Props to Pyro for this win. Looking at the decks in the title, I couldn't help but think "Whelp, Brallin/Shabraz is def not winning this one"
I run that deck, but less tuned. I use well of life and dawn of hope to make shabaraz's draw a card place a counter gain a life loop trigger more card draw for 1 or 2 mana. It's pretty good, all things considered, but maaan. Mindmoil is SPICY. It's super risky, but now that hullbreacher is banned you could at least justify trying it even if you'll still get hard locked out of some games by narsets...
@@bodaciouschad pretty sure this game and the next few were recorded before the HB ban so this was extra spicy and risky
Didn't help the Chain of Vapor wasn't copied so the game got handed to Brallin/Shabraz via Windfall.
@@jdcommander7026 for sure, although that can be the cost for getting too cute. If you attempt to wield power you don't have, it can sure blow up in your face. Not that I think trying to leverage the Chain was intrinsically wrong, but when you have a play that *will* work, and you bypass it for one that *might* work (but adds value), you have to be prepared for your opponent to make their own decision
@@SenorCoupon We actually had a laugh after that game was finished recording wondering how many people would go nuts over Folger's questionable play, whether you agree or disagree with it. It did not disappoint.

Lol, the misplays from Folger are why he is my favourite player. The greedy Chain play made me laugh out loud haha.
I agree that it was greedy but it technically was the correct play to do. I guess Adam just wanted to lose. idk... either he has an answer himself or he just bites the dust in the next turn
@@NojaboyTalent agreed, I donât like when people force a greedy play on me, but sometimes you gotta swallow your pride and continue. Adam essentially gave the game to pyro and kinda king maked by not bouncing shabraz. I understand he wanted golfer out but he had no answer for shabraz either
I would have done excaclty what adam did. Folger just wanted to lose the game there. Things you just dont do in cEDH...

@@koreyg8552 @nono - honestly, it isn't even greedy. It's just a heads up play. Thras/Bruse chose to lose instead of sac a land and bounce a 2 CMC creature. If anything, that's insanely greedy. Definitely not a smart play given the scenario.
Kudos to Folger there for the Chain target, despite any flack he gets for hitting a 2 cmc creature or bad flack for being "greedy"

@@pyro1581 no hate. You played things well. Just some interesting choices. Just gets weird for new people to not realize context of things. I'm all for people running out fun fringe stuff or whatever, just doesn't always get across in content that it maybe isn't a deck to enter into cEDH. If a new person buys and builds a deck then struggles, it can push them out of it.

Dude same here, and I have this deck with curiosity in it. Makes me real happy that a CEDH list is shabraz combat damage.
I just got back from my LGSâ first night back with in person games. I played my Shabraz and Brallin wheel deck for one game, and that lost to Malcom and Breeches Pirates. I was so close to either swinging in with giant commanders or pulling off the curiosity combo. Itâs not at all tuned for cedh, but itâs maybe like a 6 or 7 power level.

Ehh, I think a huge shabraz is good backup but shouldnât be the primary win con. To be fair pyro got lucky here If Adam would have copied the chain he wouldnât have won so easy cuz shabraz goes back to command zone
I've seen Brallin/Shabraz do work, but mostly as a Curiosity Combo deck - or, at least, making more use of Brallin. It's hilarious to see the shark do so much work with combat damage

I am so happy to see Shabraz smacking. Love him, really wanted to build a deck on him simply for being a sky shark, though not for cedh, this gives me ideas.
I always felt Shabraz was underrated in the pair, and Pyro went and did something about it! Iâm so happy!

Yeah Adam not copying the Chain of Vapor at 11:05 was pure FU Folger. If you dont handle the main threat on your own(Volger not targeting the Narset/(Shabrazat this time it was not so clear that he would grow so fast) with the chain)) while you are ahead on the board then fine then i play Kingmaker and not to your likeing(where adams thoughts here i think).
Idk, Folger was also ahead and couldn't deal with the Flying Shark. So, I think Folger got greedy. Not a spite play in my book

I love Brallin/Shabraz! Pyro's list definitely plays differently than mine, but still love seeing the Shark beats plan in full effect!

Disagree. Not greedy, just a very poor decision from the Thras/Bruse player to Kingmake and concede vice bouncing a 2 mana creature in Thras.
Windfall into Narset with opponents getting their hands ripped is similar to a game ender. Puts you WAY ahead and given game state of two players left and a huge evasive beater, you're basically done if it resolves without bouncing Narset

If you think about it, creature aggression and ability based combos are harder to interact with in cedh. If a large creature manages to hit the field, it has more staying power given the state of removal and board wipes that exist in cedh decks, which are more catered to low mana value tempo plays

I also have a brallin/shabraz deck and not gonna lie I expected a curiosity combo in here. But seeing mindmoil makes me wonder why on earth haven't I gotten this card sooner. I needs it!
One question: I like your vids and most of the Games are at least good so thx for all the work đ but would it be possible the we can see the handcards amount too? I am asking this cause i had like 3 Vids already where i thought it could help to understand some moves or to catch who is realy ahead^^.
We used to visually track number of cards in hand but it created much more work than it was worth at all stages of the process, including initial outlines and final editing.

Mindmoil is a fun card. My favorite commander, Arjun, is mindmoil on a stick and I'm slowly working up to making him into a cedh deck I'm just missing mostly expensive mana pieces, and then fine tune it some more.

Really weird threat assessment this game, the rest of the table really wasnt giving Pyro's board the respect it commanded. Still well-played by Pyro, that Mindmoil was amazing!
More importantly Adam didnât copy the chain to bounce shabraz and have it put back in the CZ so he gave pyro the game. That whole thing didnât make sense

Narset still allows players to draw a card each turn, even during other players' turns.

Brallin' came out with Trample.
Derevei doesnât have flash, only an activated ability that works from the command zone.

I guess Adam was more concerned about shutting down Folger than winning, I really can't see a reason to not copy it when you dont have an answer to any of the current big threats. Even just copying it and targeting kraum to force Folger to deal with it or copy target Adam again. Idk felt like a spite play or something
