  • Buildings burn and looters target shops around Papua New Guinea's capital after a pay dispute involving the nation's security forces sparked angry protests. Soldiers, police officers and prison staff staged a lively but peaceful protest in the morning of January 10, after noticing their pay had been docked without explanation. But by the afternoon pockets of unrest had spread through the capital Port Moresby.

As someone who was working with one of the stores they looted which i wont name, while we were stuck on 3rd floor of our building, the fear we experienced sadly traumatized some of our co workers. We keep asking ourselves how could the neighborhood that surrounds our stores that we treated so fairly and outmost care do something like this to us? I am sorry but yesterday we witnessed a failure of humanity.

It is very sad to see what has happened to our country. The shops are so innocent. They are also paying tax. The right approach to take is to stop work. On the other hand, the government of the day know very well that it was an ongoing problem of increased unemployment, inflation which was not addressed. If it was addressed we should not have faced these problem. I pray for peace and restoration for my country, PNG.

Addressing a challenging issue can be quite difficult. Such behavior is undoubtedly unacceptable. However, it's crucial to bear in mind that as a business owner, it's not only about managing the business but also contributing to the development of society. Building up society involves investing in education and providing employment opportunities. Additionally, individuals in the community should strive to minimize hedonistic tendencies. This process is undoubtedly challenging and will require a significant amount of time.

As Papua New Guinean all I can say is, whoever's behind all this rioting and looting should advice the public not to touch all business houses coz they are also paying tax individuals same as us and most of all providing services . Instead should focus on their point of attack directly to whoever's responsible for Taxation thing. This is a simple misconception of Point Of Attack. Concern PNG Citizen.

The Lord helps those that help themselves.
Proverbs 6:10-12 - A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest-and poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man.
Proverbs 12:11 - He who works his land will have abundant food, but he who chases fantasies lacks judgment.
Proverbs 12:24 - Diligent hands will rule, but laziness ends in slave labor.
Proverbs 13:4 - The sluggard craves and gets nothing, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied.
Colossians 3:23 - Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.
Matthew 5:3-4 - God blesses those who realize their need for him; and who mourn will be comforted.
1 Timothy 5:8 - If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

ZP I think some may miss the subtext here but that sadly is what strikes me as well. The situation in PNG is not helped by an education system that is abysmal and creating a dependency on handouts rather than self reliance. I think the Compton reference is also due to the same issue: dependency. Once you move away from work as a source of revenue to handouts people feel entitled and that is the problem here.

This National FcukUp is a result of bad governance, weak leadership, continued social struggles and economic suffering building up overtime, its like the government built a bomb and the shit self-detonated lol…the world got their views about us as a people, that’s fine we don’t mind we never do, we know we seen as primitives yet we wear that badge with honor and continue to fight for survival continue to show love to foreigners, as we know all human being is created equal by God regardless of race color or creed.
