- Taking a travel and tourism course can be a great options for your studies, BUT it is not for everyone. If you are considering studying travel and tourism management or taking a practical-based travel and tourism course, you should consider both the pros and cons of doing so.
In this video I give you 5 reasons why you might NOT want to take a travel and tourism course. Having studied and taught travel and tourism for most of my life, I am naturally a big advocate of studying the tourism industry (to help to make it a better place!), but I appreciate that this is not the best option for everyone.

A great aspect about the Travel Industry here in Australia is the Flight Centre Academy where you study and work within the industry.

Used to study for travel and tourism and applied for jobs from them too but I got rejected by both Air New Zealand and Qantas. Now i want to change my career to Welding as my career choice but hey! It's not too late to change careers

I am already a Travel Associate but at the very beginning of my career, no progress options in my company, no commission, rewards or options to input how things can improve so I tried to get another job in a higher up company but I was told I didn’t have enough experience. Hello! Im from Argentina and I am studying Tourism and Hotel Managment, I was very excited to study it, and I started a month ago. I don't like the subjects that we are having now (because is a lot of Economy and its not my best) but I have that sensation that I will love the career because it expands you a lot in the future. I don't know what I am going to do after the career, and that is whats makes me sad, because i am very afraid of not getting a job, or no be "apassionate" enough, Shall I get out of the career o shall I wait?, I really love your videos because they made me to think about not get out, but sometimes I don't feel good enough to do this, How can I get the motivation to study it?

I quit my school (it was russian Lang&lit)and I'm thinkin about study tourism ( tourism guidance in Turkey). Ppl say don't do that, you can't find a job. I'm also not good at communication, I'm an introvert. I'm not sure what should I do??What if don't succes or don't like it!?
Tourism is the biggest industry in the world… plenty of jobs!

Hi i am really indecisive and i am not sure if i want to do travel & tourism i am an undergraduate so it will be my first time in a uni i like hands on work more also i suck at maths so wanted something without it and that was the sole reason for choosing T&T..i am also interested in cyber security but am scared it will be hard and i will fail also it probably has coding that i never learned before and also probably has maths🤦♀️ help me😭

You can study this all over the world, decide where is most suitable for you and then go from there

If you don’t think your course is right for you then you should talk to your tutors to see what options might be available for you?
@@TourismTeacher I've already talk with them but my only options either to finish my degree and take 2nd degree or drop now and apply later. I only have 2 semesters left tho.

Hi, I am a tour guide, 24 years old at this moment. I graduated from an institute having studied 2 and 1/2 years but I feel that was not enough. I have taken tourists on adventure and know what this is like but I feel there is missing something when I have to go on cultural tours. I want to attend to the university and study tourism and I am on it, I am not sure how good it would help me in the future. Or Shoud I look for some related careers? Thank you.
A degree will give you a more thorough knowledge of the industry but is not necessary for every job. It really depends on what you want to do with your career long term.
@@TourismTeacher Hi again, my long-term career would be to own a travel company because imagine me an old man of 60 or 70 years old guiding folks or leading on multi-day hikes it would be hard. As far as I see, it is possible to run a compy while working as a tour guide, well, of course, I know companies whose owners never or worked very little in tourism, so that too is something I should analyze. But from now on, I want to be more focused on cultural tours which involve guiding on ancient sites, parks, and colonial churches, these are more leisure than adventure tours. And I realized that to become a guide in places mentioned above one has to get more knowledge of the subjects in history, art, geography oh a great deal of subjects I believe. So that is what I am looking for if the University subjects would push me into doing more studies and research, but I am going to be almost 30 after the university, oh I can believe it.
