- Central Police are investigating an attempted car theft which was captured on camera and uploaded on social media.
The video sparked a wave of comments from social media users and created a debate on the increase number of car thefts in and around Port Moresby and the lack of police presence along highways.
The video, captured on a dash board camera shows how the victim reversed up the Sogeri Road when she realized the criminals stopped their vehicle ahead of her.
In an off camera interview with EMTV News, the victim explained that it was her motherly instincts that gave her the courage to do something she had never dreamed of doing.
The incident occurred along the road leading to Sogeri in the Kairiku Hiri District, just meters away from the PNG Power Compound at Rouna Three.
Top driving... Your motherly instinct saved your lives. Glad you all are ok.
It's fake news to make money. Acted out by EMTV crew because, police have no record of it, even no police report of the said investigation, if there was an investigation. Cheap journalism!
Fact
Too brave lady. Thank God you are safe with your family
I literally don’t know how that driver got the skills to drive backwards that well. I woulda panicked and ran them over already.
When it comes to Family, mothers are always the hero.. That is far more than a hero. Super Mum!!😲😲💪💪👍👍💖💖
The mother is the Hero with Gods help🙏🙏
Damn good driving not too many people man or woman could reverse a car that fast and expertly navigate.
Glad the mother and her kids are okay, during emergencies one does the unthinkable 👍💪
The news reporter didn't mentioned that it was an Australian mother, it' was at the end when the Australian correspondent Clearifies. she needs updating
My thoughts exactly... too scared, maybe....
wow how fast was she reversing. skilled
Thank you EMTV for clearing some confusions. This type of act is not called for! Hope authorities get those involved asap
Fake new!
I pray all the women in d world become this brave and strong
Wow!Shes very brave.💪
A very brave mother..
Brave lady 💜💛💚
yes your right
Most especially in shp thats why I cancelled my working contract there a lots of problems government has no power to protect foreign workers.
Very very risky back DRIVING o salute on her skill and norm..
Credits to the women driver who drive defensively, those useless street tugs must fully investigated and must face the full force of Law, they portray bad image for our Capital City POM and the country PNG as a whole, this type of unless childish attitude must be stopped.

Had the exact same experience at Tari gap. Had to reverse back about a click to turn my vehicle around.
Plus, the road in Sogeri really steep (some people from my school got involved in an accident in the same year).
There's a logic in this video..if another car behind was involved, how come,it let the car to reverse, which doesn't makes sense at all..
Another thing the Australian media, mention some names that I haven't seen on the video
Police always giving excuses about man power. What about those loaded military looking trucks that takes on street vendors?
This is an act that shows the result of poor policing in these areas.
She was a hero. Brave enough to reverse her vehicle that far to safety
She's very smart to turned back n drive back on that narrow road
Saw this on ig, but it was the original video, didn't know it was in PNG.
I will never visit this country even though I’m Pacific Islanders 😒 shame on us . Why we always class as second class? Because of our low life behaviour? Fiji is way better than Papua New Guinea
kain tasol na PNG go backwards stap
Brave woman 👍👍👍
yes your right
Cool driving skills.....too good...
I don’t know why are you commenting on journalism, when we should be shamed at such actions which continue to create a bad image of us internationally....
Hi all, EMTV received the footage from the victim as can be seen used in this report and our journalist did the report after an interview with the victim. Kind Regards.
Well done EMTV
good...now trace these retards and penalise them..
The world should know about it
Thanks for the update 😅😅😅😅
Very brave .
Not sure about your headline there EMTV . According to reports on ABC News,7 News AND 9 News, the husband was driving. These three news agencies reported their story saying the husband drove, while you report yours saying the wife drove. Failed journalism on this story by EMTV or the other three news agencies?

No, outside Port Moresby....it's at Sogeri
sorry but, the advert before the actual video shows a Papua New Guinean purportedly living overseas begging Papua New Guineans back home to join some virtual money scheme/ This is a disgrace bringing shame and spoiling PNGs image abroad. She should just came back to PNG..

Limited man power and logistical support blablabla... For how long will this last since independence?🤣🤣
Fake news indeed! As you can see, it is clearly acted out in collaborations with the local youths in two sedans for few dollars to produce this video clip in an attempt to continuously tarnish Port Moresby city as an unsafe city. There is no where one can reversed a car that quickly on that section of the road, it is narrow and steep and even white sedan trailing should have blocked from the rear! The youths ignored even the white sedan if it was not part of the plot. The manner in which it quickly appeared on Aussie media, says it all....EMTV, kisim video clip na igo report nating nating, Enough!
Kaks
