    Lee, what a great video! My 2001 Carrera Cabriolet and I have been growing closer and closer over the past two years, I love this car! This past winter season she ran super in the snow too! A set of fresh Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 4s and we had a blast covering some miles in about 4 inches of packed snow before they got the roads cleared away. I see nothing but better days ahead for the 996 series, I am so glad I picked mine up when I did, the pricing has already risen a fair amount since July of 2020 when I picked her up for US $17.5, but aside from the pricing she's just a great, reliable daily driver that puts a smile on my face every day I drive her! Again, great video Lee, thanks for showcasing so many beautiful 996s!

    Great overview, really nice to see so many together. I had an SC for a while, 1981 GP White... ahhh, definitely regret selling that one - anyway, thinking about 911 ownership again and the 996 is where I've landed...you know these cars very well, I'm on the C4S vs Turbo page - beyond turbo is out of the budget and the wide body loveliness is keeping me away from narrow version - should I rethink? Anything I'm missing? Wondering about an Esprit instead :o

    I'm a 996 Turbo owner, but I have to say I like the headlights better on the .1 cars over the .2 cars. I have come close on two occassions getting out of the turbo and into a .1 GT3, not just for the headlights but for the sound of that engine. However, and it's a big however ... you can't beat boost IMO. These turbos are so easy to get big hp out of, and that boost is addictive.

  • @julietaylor2685
    @julietaylor2685 Před 2 lety

    A collection of the worst 911 generation. Cheap interiors, epic catastrophic mechanical failures and ungainly styling that Porsche quickly corrected in subsequent models. Sure, it’s a good drivers car but so is a bulletproof Toyota 86. Says it all really.

    • @AOWGroundBeef
      @AOWGroundBeef Před 2 lety

      That's pretty overstated....I'd have to disagree on the interiors; they may be a bit outdated looking (as most 24 year old cars would) but it is less plasticy to me than later models and of better materials than a 993. "epic catastrophic mechanical failures"....ok, the failure rate of single row IMS bearings was disturbingly high, but that is manageable if yours has not grenaded. There are still many on the road and they are beginning to appreciate.

    • @996Revival
      @996Revival Před 2 lety

      You’re just regurgitating 22yo journalism. I’ve heard that for years, and yet the generation had epic sales figures and people gobbled them up. I MUST be the ugliest; Car & Driver said it was!

    • @julietaylor2685
      @julietaylor2685 Před 2 lety

      Maybe I’m just not brave enough to own one myself. It’s possibly the last small 911 which is valuable. Subsequent generations just got fat and heavy

      @996Revival Před 2 lety +1

      @@julietaylor2685 id say the second gen 997 is a safe bet, too. The interiors are nicer with more gadgets and they’re still smaller than the 991!

    • @cristmh
      @cristmh Před rokem

      My '04 Mezger turbo is as bulletproof as they come and I'll run circles around a Toyota 86 all day long. Standard all leather interior isn't cheap at all and I get compliments everywhere I go on the styling of the car.
