@@Leto85actually, I thought it was widely viewed in the opposite way?? As a Millennial myself, I’d always read about how Gen-Zers were more into the whole cancel culture stuff, over every little thing, and us Millennials were the more laid-back about a lot of stuff because we grew up with way less filtered television, and have seen way more of stuff you’d never see today. So a lot of the stuff that wouldn’t fly for most people today, would hardly phase us at all. Well, that’s my opinion on the matter anyways. Hahah and I am just one person so, who knows.

    • @Leto85
      @Leto85 Před rokem +2

@@billyblastoff O, but it may very well be that wherever you live you had a completely different experience than I did, hence your conclusion in your comment.
The thing you said about way less filtered television is true - hack, these commercials are perfectly presenting that - though it is Gen-Z who (what every new generation does) looked at our generation, judged what we did wrong in their eyes, and go another direction.
That whole 'what are your pronouns?' introduction they do seems to me refreshingly necessary: it shows respect of the one one who questions allowed the receiver to be who they decide to be. I see that as progress, just like the rise of the LTBT+ community.
What I do not see as progress however though is when people can't take a joke at any of their member's expense. The jokes made at gay people in these commercials were at the expense of the two men not understanding that being gay and being masculine are not mutually exclusive.
I also see humoristic and utterly wrong depictions on television about people with autism. The classic stiff walking, robotic talking, and the necessity of wearing glasses are so stereotypical and overreacted. I have autism myself, but I'm not insulted by that; I'm the first to laugh.
Life's one big joke anyway I think, so why not laugh a little.
Dont ban these commercials. Instead, air them again in 4K for today's snowflake culture who grew too soft to even lift the a ban-hammer.

      I've experienced both sides.
One where so much political correctness is drummed into today's youth that they look everywhere for it to speak out publicly, whether because of their beliefs or simply to make themselves important (I've seen both) .
And another where, because of "celebrity's" and influencer, who puts content over common sense and empathy for others, that they think this behavior is normal or even that such behavior makes them cool.
I mean people who still follows the Paul brothers wouldn't even acknowledge controversy when someone hit them over the head with it.
But that is just how the current generation could became like that. That behavior is sadly nothing new, can you remember the time people wanted to cancel the teletubbies because they thought that it makes children homosexual because one had a handbag. Ideology, their morality and their environment could direct a opinion to the extreme.

Men who freak out about any display of affection between two men, in my eyes anyways, are completely sus bro. I have so much more respect in a dude who can take a compliment from another dude and just let them know “Hey thanks for the compliment man. I don’t swing that way, but I appreciate it bruh!” Than some alpha-male who freaks out to make a big scene and make sure EVERYONE KNOWS that they’re not gay….it’s honestly very telling who’s comfortable in their sexuality and who’s not.
Growing up, you know which guys picked on me relentlessly for being gay? The “super-straight giga-chads.” You know which guys would hit on me in the locker room or anywhere where we were alone? Those same “super-straight giga-chads.” 🙄
*sigh* We have a long way to go as a society in de-programming young men from thinking only boys play with trucks, girls play with dolls, only boys wear blue, girls wear pink. Just goes to show you guys who know what their sexuality is and are comfortable in who they are. And shows those who’s masculinity is so fragile, that just the sight of another lgbtq+ couple will shatter their willpower, and they won’t be able to repress those gay feelings anymore. It really goes along with the far-right’s whole “gay propaganda” they push out these days.
I seriously hope one of these days soon, we’ll all be able to live and let live. Where we can all just worry about our own selves and not give two fks what the next person does with their life, or who they live that life with. It really is beyond bizarre how far some people go, and how far they stretch and bend the truth to fit their own crazy narrative, that they’ve come up with themselves inside their tiny caveman brain.

The Qiaobi commercial. As a Chinese American who was raised by traditional Chinese parents I can see both the racist issue that western cultures see but I also understand the non racist point of the commercial.
In China having light skin is considered beautiful. The lighter the better. Remember this is a country where everyone generally has the same eye, skin and hair color. Having dark skin means you are in the sun a lot which means you have an outdoor job. Only poor people have jobs outside. Having light skin means you work indoors which means you have a well paying job.
Being an American I see the racism but I also understand the message they were trying to convey.

The ones I can see that are wrong would be burger king, mother's day, fly me, popchips, qiaobi detergent, holiday inn, love baby soft, pepsi, sale's genie, groupon, mountain dew,
Peloton one, what? Aren't women allowed to want exercise equipment? It's pretty sexist to think they don't. If the gift had been from the wife to the husband there would be no issue, so why is there an issue the other way around?
Snickers one is making fun of homophobic people,
Skittles is gross but not really controversial
Dove is also ok, it's just a random order. Or does it also mean that the white woman is dirtier than the hispanic one?
Nationwide is just bringing awareness, what's wrong with it? It won't bring awareness unless it's impactful.

I wish that you would stop using terms such as homophobia, transphobia, etc. It is clear to me that whoever initially coined those terms has no idea what a phobia really is. Those things being term as phobias are NOT phobias, as a man who suffers from two very real and genuine phobias (acrophobia and claustrophobia), I find that misuse of the term phobia to be extremely offensive.
The definition of a phobia, according to the dictionary, is: an extreme or irrational fear or aversion to something.
The symptoms of a phobia include:
    • sweating
    • abnormal breathing
    • accelerated heartbeat
    • trembling
    • hot flushes or chills
    • a choking sensation
    • chest pain or tightness
    • butterflies in the stomach
    • pins and needles
    • dry mouth
    • confusion or disorientation
    • nausea
    • dizziness
    • headache
I am yet to see or know of anyone or see or hear of any documented cases of anyone who is against the idea of homosexuality, transsexuality, etc experiencing any of the above when they are around homosexuals, transsexuals, etc. and it would be safe to say neither have you.
I believe that more accurate terms such as anti-homosexual, anti-transsexual, etc would be more appropriate and I would appreciate it if the LGBT community and their supporters would start using those terms instead of the inaccurate terms.

I never see, in these lists of outrageous advertisements, the most offensive one I saw once. I think it was on daytime TV (back when I had a kid watching kid shows). It was Summer, just ahead of the 96 Summer Olympics. Toys R Us ran an ad about parents getting medals for buying their kids toys, standing on the podium and looking proud of their accomplishment. Yucky enough, but then there's a shot of a little girl, in admiration of her mother, saying "I love you, Mommy!" BARF! So they thought they could get business by telling parents they could win love by buying their kids lots of Toys R Us toys. - puuuuke.

    • @billyblastoff
      @billyblastoff Před rokem +3

That doesn’t even sound that offensive. Ahahah it’s just blatantly stating, “hey, if you buy all the toys in the world for your kid, they’ll love you forever!” Which is definitely what they wanted as a toy company, but as a society, isn’t the way someone should raise their kids believing because then they’ve just gotten whatever they want their whole lives, and you end up with an adult-child who probably won’t know how to appreciate anything. In my opinion, that is.
And what did you think of the snickers commercial? I found it so stupid that people couldn’t see they were making fun of men’s fragile masculinity in that commercial. Mojo says they took it down for the blatant homophobia? I felt like they’re shooting for our team and were making fun of the alpha males. 🤣
