hes producing here.
this man has been playing this map for a long ass time.. he know exactly what goes where and whan to put it up.. what to craft at wich point etc. ..point there is, he does not need to think about the usual stuff when you get started on a brand new map. he thinks about all the little stuff only. this is also how he can check chat from time to time and answer it.
