      If it would have been made of gold or even silver I can see easily getting 3k. Not a lot of buyers willing to fork 3k

      That's neat, and I hope the museum gave her a lifetime membership in appreciation.
      If the artist made a lot of jewelry, it would be neat if the museum did an annual fashion show pairing the jewelry with vintage clothes how it was meant to be worn....or at least a mannequin display. I think it would help young people understand it better.

    I acquired from an elderly friend when he passed away a 24k gold ring made by George Jensen. And some other pieces by him as well. When I took the jewelry into a jeweler for appraisal of the diamonds, etc. it was the George Jensen stuff that the jeweler got really excited over. I have never sold any of it and still have it all.

    Giving it for free to a museum is crazy. I think it was the right decision tho. Art should be displayed to the public

    I have dozens of pieces of art I’ve found through the years. My first big find was a James Rizzi “The Beach” I paid 3.99 for it. It sells on line for 4000.00.

    I came across an actual Hell Awaits tour shirt from like, 85, 86? At a thift store for $3 or something. Try finding an original print of that now - you're looking at $500, $700 etc.
    Although I would have paid that anyways, and do, for things like that, it was still pretty cool. Saved me enough money to buy an original print A.C. longsleeve lol

    They should display the necklace a way that you can look at it from all sides. I mean suspending or hanging it so you can see through the "gem" from al sides.

    I bought a vintage Coach purse worth over $600 resale for $20 at a Goodwill last year. They obviously had no clue that it was this highly sought-after Y2K design. After some TLC it was practically mint. I still use it every day and get compliments often. I love getting to tell people I bought her for $20.

    I’m a walking contradiction. If I find money on the ground and I know whose pocket it came out of, I’d chase them down the block to return it. But if I find a valuable item at a thrift store, I’d buy it and then flip it. Go figure. I don’t know what that says about me but it’s cool that this woman found something awesome and decided to share it with the world instead of keeping it hidden in some private collector’s home.

    Artists always get screwed. She could have loaned it to them for a few years and asked for it back at a later date. Now some rich person will eventually claim it as their own, and added to an immense collection of things they don’t need.
