    This is a mashup of seven Daft Punk songs:
    Technologic,
    One More Time,
    Get Lucky,
    Digital Love,
    Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger,
    Television Rules The Nation and
    Around The World.

      wait, are they singing Around the World during Avi's part? I never knew they were singing actual words!

    • @jerolddavis
      @jerolddavis Před 2 lety +7

      @@hcroussette So it's actually like 3 or 4 times throughout the song. During 'Television' is the most obvious one, lol. I had probably seen this a hundred times before I even noticed that one. Then during the end sequence, she sings it twice, but it blends in a ton, you have to really listen specifically for Kirstin's voice. I thought there was one more, but I couldn't find it.

    • @jerolddavis
      @jerolddavis Před 2 lety +8

      @@hcroussette Also, I just realized that while she's singing it 3x during 'Television', it actually pans left to right. That's an absurd level of detail.

    The three main vocalists, Scott , Mitch, and Kirstie, sang together in high school as The Trio. After that, they picked up Avi (bass) and Kevin (beatboxer) to form Pentatonix. They have a 200 plus song catalog over their eleven year history. The only member change was when Avi left in 2017 and Matt took over as bass.
    Recommend the Sound Of Silence. The newer bass, Matt, is terrific in this.

    They wrote their own medley of 7 Daft Punk songs! Kevin the beatboxer and Avi the bass wrote it, probably with Ben Bram polishing it up.
    This was the song that pretty much rescued their financial nosedive. Done cheap and done very well.

    You are correct! This talent is hard earned :-) even though they all have incredible voices and talent, it's the hard work behind the scenes, the work ethic in keeping going even when they lost their first recording contract, the amount of professional attention they bring to their craft, that really uplifts them. And the fact they respect each other and play to everyones strengths. To me, that is why I am so taken by them, not just for the music, but the the feeling of love and respect they seem to bring. They remain (it appears!) so grounded and humble about what they have achieved - and this week it was announced they will have a Star on the Hollywood walk of stars! They've earned it.

    You are absolutely correct: they "put their own twist" on everything they do. They definitely do _not_ want to simply be perfect copies of someone else's original song. Like all true artists, they apply their own musical sensibility to whatever they do, and the result often seems like a whole new song. That's what makes music (and art in general) so great. Another example of reimagining someone else's tune to the point that it sounds brand new is Scott Bradley's ever-changing music collective known as *Postmodern Jukebox* , or PMJ, for short. Just about everything they do is remarkable. So, go check 'em out!

    this is actually a 7 song mash-up and yes, Sir, they have perfected this, they won their first Grammy for this arrangement

    Keep in mind they are the undisputed best at what they do. They won the Sing Off and made it work for them.

    It is a mash up of a bunch of Daft Punk songs. I think they shot it in one of their apartments for like $400 and they won a Grammy for it.

    Play them All! Havana is great. This one is my favorite! Seen Avi in Dallas December 22! His stuff is good too! This Medley is great! Avi Kaplan is solo now! Floating on a Dream! Excellent!

    This video is 5 different songs from the Daft Punk group. At the end they are singing all 5 songs at once. Have you ever stood in a walk-in closet with 4 other people? That is exactly how they recorded this sound for the video. The acoustics were phenomenal. The video was recorded in the kitchen of the same house. It won them a Grammy.

    I really enjoy your reactions as you appreciate how great what they do is and go back to listen again! Daft Punk is an electronic duo that wrote, produced and mixed music, and have had a huge impact on dance music. This is a medley of some of their most famous songs. PTX are superb at arranging songs too. More recommendations are Love Again (original) Mary Did You Know (cover) Gold (cover) La La Latch (Mashup).Enjoy!

    Mitch Grassi (counter tenor in Pentatonix) did a solo cover of Billy Eilish's song POWER, which is so haunting. Mitch and Scott (baritone) have their own channel called Superfruit, amazing musical and comedy content. Kevin (beatboxer) also has his own channel. His cover of DOWN is a good place to start.

    The sound effects is named Kevin. He played sax at Carnegie Hall at age 17. They asked him to beatbox Beethoven's 5th. He did.

    So great to find another PTX newbie! Prepare to be continually amazed. I think you'll love their "Evolution of Michael Jackson" video. It's an early creation of theirs, just a single take with minimal production, but their timing and vocal genius are on full display.
