blame the Arsenal neighbourhood who rejected the extension plans.... though tbf I do not know what the club were offering to people and if they were going to build them new homes maybe where the Emirates is now instead but whatever the terms were most seemed to disagree with it, so what can you do?
But now Stepanovs would be better than any defender playing for Arsenal in 2021 lol I would even say compared to their level, he would be a world class defender
Was talking about this last night after the Southampton game with the boys. We're all in our mid 30s now, families and the rest. Perspective on life and that - but we did get to see that era. How lucky we were when you look back.
5:38 if you want Bergkamp in a nutshell. & 11:03 Henry who was still developing.. receives a tricky pass, he slightly over runs it but then as cold as ice he readjusts & then skins the defender & deserved & assist on the end of it.
Fair do's to Everton for playing their part... Shame Jeffers couldnt play his & score against his old club after Henry set him up instead of scoring a hattrick.
How exceptionally well does Cashley Cole do for that first goal!? Beside being a tosser, i would have him next to Roberto Carlos as the best left back in my lifetime.
Alan Parry,Martin Tyler,Clive Tysdsley,Ian Darke,Petr Drury,Jon Champion,Andy Townsend and Jim Beglin all top premier league commentetors.Alan Parru for this game.
@@tayeebhussain5014 He would have prob got five more years at Everton but only because that would have been the contract they gave him. imo I really don't think he would have been that great regardless, in 16 seasons as a footballer, Jeffers played 292 times scoring 52 goals.... and the last 8 years of his career was in the lower leagues, or in Australia. His numbers were not that bad for a teen but he picked up an injury before Arsenal, and maybe that is what "ruined" him. Arsenal signing a player that has problems was weirdly not unheard of. (weird medical team there. lol)
No wonder it was 4-3 .. some of those names (Wright was 50/50, Stepanovs, Luzhny, Grimand) *That said Wenger made a team on £1million a year net. I was there that day though as a boy & the streets were bouncing.. Wenger really lived up to the clubs motto 'Victoria concordia cresit'

Maybe. Now we have to try and make the emirates sound and feel like highbury

I am here because of self quarantine..... Seeing this game bring back those good old day' memories
A centre back pairing of stepanovs and Luzhny, my my.
Mustafi was their lovechild
@@RGY33 Luzhny is a useful full back who makes no small contribution to our attack. I certainly do appreciates Luzhny!!
It was unlucky. All available CB were injured and Luzhny was a RB while Stephanov was still new.
You can only truly appreciate how bad Stepanovs was by watching this game in 2018.
Qwecy he has a mixed bag for sure, but he did sign Campbell, Toure, Lauren, Mertersacker, Koscielny and promoted Ashley Cole to the first team.
@Qwecy that's cause you didn't have a decent holding midfielder.
@Qwecy Koscielny was good in his prime. Dodgy to begin with and injury prone towards the end, but he was solid for a good few years in between.

Arsenal have always had world class players
Everton only has 7 EPL wins against arsenal in the PL era just 7!!!!!
everton was always annoying to play against though, that went for all top teams.
