@@Steamlazer It was an unfortunate death, but let's be fair, they wanted someone memorable to serve as the sign for how close to the dark side Anakin had become. Plus, if he hadn't died there it would only mean he would have died at Anakin's hands on Mustafar which in all honesty made those separatist leaders look even more pathetic. One other thing, I actually DO think Trench went down swinging, so that's something.

Admiral Trench is SO underrated. He is highly intelligent and isn’t a coward like the other Separatist leaders
He sounds like a badass and carries himself as one too. Though weak in actual (hand to hand) combat (which is surprising given how many hands he has) the man WAS a great admiral. Too bad he fought for the wrong side in the wrong war.

He is not even close to thrawn level, but he was probably the best separatist admiral, and he was feared by the republic navy as well.
I’d say he’s better than thrawn, in clone wars admiral Yularaun feared him and they had to think and strategise to defeat him, in rebels thrawn barely does anything and he gets defeated by a dumbass kid and kidnapped by whales

@@RyanTheDark I mean yeah but unfortunately it’s how the character was designed by George. Also we only ever really see him fighting force users and space Jesus (Obi-wan). Him taking over Hondo, the night sisters, fighting Obi wan in the unfinished episodes (he beats Obi wan in a duel in less than 15 seconds) he’s truly badass.
Props go to him for also facing defeat and even death with dignity here. He just closes his eyes quietly.
Then later on when Anakin confronts him directly he goes down fighting (as much as he could against Anakin I mean).

Ngl, I got chills when Trench discovered Tup shooting Master Tiplar. Not even Trench could've seen that coming.

Why Trench is the best:
Strategic, and able to think longer than 5 seconds
Doesn't fight if he doesn't have to, unlike most who would give chase for the glory of a kill
Accepts his defeat, knowing he was outplayed
Doesn't blame his crew for failure, where as others would blamed and insulted his droids for everything, even as his commander says "We cannot, the shields are still recharging", and instead of running away, his first reaction is to try and think of a solution, until ultimately he knows he can't, and accepts his fate (except not really because he survives)
No unnecessary speeches or gloats
No motives for glory
Just there to do his job
And if he fails...then that means he was outplayed fairly
I agree but I think he does enjoy glory but mainly as an admiral seeking to prove and maintain his loyalty and effectiveness for the Separatist Alliance.
I wouldn't say gloating is 100% out of the question. That "I am your *_dOoOoOoOm"_* bit was sort of gloaty, if not something similar.

The details. All these little eyes are animated. It's especially insane in the shots where he's a cyborg. You see so many moving parts in him. The animators did a great job

I mean Trench has probably more war experience than Dooku and he knows that
I think Dooku was also treading very lightly, trying to say exactly what he thought Trench would want to hear in that situation since he unknowingly uncovered evidence of Order 66. If he was dismissive Trench would probably pursue the evidence on his own and uncovered the plot.
It's basic carrot and stick tatic. You need to give praise every now and then to motivate your troops.

This is actually a cool reversal of the old WW2 sub and sub chaser story, and a David and goliath tale to boot.

Fun fact: Trench is chronologically the first and last organic Separatist villain fought in the show.
When they first introduced him i was in a little shock. The german voice actor of him normaly voices a character from audio play cassette called "Benjamin Blümchen" who is a upright walking and talking african elephant who solves problems in his home town. And when i heard him dubbing Admiral Trench i thought "Wow. I didn't know he could make such a badass character voice."

Admiral trench is such a perfect villain he’s smart he’s cunning he’s brutal he pays attention to the smallest details (pointing out Anakin is flying the stealth ship) and he never shows an ounce of fear or mercy just the way he orders his bombers to attack the people on Christophsis and his speech is just intense and sends chills down your spine
Imagine he shows up in future Star Wars with just his head on a fully robot suit. Such character development
That was sound strategy by Admiral Trench. Had he let his ego take over and went after the rebels, that blockade would have been more vulnerable.

