      I have fun with video editing, I learn a lot of things and I love to learn new things. Currently it takes me as long as making the pot!

    Wonderful pot Greg. Nanban styles strike a beautiful chord in my heart and this one leaves me yearning. What is that texture I see right before it goes into the kiln the 2nd time over the RIO?

      Thank you. Just before putting in the kiln I wanted to add a few spots with a transparent glaze, to vary the shades and shine a little. I was afraid that the pot would be too "regular".

    Thanks for sharing so many tips and tricks! I would like to know about some greenish stains that appear on the bonsai pot after firing, would it be the effect of some oxide or glaze?

    salut Greg j'en apprends à chaque fois , es ce que l'oxyde de fer donne l'aspect Patine ou c'est juste pour l'émau ? , Merci

    • @Greg-ceramics
      @Greg-ceramics  Před rokem +2

      je met l'oxyde de fer et en frottant le pot à l'éponge j'en enlève une bonne partie, l'oxyde reste surtout dans les creux et c'est ce qui donne cette patine.

    I really like your videos. What kind of clay do you use and where do you buy it?

    • @Greg-ceramics
      @Greg-ceramics  Před rokem +3

      I am often asked this question, one day I will have to make a video on the choice of clay! 😄
      In this video it is a mixture of several sandstones.
      Each region has its own clays, you will surely not find the clays that I use, the retailers all have a multitude of different clays to offer. Mine comes from the north of France (st Amand).
      But often you have to try several before finding the one that suits you.

    besides the oxide what else did you apply sporadically?

    • @Greg-ceramics
      @Greg-ceramics  Před rokem

      Before putting in the kiln I was afraid that the pots would be too uniform, and at the last moment I added some splashes of a transparent glaze to make some shiny spots.

      This is encouraging 😊

    👌🏼Nice video. What kind of oxide are you aplying. if i may ask✌🏼

    • @Greg-ceramics
      @Greg-ceramics  Před rokem +2

      It's just red iron oxide (RIO), sometime I add a little manganese, if I don't want it to be too red, but not here

    Drying for 1-2 months? I don't think I've ever dried a piece for longer than 3 weeks.

    • @Greg-ceramics
      @Greg-ceramics  Před rokem +2

      the bigger the pot, the longer it takes to dry. I prefer to take too much time than not enough, it's the key to avoid breakages.
      I think this one must have dried under plastic film for about 6 weeks.
