- Tennessee teen, Daphne Westbrook has been found safe after a traffic stop in Alabama. Her father was not with her and she was not cooperative with investigators and refused to speak with her mother who has been searching for her for years.
Sounds like she didn’t want to be found. She was with her dog enjoying her life. Mom may be the issue.
Exactly! Yet they are going to try and charge the dad?! If he let her go like that she for sure was not being held against her will. The dad probably had no choice but to run with her because the judicial system sucks and always sides with the mother.
Yea she was already 17?* when she went missing so it’s not like she has Stockholm syndrome or anything. She would’ve been old enough to have rational thought if her dad actually kidnapped her and held her intoxicated for years (which just doesn’t make sense to me). People still just always believe the woman/mother in every situation.

It's honesly not unheard of for parents to say horrible things about the other parent even if it's not true. My boyfriends sister was abused and murdered by her ex husband. he was terrible to her and the two daughters who were only 11 and 15 at the time she was brutally murdered and he tried to brainwash them into believing things he would say about her during their visits to him. It wasn't til he murdered her that they eventually learned that the things he told them were not true. Its Very sad, it really messed them up. they often cry about it because they didn't know what to believe at the time . My boyfriend adopted his two nieces and we talk often about their beautiful mother who loved them dearly!! 😪🥺
@@pacotaco5526 yeah, supposedly the ex-wife of one of my uncles told their daughter lies about him, showed up at the place to have their daughter switch which parent she was staying with at the wrong times to say "I guess he doesn't actually care about you" and keep her to herself, and most likely kept their daughter from reading any of the letters and cards he'd send to her for years (he might still be sending them now, except that she's a grown woman and he likely doesn't know her address).
So yeah, I have an estranged aunt who I've never met, somewhere out there, who probably thinks her father was a horrible person and hates her, and hates him in return. I think that at the time she was more than 6 years younger than the woman in this story is now, but I don't really know. I never met her, and I've only asked what her name is once.
I also know that at least one of my parents has lied (or misremembered things) about the other one. I don't know who, but there have been a *few* directly contradicting things said about each of them.
I am also *so incredibly sorry* to hear about your boyfriend's sister. That is horrible. At least her daughters seem to have a good uncle/adoptive father.
Kidnappers don't usually give their victims keys and cash. I suspect dad was the good guy and took a risk to get his baby girl out of a bad spot.

So this guy kidnapped his daughter but the daughter come to him asking for money and a car and he gave it to her so his daughter can go to Florida to visit to hang out on the beach with her high school friend. You sound very naive. Just because somebody says something it does not make it true. Did the dad take her, most likely. Why would I say that, cause she had no money when she went missing. That leaves just a couple ways to get money to live on, and the top way is a parent. Parental kidnapping is a crime, and it stems from not obeying a custody agreement, and it happens all the time. Parents with primary custody have literally been charged with simply moving out of state, because in some states it is illegal for parents with primary custody to move out of state unless they get permission from a judge. So it is fairly simple to break the rules and find yourself charged with parental kidnapping. In this case it simply looks like he purposely took her and kept her hidden. I suppose she probably liked her dad more and is protecting him. The dad has never contcted anyone since she went missing, and she told the cops she had been in contact with him, so if she was able to contact him then common sense should tell anyone she knew where he was because she was with him. You cannot be possibly believe a guy that is missing, has not had contact with anyone, also has a daughter that is missing, and somehow she is the only person that has been in contact with the missing dad, and not also believe he did not take her from her mom. That is clearly what happened. He broke the custody agreement, and that is a crime, period. Moms and dads both do this all the time, they use their kids to hurt the other parent, and that is exactly what the dad did. Men and women both use kids as weapons, and it seems like both her parents were using her to try to hurt the other, so the dad simply took her. Now does that mean the dad is a classic criminal, no, but is he an irresponsible parent that broke the law by not abiding by a custody agreement, yes.

So her dad gave her a car and money so she can go to beach with her friend. She refused to speak to her mom. It doesn’t sound like Stockholm. With Stockholm syndrome, the victim would do anything to protect the perpetrator, because they "love" them and want to protect them. Daphne carefully worded her response to the officers to not give any information away that would lead them to the whereabouts of John. Classic Stockholm syndrome response.
Again, I'm not at liberty to divulge more details as this is an open investigation. I can assure you though, the charges John is facing, are just.
Think about it. If you're extremely ticked off at your ex, especially if you lost in court, trying to get custody, what's the one thing you can do, to get revenge?? Kidnap the child involved in the dispute, and brainwash them to believe that you are doing what's best.