Even though Anakin never fought General Grevious, he did have a Separatist leader enemy of his own, Admiral Trench.
I gotta say, Trench is one of the best Star Wars villains I've ever seen, able to predict an enemies movements, before they can ever make one.
It was nice of the show writers to give Anakin his own Grievous
Honestly out of all the admirals in Star Wars, Trench and Thrawn are my favorite.

It's like that for nearly everything. Especially anime like Naruto, DBZ, My Hero Academia, etc. A good series needs interesting villains.

One of my favorite moments from the whole series is when he accepts his fate and slowly closes his eyes... im glad he survived because he is one of the most badass and intelligent cis admirals, i love him. does anybody agree that the eye closing scene is badass?

Thrawn is overrated as fuck, he looks like a smurf on crack with such a low voice that I have to replay what he says 5/10. Trench has a cooler design, cooler voice and faced death like a boss.

I love him. He was my favorite separatist general. Such a shape that they practically killed him of for almost the entire series. I wish, appeared in more episodes

Honestly, lowkey wish to see what a military composed of star war's greatest tactical minds would've looked like. Thrawn and Trench in the same fleet sounds terrifying.
I would love a story were Trench and Thrawn have a chat or a game of strategy. Perhaps a share of thoughts about the best way to deal with enemies. They both are ruthless and intelligent.

For some reason the way Trench talks reminds me A LOT of how Beast Wars Megatron talked, especially that long drawn out 'Yesss'
The first part where he accepted his death was admirable
He accepted that he was bested in combat like a badass and took it like a man.
Instead of trying to raise the recharging shields, Trench should have fired all laser batteries, he could have hit the cloaked ship or the torpedoes.

Well In Starwars Canon and in Starwars Legends ( I'm more of a Starwars Legends person fan ) I love Trench and Thrawn. They both have their Advantages , Natural talents and gifts to them. And they both are unique Species.
I say that it is a Tie Between the 2 because both of them are extremely Intelligent . Both are Starwars fan Favorites. Imagine if Trench survived as a CIS/Separatist Grand Admiral in the Clone Wars. It would be awesome to have Trench and Thrawn get to meet and team up with each other. These 2 teamed up would make it even more difficult towards the New Republic. Both Trench and Thrawn did the impossible .
Trench survived Death more than twice. Thrawn had a small fleet and managed to defeat a New Republic Fleet while the New Republic Fleet was surrounding a planet , the planet had its shields and Deflector Shields up. The planet also had 2 defense bases right by it.
In the Clone Wars Trench managed to experince battle and war tactics both in Outer Space and on Ground , He studied the Jedi, and Clones on how they do things. Their Actions, Intentions, and their Behaviour. And Trench even managed to comprehend a Clone who excuted a Jedi commander. While very Interesting. (Im pretty sure that Trench knew about Excute Order 66) because when Trench was talking to Count Dooku , Trench mentioned to Dooku about ( Not a Traitor this was different It seemed like the Clone couldn't help himself if it was like he was entranced. The Clone turned on his Jedi General and a Excuted her. ) Trench was putting the puzzle pieces together while surprised about the situation of what he saw and witnessed of what happened.
Trench: Raise the shields!
Tactical Droid: We cannot, the shields are still recharging
Trench: Very well, then open fire! Now that he is not clocked, we will blast that piece of junk and those missiles out of the sky :>

can we talk about how this random seperatist general saw the first act of order 66 happening over a year prior to its launch? He was the one who reported it to Count dooku. If he'd chosen not to, the Count probably wouldn't have been able to cover it up and Sidious plot would have been discovered. Insane to think about how this guy made his own grave

It’s a good thing for Sidious he never had a meeting with Trench, he would probably find out Sidious is the Chancellor of the Republic if that happened.
Trench is the best admiral of his time, but his time was right after a millennium of relative peace and most of the people he was up against were fighting pirates a year ago.
I don’t know why, but when Trench said “I have won this round”, I just find it kind of funny. Trench is kind of like Ackbar, Thrawn, Raddus, and Grievous rolled into one.
