    • @lifebyolia
      @lifebyolia  Před měsícem

Hi! Thank you for your kind words. Here's the recipe for that dressing:
      ¼ cup olive oil
      3 tablespoons lemon juice
      1 clove garlic
      ½ teaspoon dried oregano
      ½ teaspoon sugar
      ¼ teaspoon salt
      ¼ teaspoon ground pepper
And in case you need the full recipe, here are the other ingredients: red onion, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, baby spinach (in the video I replaced it with arugula), shredded cooked chicken, pepperoncini, crumbled feta cheese, sunflower seeds.
      Enjoy!

    @Blindlight4029 Před měsícem

I didn't know it was common to work on the timber lot where you buy your wood. I guess, in the city, with small apartments, that's a common need?
I was looking at my wall map and noticed how much more south much of North America is located compared to most all of Europe. Places like New York City and Philadelphia would be considered very warm places and then I saw that my hometown, Atlanta, is equivalent to S. Spain as I recall. Then there is another 800 miles south to the bottom of Fla and south Texas is further south than that. It hit home how lucky living in the US we have been.
Of course, it was a tragedy, how we wiped out the history and culture of our equivalent to the Sami's all throughout the New World.
I noted the Siberian traverse one must mostly go if one was not going to tackle the oceans to reach North America and what looked to be about 2000 land miles east of extremely cold navigating and that this likely caused the intellectual separation of Europe - Asia from North and South America.
I think of the advanced cultures found around Mexico city where all they lacked were the professional paid hunters and ammunition and weapon discoveries the west had made to have kept alive their region dominance.
Most "progress" came from the invention of central banking and the corporate model which then allowed vast accumulations of wealth to be invested in projects with no immediate chance of success.
Those with great wealth could entice the talented but here to fore little used intellectual resource of Europe and Asia in order to tackle projects they would never have had time to do before, because they were now making a living wage to spend hours on their previous hobbies and creative thoughts were seeded and became physical where "getting by" dominated before.
But really, up till 1600, the advantages technically in the Europe Asia area were pretty slight. Of course, when our "Samis" were conquered, they were devastated by European diseases and lost 90% of their population, a mostly unintentional, but nevertheless real "holocaust".
Anyway, those are my theories and I am sticking to them for now.
It's seems all your videos take me to places in my mind that I don't contemplate on the day to day and thanks for that.
Oh to be 40 years younger, I'd be in Finland but perhaps not in Helsinki but a little more in the country.
You'll be worrying about "black flies?" in a month or so
    Cheers
What I like about Finland is that it seems that your leaders really want to help their people. We have clearly lost our way in the west and instead of having leaders that build up their citizenry, they seem to contemplate ways to consider us irrelevant and a nuisance as they put all their focus on controlling you all over there and I think it shall get worse before it gets better.
Sorry about that final bleak thought
    Happy sawing~!

    • @lifebyolia

I like reading your thoughts as they make me reflect as well. I apologize for the delay in my response, it takes me some time to gather my thoughts and express them in a language that isn't my native one.
Your thoughts made me wonder what other parts of the world might look like without the influence of Europeans in the past. And it is obvious that without the resources obtained from the colonized countries in the past, the Western world, as we know it today, would have developed differently too.
Would we come up with a better system than capitalism, which leads to overconsumption and excessive use of resources? Or maybe we would have even more wars inside for the resources? Our history is indeed a tragic and complicated thing. It raises so many deep philosophical and moral questions. But I think the best thing we can do now is to learn from it and use these lessons to build a better future for everyone.
What you said about the Finnish leaders is so true. You can really feel that the people and the government are in the same boat here and all are working for the good of the country. This is something you will not often find in most countries in the world.
A little story that comes to my mind whenever I think about the Finnish government: last summer I met the then Minister of Foreign Affairs in a hardware store, no guard or anything. It's simple here, the people trust the government, and the government trusts the people.
You can meet many Finns who criticize the government, though. But I guess criticism is what helps us to develop and grow. Also some people say that Finland is not as good as it used to be, and they feel that it is getting worse here. I can’t say if it’s really true.
I can see why you would want to live in Finland, but not in Helsinki.
I also want to move out of Helsinki in the near future. The idea of living in the countryside is more appealing to me. I've traveled around Finland a bit, and I can say that Helsinki is quite different from the rest of the country, even from the other big cities slightly further north.
As for the shelf, I'm still proud of it, hehe :) It's nice to have something made with your own hands. I don’t think it’s common to work on the timber as I did. At least I didn't see any other people there. But why not :) I needed to cut the timber into smaller pieces to fit in my car, so I just cut them to the sizes I needed right away.
Thank you for your message and for sharing your thoughts. I appreciate it, and it’s always interesting to read your comments. Take care!

