      Exactly why I stopped caring about tier lists years ago. This is very prominent in the MK games too. One player preforms good with one character next thing you know that character is the hottest shit.

      i do believe its a matter of recognizing your win condition and dominating that mind game, steve is so fast he usually makes people resort to counter poking with jabs rather than running the risk of being counter hit in the middle of a big swing. thats why numen won, because arslan didnt wanna risk getting floated in a countered running 3,2. but when he did run the risk he actually won doing so, therefore i believe its just a matter of metagaming. like when u fight a charge character and stick on him like white on rice constantly switching sides and jumping to throw off his charge timing😂

      @@ShenasRI Steve is not a low tier character. That's where you are wrong and you are using azucena launch stats to represent this current one which is severely weaker than before. Steve's punishment is massive and she's very easily punishable. Her strings are all negative and majority of them are high. TMM said she was S tier for idiotic reasons. She was considered high tier for literally her running move which tracked both sides and chipped you to death reliably. That was nerfed and now she is no longer up there with the High As. You just spoke out of pure ignorance of the game. The strongest character in the game currently is King. Up under him is Feng, Xaioyu, was dragunov I do not know if that's the case anymore now that his tracking isn't as good and his crouching move follow up isn't so plus. I think it would be closer to the truth to say that tier lists matter as much as everyone believes them to matter, combined with how mature they are and how rigorous they have been tested.
    For over a decade people believed yoshi to be low tier in smash melee, and it was basically true until it wasn't.
    There were just no players confident enough to unlock the potential of the character until aMSa came around in the mid 2010s. The hypothesis of yoshi being low tier was not tested enough.
    Problem is that its more difficult to prove a negative. So there is a feedback relationship between confidence into a tierlist influencing how many people will try to test it and prove it wrong.

    10:30 Tier lists are actually more important in the high level. You can use anyone in the low levels. In fact, characters like Eddy, Hwoarang and the Bears are the scrub killers that you will find a lot of in the low to mid levels. It's only in the high level where you actually begin to see their flaws and they start to fall off. Anybody who says "tier lists aren't important in the high level" is just propagating the "feel good" mindset where you're made to believe that you can do well with any character in this game. Like how your parents and teacher will tell you that you can become anyone you want to be if you worked hard enough. The harsh reality says otherwise. The reason why we celebrate Ranchu's bears, Numan's Steve, and Knee's Lili pick against Qudans is because they've done something exceptional that 90 percent of the community wouldn't do or wouldn't be able to do. Don't undermine their achievements by saying "it doesn't matter".

      @usmansubhani7482 Před 27 dny +3

      Simple but needs getting used to. Has as much movement as Yoshi with a lot of punch variations, but the hard part is getting used to his play style that doesn’t have many launchers.
      I mean, he has dodge buttons for kicks after all.

    • @ranges787
      @ranges787 Před 27 dny

      his execution is way easier now.
      you need to play around with stances and be creative to open someone up with steve.
      he is in my opinion the only character with a 50/50 that is just based on timing. in low mid ranks you have many shenanigans but after purple you need to mix the opponent up with timing rather than mid low.

    • @BlackJustice2637
      @BlackJustice2637 Před 27 dny +4

      Just do it. If you enjoy the character, the difficulty won't matter. You just work hard and become good enough to pop off anyway. This video is a great example of that

    • @iciel1009
      @iciel1009 Před 27 dny +4

      Some execution, they removed pkb transition from Lionheart so you dont have to practice that. Hard is mostly because of his gameplan, no strong lows, no conventional 15f launcher, not a lot of “broken” moves that other characters have. Dont worry about it too much and give him a shot. Still a fun char, gl brother

    • @JohnGlow2
      @JohnGlow2 Před 27 dny

      Hardest part about Steve is managing his stances and movement. Its imperative that you master duck cancels cause you’ll always be using them, and its imperative that you master stance cancels and switching. Other than that and a few tough things execution wise, he doesnt really have a go to ‘I win if I land this’ button other than B1, and how successful you are with that depends on how strong your fundamentals are.

    think about it. Arslan was carried by the character and lacked the fundamentals numan had. Thats just proves that those S tier chars are not only carry you but also make you worse of a player in generall

    • @BlackJustice2637
      @BlackJustice2637 Před 27 dny +10

      I don't think he's worse because of that, he's just normally a defensive player playing against a character he didn't lab against, while Numot grinded in hell with a bottom tier character and is familiar with the azu match up

    • @Iwatoda_Dorm
      @Iwatoda_Dorm Před 27 dny +2

      Arslan did not get cooked there and saying he doesn’t have fundies is incredibly bad wording :v, he played defensively and poke heavy- Numan just out paced him in alot of the decision making and kept pressure on him in what is the most defensive characters in the roster- he played Steve like a mad man going for unsafe strings and never b1 until the very end where Arslan got desperate and stopped crouching. It was an insane match. Steve isn’t as bottom tier as we think he is, it’s legit because no one pilots him like Numan does.

      @lucastonoli3256 does Steve have anything that's bs in this game? Heat smashes are cracked in general, but numot almost never used his. Meanwhile, almost every other character is greatly rewarded for doing it. Steve can't use the main mechanic of the game nearly as well as the majority of the cast. I like him, but he's not that strong. I don't even play the character, but it always feels like their wins are earned

    I think Arslan's downfall is that he's been playing that clown of a character for so long now that he sacrifices everything else in his game just to spam the party moves. It's depressing how whenever Arslan starts getting downloaded, he just resorts to WR3,2 and mixes up with throw, df1,4 or db4. Its so brainless that its hard to respect. I understand tier whore characters always being a thing but even Kuni wasn't that bad. She had stupid poking and good movement. Azucena just plays herself.
