    It's just hard to imagine 9 as an open world game, when the storyline is surely about the BSAA and them having their own bioweapons shown by the ending of Village, and Chris Redfield going after them. This plot would suit a standard linear game much more. Then again the game might be completely different for all we know. God knows what genre or tone will they going for this time, but i think that's exciting

    I just really hope it manages to be scary. Personally I don’t think it should be open world but back to linear levels with branching paths. Also I really think capcom shouldn’t have worked on several games at the same time.

      Most large-scale game companies work on multiple games at once. Capcom is a studio with over 3k people working for them, and having that amount of people split up into teams of 150-500 is pretty standard in the industry. Even if we high-ball it and say every team at Capcom has 500 people working in them, that means Capcom has at least six different teams capable of working on AAA games at all times.
      In reality, I'd assume their average development team size is about 250 based on prior statements they've made, so they could reasonably have 12 separate teams working around the clock. For reference/context, the entirety of the Witcher 3 was developed by a team of 250 people over the span of three years and a half years on a budget of 80 million dollars.

    Oof, if DD2's is how they optimized the engine for open world then that's worrying.

    • @Shweelan
      @Shweelan  Před 3 měsíci +1

      RE games usually have substantially less NPCs in them than a lot of video games, so hopefully that means they won't have 50 different A.I scripts running at all times in the CPU that caused the game to plummet into the 20fps range like DD2 did.

    I'm a bit worried about the open world concept... but if this the game that Jill makes her return as a mainline protagonist I wouldn't mind!

    • @Shweelan
      @Shweelan  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Open world's got me a bit shook as well. The RE games kick ass as tight, narrow-scale, linear games that focus on singular locations built entirely around a limited set of mechanics. They're really risking a lot by throwing that out for what could easily be god-awful open world slop if they don't pull this off properly.

      People hear "open world", and immediately fear Ubisoft
      Think of RE Village... village hub but bigger, or Silent Hill 2 town, but more explorable...

    Dusk Golem talks a lot of rubbish, some of the things he’s said have been total bs (such as RE3 remake featuring a semi-open world and Alex Wesker being in RE8 etc). But he has said one thing I hope turns out to be true, which is that a CV remake is currently in development (along with RE0).
    I always expected CV at some point, as I believe they went with 4 after 3 because 4 was just too popular to have not been next, and now that 4’s done they can do CV from a comparatively more confident position, but i’d never in a million years have expected RE0.

    Wouldn’t open world Resident Evil just be Dead Rising?

    • @Shweelan
      @Shweelan  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Probably not. Dead Rising focuses a lot more on brainless zombie hordes, goofy comedy, time-sensitive quests, ridiculous weapon crafting, and parody. An open world RE game would probably be more along the lines of The Evil Within 2. Darker atmosphere, less but more dangerous enemies, strict resource management, and a more narrow-crafting system focused more on atmosphere and horror.

      What you mean resident evil 4 remake played perfectly fine

    • @dankmemer7431
      @dankmemer7431 Před 3 měsíci

      @rayosborne8617 it's pretty flawed.
      - The Gunplay has Bullet Travel Time and Bullet Drop Time which really mess up the flow of shooting on top of that Guns Now have Weapon Bloom which is not a great system honestly for Horde Based Combat as again it messes up the flow of shooting, lack of laser sights on 95-97% of the Guns is also sorely missed as the new Crosshair/Focus Shot system is quite flawed for a game about Shooting through Hordes of Enemies. They really should've just Copied Dead Space Remake's Gunplay as those Guns feel great too use and shoot. The only good things about the Guns is the Slight differences each one has as well as the Guns having Chamber rounds (that's a really cool mechanic).
      - Inconsistent Stagger is another big problem with the game, if I can Kill an Enemy before I get the chance to Perform a Kick or Suplex then there's something very wrong.
      - Leon and the other characters have Little to no I-Frames meaning that getting combed to death is way more possible, this is very annoying on higher difficulties
      - The Manual Melee Expansions from RE6 aren't here for some reason
      - Movement Feels very Bad (RE6 and Rev 2 have better Movement)
      - Ashley's AI is quite bad almost to the point that I wish I could Control her like Moira or Natalia from Revelations 2 and just make my own hiding spots for her or even having her like Ellie from The Last of Us where she's Invincible but can still be captured or even being able to give her a Boot Knife or Kitchen Knife to get out of a Grab from A Ganado
      - Speaking of Grabs, The System is worse than RE2R's as The Point of the Grab's is pretty bad now you can take Damage before the Ganado has even grabbed you and it makes the whole risk Durability of your knife or sacrifice Health system pointless and back grabs do damage which again that's really weird. It's a simple fix as well all they had to do was give you two seconds of Invulnerability on the third second you start taking damage when grabbed from the Front and present the player the Knife Command & the Kick Breakaway (The Two second Invulnerability window can be cut off when the Player decides to use the Kick Breakaway) instantly, as for Back Grabs just make it to where they don't do Damage.
      - There's no Crouch shooting for some reason which even VILLage had
      - Using Crouches to Avoid Grabs is a really cool idea but it's much like the Stagger very inconsistent.