The mom. I thought they were lying when I heard that. Lol what father actually wants his daughter and thinks he has to drug her to keep her there? But then the mom did that dramatic interview crying and saying “it’s ok I’m not mad at you just come home “ I started believing her. Now I’m with you sounds fishy and then mom needs to be interviewed again.
And it could easily be a case of a rebellious teenager not wanting to follow rules and/or be disciplined at home, whining to dad about how unfair everything is and so he helps her disappear long enough to become of age, just to get back at the ex. This is a very common and more plausible scenario.

It could be one of many reasons or multiple reasons. Children and teens are easy to manipulate and brainwash, so maybe the father brainwashed her. Maybe the mother was abusive. Maybe the daughter feels that she is at fault and feels to guilty to talk to her. Maybe something really bad happened and the daughter feels ashamed.

The best thing we can do is move forward with our lives, do better than they did, & maintain healthy boundaries if we must have contact (like it they're nice to the grandkids & they (the grandkids) want to see them). The daughter obviously wanted to be with the dad if she was found happy and smiling alone with her dog. When she was old enough to be on her own, she asked her dad for a car so she can leave since she’s technically an adult and he obviously had no issue with her. He probably waited until she was 18 so she can make her own decisions and not be stuck with her mom. She was found safe and happy, they should just let this all go.

Men and women are both wrong when they do these types of things to get back at the man or woman they divorced. He knew better, he knew he was breaking the law, which is why he is hiding, so yes he should be charged. You do not just ignore it because the child is okay. It's rare to see the father get full custody of their child. As for him being a danger, she seems perfectly fine. If he was trash person the news would've reported it. You cant bring somebody back to life after you kill them, dont matter if you did figure out they were innocent.

That's most states. Judges will often look at age, custody agreement, all of it and make a decision at sixteen if their was no previous custody agreement and some tries to get visitation that late their pretty much wasting their time. The judge is going to let the teenager live with whatever parent they want

People need to be reminded that the court always favors the mom over the dad. Even if the mom is an abusive psycho.
*UPDATE* (sort of).
Daphne made a facebook post last week saying "I was not kidnapped, I just ran away!" she then also posted a video of herself saying the same thing to her facebook account and her mother confirmed it was her (as some people were denying the authenticity of the post). Daphne still will not talk to her mother.
One of the reasons the police are going after the father on kidnapping charges is (from what I understand) he did not have legal guardianship. If a child is under 18 then they cannot choose to be with a specific parent if the courts have decreed otherwise. She never came home after her last visit with her father 2 years ago, so he must have kept her pretty well hidden for police not to find her. However it does seem she really didn't want to be found.
We can't jump to conclusions until we have more info though! There have definitely been cases where a victim forms a bond with their abuser and will defend them consistently. However the fact that she was happily driving to the beach with her pup seems to indicate that she was perfectly happy with her situation.

You can see how the system hates fathers and protective parents. If this girl was 'kidnapped', and held for years, why was she given a car and money? She couldn't call her mom, but was leading a normal life? And this cop (and the reporter) are casting shade (without GOOD evidence) at the father. I don't believe the cop. My hunch is he's a fool. But ya never know, I could be wrong. Maybe if more information was given.
18 years old?? That makes her an adult now. I’m glad she’s safe but this to me looks like a civil family matter wasting police resources. Most courts say if a 16 year old wants to live with a particular parent they are allowed

Sounds like she didn't want to live with her mom and they tried to force her to and Dad did what he had to do for the good of his baby girl. 🤷🏿♂️
My first child was kept from me for 6 years, i couldn't see her, talk or even know if she was alive or not, i attempted multiple times to go see her, i was always threatened to go to jail, 3 years ago her mother was caught beating my child while abusing heroin and meth, thsi when on apparently since my baby was 4 yrs old, cps notified me 2 years later, why ? Because they kept giving her mom chance after chance, eventually she burned all the bridges and cps had no choice put to reach out to me, me and my now wife fought and fought, we were blessed with a good judge, who saw how one sided the system is, and granted me full custody with no way to overturn until my daughter is 18, she is now 10 and is growing to be one special little girl. Moral of my story never give up on your kids even if the system tells you otherwise as long as you do right, all your tears and sleeples nights won't go unnoticed.
