I have this MacBook as a backup device. I upgraded the HDD to a 1TB SSD & the RAM to 16GB. I upgraded the OS to Monterey via OCLP & it runs really, really smooth!!
I used a MacBook 2009 and I can say a ThinkPad t410 greatly surpasses it in terms of value and longevity, Linux really makes old laptops just as they used to be
Just got one of these by accident and turned out to be a great buy!!! Upgraded to an SSD, 16 GB RAM, and currently running Catalina. I use it mainly for DJ setups and haven’t had issues yet.
My disabled daughter is still using my 2010 MBP with a i7 for web browsing, FT, and messaging. It has been thrown on hardwood floors a few times when it was newer and it is still chugging along. Replacing it for my daughter right now with a new iMac, but this thing has paid for itself over and over again. It's been a tank.
Well, thanks for your video. I tried using OpenCore on my Mid-2012 MBP to install anything past Catalina, but after about 10 tries using many scenarios I was unsuccessful. It got to the point of supposedly loading Sonoma, but the install never ended, leaving a totally unusable machine. So, if I wish to use it at all, I will have to again (after many installs) reload original software and forget about performing an OpenCore install.
Watching this video on a mid-2012 MacBook Pro which I've upgraded to 16 GB RAM, a 2 TB main SSD, and a 4 TB HDD in the space formerly occupied by the internal SuperDrive (via OWC's Data Doubler). It's the best computer I've ever owned.
@@KindaAverageTech how to prepare the main memory for upgrade. I shut down my MacBook then I opened it up and I replaced the ram and I replaced the hard drive for a SSD. When I turned the laptop back on it didn’t recognise the SSD so I put the hard drive back in and it worked again and the ram is working fine. What should I do about the SSD upgrade?
@@KindaAverageTech I currently have the same MacBook Pro, but every time I try to upgrade to Sonoma, it fails using OCLP. Would you happen to have any suggestions? What is main problems ? Can you Sugges me ....Please

My favorite thing about these machines are the dual sata ports and the screens which can usually run at 120hz.

Bro, get an USB adapter when you installed the OS. The installation was stalled because the installation stopped the wifi adapter on the Macbook.

Are you getting any errors?
OCLP doesn't currently support Sonoma 14.4 on Macs without Metal support.
@@geoman1420 2012‘s are Metal Macs though…
You need to give the program access to your drive. go to privacy and security settings.
