As someone who's delved into app development i can explain why random apps want to make and manage phone calls. Unless it's a calling app the only reason they need it is so if you get a call that can actually let you know while you're in the app. If you hit deny on that arrow.io game for it then any time you got a call while that app was running, Itd go straight to voicemail. And not even alert you that you missed a call.

We live out in the country and get terrible connection here; there's very few internet providers that'll actually come to us, and paying for a premium version of the wifi doesn't actually help because they can't really offer it that fast. My family didn't know that and paid a bunch extra for years only to find out the 3mb download speed we have (crappy anyways, I know) is actually only up to 1mb. They were supposed to give us a refund and kept my dad on hold for over an hour before hanging up on him. It's so stupid, but no other service comes out here.

As someone who's delved into app development i can explain why random apps want to make and manage phone calls.
Unless it's a calling app the only reason they need it is so if you get a call that can actually let you know while you're in the app. If you hit deny on that arrow.io game for it then any time you got a call while that app was running, Itd go straight to voicemail. And not even alert you that you missed a call.

We live out in the country and get terrible connection here; there's very few internet providers that'll actually come to us, and paying for a premium version of the wifi doesn't actually help because they can't really offer it that fast. My family didn't know that and paid a bunch extra for years only to find out the 3mb download speed we have (crappy anyways, I know) is actually only up to 1mb. They were supposed to give us a refund and kept my dad on hold for over an hour before hanging up on him. It's so stupid, but no other service comes out here.

The real question is whether it allows you to redirect focus to another window. From what I've read, Norton disallows you from hiding that popup behind another window, which eventually explains why (s)he just doesn't do Alt+Tab, save the work and restart. Because I guess it doesn't even allow task manager to come out, rendering it unusable. Personally, I am using default Windows Defender and since it is binded to Windows Update to receive critical security updates and I am user of Windows Insider fast ring builds, I have most recent features and updates, even those that are not released yet.

Also studies into the matter appear to capture the wait time for non-life threatening medical needs. It appears that in industrialized countries, if your life is in imminent danger you get pushed to the front of the line.
Moreover, the US pays more per capita than comparable countries, with worse health outcomes. This would suggest to me that people are not dying in the waiting rooms in Europe. If you name a study on this I would be genuinely interested in reading it.