@@lifebyolia I am so mad. I just wrote about 7 paragraphs responding to you in the comment notification area and accidentally left the page and lost everything I said!
I will try to put my thoughts back again, here and, hopefully, will do as well!😒
Firstly, what a nice surprise to get this late response from you. I had ascertained by not hearing from you on several previous posts that anytime I commented on the conditions of the world, you ignored it. I am glad to find out that you are open to these musings for it was something about the quality of your product that caused me to go there.
The language issue surely must be vexing for you. A problem I never had because I only know English.
America was put together on a massive continent, by the English and I can think of only a few places that have the convenience of everyone speaking the same language as we do here in the US.
It's actually an issue that I envy Europeans for, that amazing continent that has baked for thousands of years where mostly to go 20 miles from home was a rare occasion and born from that came the fact of significantly different languages developing just hundreds of miles apart.
Thankyou for taking the effort to respond to my screeds!
I know that, growing up in Ukraine, you probably learned to NOT talk politics with acquaintances due to the aftermath of the Bolshevik Revolution that took over much of Eastern Europe after the wars.
I am here to say that maybe not now in Ukraine, but it is Russia that is beginning to lead the way on the Values so naturally existing within our various peoples.
Here in the west, there has begun, especially over the last ten years, this huge propaganda campaign targeted mostly at the young that claims that "Left is right, and right is left" and to do that, the sledge hammer of "Big Brother" has come down more and more to where we now live in our own form of Communism that came about thru "feminism", Identity politics, race politics and, I'm just getting started, but you get the drift.
They are clearly also doing this in Ukraine but in Finland, it seems to be much more in its infancy and it does start out slow but I think with the "me too" movement, in the US, it went kind of bananas.
In Finland, the politicians are trying to improve the lives of the people but it seems in the west, they are deliberately tearing our fabric apart!
As far as I can tell, Putin does not put up with that and on You Tube, one begins to find videos similar to yours except these videos are about westerners migrating to Russia ( usually with a bunch of kids)
Well, the Deep State, as I like to call it, or the ones who actually rules the west, has to raise the censorship quotas to tamp back down, the people's natural desire to control their own lives. These issues are often implemented via corporations which is the tools by which the "Pyramid of Power" is erected.
This means that many of us have learned that we live in a fake democracy, becoming the more obvious because of the election tampering they don't even really try to hide anymore..
Enough of that, your peace of mind is contagious in your videos as I watch you put together your various plants, as you happily saw away on some wood without electricity, as you make some of the best looking meals I have ever seen, as you demonstrate your knowledge of herbs on your walks in the woods and as I listen to your soft soothing voice!
It emanates strong human values and a youngster that has mostly got her sh_t together.
Sorry this was so long and I see you have a new video which I plan to watch later and just may comment on!😉
Keep on doing what you are doing and we'll keep watching!!

@@jsigur157 It’s not true that in Ukraine we do not talk about politics. It’s just that we used to always complain about politics. Because our history was that. My people were betrayed by their leaders many times in the past. We used to not talk before because we experienced the true censorship when Ukraine was part of the Soviet Union (though for us it was occupation). Because all our people who tried to talk were killed. It's simple math, you want to live - you stay silent. We had two generations of young intelligentsia who were killed by the Soviet regime (you can search for example for Executed Renaissance). This caused a huge “trauma” for my people, which was passed to children and then to grandchildren. We have come a long way to learn how to speak freely again and be politically active.
A person who was born and lived his life in freedom will never understand what post-soviet countries were going through to gain this freedom. And some of them are still going, it’s not only Ukraine, but also, for example, Georgia (see the protests happening in Georgia right now). Russia is only covering up with the traditional values. In my opinion the protection of traditional values must not bring abuse, violence, corruption, destruction and war. You cannot justify it with any values.

    • @jsigur157
      @jsigur157 Před 5 dny

@@lifebyolia There is no such thing as freedom but the idea is useful when you are trying steal power from a leader infected with the ideal of liberalism. Any real belief that we are free in America has been ended with the 2016 election of Trump of which the true ruling elites seem to hate.
So they throw out things like "Freedom" and "liberty" around election time and 85% the people fall for it hook line and sinker.
Yes, relatively speaking, America was born in the wilderness and so to help subdue it, a very liberal constitution got written up so it would be ratified but I can tell you that, today, our constitution is totally ignored and the people don't even notice that its being totally ignored. The politicians still cry out that we are the bastions of "free speech" but they have us looking more and more like Europe everyday and you wouldn't believe the chaos on the southern border we got, or maybe you would, that their lack of enforcing the laws on the books have allowed. It doesn't matter how loud we howl, they just pretend we aren't howling! 🤨
Ultimately the secret rulers want a one world government and it's just one "World War" away from that likely happening. Oddly enough, I believe it is Russia standing in the elites way for making progress on that. Then they have this non-stop campaign telling everyone and all that its nationalistic whites that are the new " terrorists" everyone needs to fear and that could also spell internal civil war as a result and I think they are stirring up this type of discontent in Europe as well.
As you say, the psychology of all these troubles changes a lot when you get to Eastern Europe and I could learn a good bit on that.
I don't think "traditional values" needs to bring the evils you name for I see those things everywhere already but I also see those things being brought in worse under the flags of feminism, identity confusion, anti white racism, climate change hysteria. That's where most of the 2+2=5 logic is coming into play
