  • Soldiers have been out on the streets across Ecuador - after President Daniel Noboa declared a "state of war" against drug gangs.
More than 300 people have been arrested for alleged acts of terrorism, including 13 people accused of storming onto a television set during a live broadcast, taking staff hostage at gunpoint.

Those who cause this much pain and misery shouldn't be mixing with regular society. Say what you want about China & Russia but they sure know how to deal with criminals. This is the result of decades of the war on drugs delivering the drug market to the cartels. Ecuador can expect prohibition to keep failing, as it tends to do. Places like El Salvador are an exception, but it is a tiny authoritarian country that has to do mass arrests to keep order. It would have been cheaper to legalize, but then some parasites wouldn't get paid.
